Maple Bay is perfect. White fences, trimmed green lawns, and friendly families. Who wouldn’t want to move into this pleasant community? Life in the cul-de-sac is filled with barbecues, bake sales, and days at the park. And few people are as welcoming as the cool youth minister, Joseph Christiansen.

Maple Bay is perfect, but nothing is a coincidence.

The masked anguish in this pocket of suburbia was carefully cultivated. As these people lie awake at night, ignoring the cries in the dark, they toil over their own inner demons.
