my family got me these discarded film clips that used to be sold at cons in the 60s and 70s!!! i actually teared up looking through them. they're VERY tiny. i can't wait to find some way to display them irl but for now here they are :)
One of my favorite, very small tidbits from A Piece of the Action novelization that doesn't appear in the episode!
Kirk using gibberish words when describing the game not only to confuse Kalo, but also so he can hide a vulcan word in their that spock and bones would recognize while their captors are none the wiser.
It's incredibly smart! It also confirms that kirk knows at least one vulcan word, if not more (who knows, maybe he can hold a stilted conversation in vulcan?) Impressively, it seems that bones knows what that word means as well because he acts at the same time as spock. The good doctor knowing more vulcan than he let's on? Maybe he appreciates the culture but just loves riding spock up too much. Maybe they argue in vulcan when they don't want others to ease drop about what they're saying
There's another scene in a different episode where they're held captive and all three of them are speaking in a jarble of like, 7 languages so the guards can't understand what they're talking about and it's so good for character building. Not only do they KNOW seven languages, they can jump between them AND hold a conversation while doing it, it's so much fun
