“Maybe you ought to. Don’t know how far it would get in our current situation.” Jackson’s mood was considerably lighter than that of his company, however he still couldn’t quite empathize with the situation. At least, he couldn’t understand the extent of the frustration over a mere video game. It seemed to him that the things to be frustrated about were their encasement and other issues that came along with it, and video games were found somewhere at the bottom of the list. “We could keep practicing, and I’m sure you’ll catch on quick. Or we could find something else to do.”

“i can’t even send the stupid letter!” milo responded, nearly hysterically as he threw his hands in the air, a loud sigh escaping his lips as he fell backwards against the couch. “i can’t do anything inside of this stupid dome,” he mumbled, folding his arms across his chest as he hung his head. milo wasn’t just upset about his loss, he was upset about his entire situation! he felt so useless, trapped in the dome, effectively grounded. it was torture. but it was no use whining about it, that would only make the situation worse. sighing, he forced himself to sit up as he turned his head to look at the other male. “i’d rather kiss a hutt than play again.”

Jack’s eyes widened in shock as the other threw a fit, having come in last in Mario Kart. He wasn’t sure how to go about comforting him; after all, it was just a game, and although Jackson was competitive, he was usually only competitive about things he felt mattered, tennis for example. “It’s alright, Milo,” he consoled, suppressing a nervous laugh. An arm wrapped the back of the couch, and his hand rested over the back of Milo’s neck, his thumb and forefinger pressing into a soft massage over his shoulders to pacify him. “People play this for years of their childhood, and that’s why they are so good at it. If it was too easy, nobody would play, and Nintendo wouldn’t get any money.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
his mood effectively ruined, milo continued to sulk- sinking even further into the couch. he was grateful for his friend’s attempt to understand- but he was certain no one could relate to the embarrassment that he was feeling. he made a name for his self as a pilot and pod racer, and here he was unable to beat a silly video game! what would people think? he’d be ruined! sighing, he shifted, allowing his friend to gently massage his shoulders as he exhaled. “but i’ve been piloting for years! and the controls are much harder than this!” he explained, his voice raised as he once more felt a wave of frustration. “i ought to write this nintendo person a letter! tell them how it should be done!”

Jack smirked, satisfied at the rise he had gotten from his comment, no matter how mild it had been. “Yeah, me too,” he agreed. He was already missing the fall atmosphere, so thinking about missing the Christmas-time mood was just another layer of disappointment that he’d rather not think about. “Wanna play truth or dare?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
mikhail was still annoyed, but he refrained from firing off a heated remark or storming off in anger, once again realizing the value of company. allowing a small sigh to escape from his lips, he pulled his knee to his chest, resting his chin on top of it. “sure,” he responded, a faint smile spreading across his face as he turned to look at the male. “truth or dare?”

“stupid controller!” milo cried out in frustration, throwing the piece of plastic on the ground as he crossed the finish line in last place. “stupid game,” he added for good measure, a frown appearing across his face as he turned to look at the male sitting next to him. “i don’t get it! i’ve been racing since i could walk, yet when it comes to this stupid game,” he spoke, gesturing towards the tv, “i can never win! it’s not fair!” he finished his rant with a sigh as he sunk into the couch, arms folded across his chest and a pout on his face. @jacks-onian

“Are you a Russian who always talks about how cold Russia is?” he questioned testily. His fingers wound absently through the fringe at the edge of the scarf. Blinking over at the other, he tried not to appear so absorbed in thoughts and so opted to continue talking, fearing any break of silence would cause the conversation to stagger and die. “I doubt it, but that would be nice. Maybe- just maybe- we can get out before the first snow, and we won’t have to live to see the answer to that question.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“no,” mikhail responded, perhaps a bit too quickly and definitely too hostile, his eyes momentarily narrowing as he looked at his companion. he despised stereotypes, and he wasn’t afraid to make it known. if this was how their evening would be spent, he’d much rather be alone. “that would be ideal,” he responded with a nod, his anger momentarily forgotten as his gaze turned to the street below, “i would hate to miss the first snow,” he mumbled.

“Fall is my favorite season,” he said to Mikhail. His voice lacked real enthusiasm, and actually seemed a little bit bitter about the fact. “This isn’t what fall should feel like, though. It should feel breezy, and crisp. I think the dome is standing in way of the ideal autumnal atmosphere.” He slipped the scarf off his neck, bundling it up in his lap, kicking his feet over the edge of the roof, dangling three stories up. “I suppose we should be used to it, but the changing of seasons makes our whole situation seem so immutable.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
mikhail couldn’t care less about what jackson’s favorite season was, but rather than expressing his feelings, he stayed silent. the loneliness of the dome was starting to effect him, and he didn’t want to chase off someone willing to talk to him. still, he couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of the other bundled up in a scarf. “this is nothing compared to a russian fall,” he mused, a small frown appearing across his face as his thoughts briefly turned towards his home. “but i suppose you make a good point,” he added with a shrug, as he joined the other, his feet dangling off the ledge. “i wonder if it will snow inside the dome.”

blair.
“i guess i can appreciate you knowing how to pick your battles– that’s fair. though it’d be good entertainment for me,” she joked, lightly nudging mason as the two walked along the street. good entertainment, that is, until it was turned on her, but she didn’t let that idea fester for too long. the dark haired girl’s eyes couldn’t help but narrow, as if she was suspicious of mason’s words. “a charming little rooftop.” she echoed, her tone only mildly skeptical as she spoke, but the hint of a smile still remained on her lips. it sounded romantic. and so… not blair. maybe that was because no one ever tried to romance her, as she was known for things other than being loving. though the line of what she and mason were often became blurred, she’d write the suggestion off as just him suggesting something new. something creative. there was no way it could be more. “you have some sort of fantasy you’re trying to live out, hmm? or have you gotten really hung up on nicholas sparks books? i know entertainment around here has been scarce since phones went down, but…” she shrugged her shoulders as she looked at him, as if to indicate she was teasing before her gaze travelled up to the tops of the buildings, trying to peg out which one he’d be bringing her to. “. . i’m down. but there better be blankets, ‘cause i’m fuckin’ cold.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“thank you,” mason responded, a slight bitterness in his tone, his mood temporarily soured. the subject of blair’s mother’s was tricky, he knew it was ridiculous to be afraid of them. but there was something telling him he might not like what would happen if he were to ever hurt blair. regardless, it was something to worry about later. shaking his head slightly, his grin quickly returned as he tilted his head to the side. he easily detected her skepticism, but he was far from worried- once blair saw all the hard work he’d poured into creating a little paradise, all ill thoughts would be long forgotten. “you’ve caught me!” he announced, coming to a sudden stop as he threw his hands in the air. “i’ve just been so bored lately and the owner of the house i’m living in just has all these books,” he launched into a long explanation, his grin growing even wider, “i’m just a huge fan of nicholas sparks! i especially love that one the last dance?” he laughed, grabbing ahold of blair’s hand as he led her to the doorway of one of the buildings, “well of course, we wouldn’t want you to be cold.”

blair.
“why? might be a good adrenaline rush. attempting to avoid all million people that are currently living in there.” at home, it wasn’t so much of an issue, but … wda was not built for large skellington families. “i’m afraid?” her tone was incredulous, even as she spoke as low as she was. her eyes remained on his lips as he crept closer, her feet lifting just enough to close the space between them. it was. . easy to melt into mason. unsettlingly so. at least, for what they were supposed to be. it was a fact that she’d eventually have to confront– more often than not, it was swept under the rug. her lips parted from his and they lingered there for one, two beats too long before she eased herself off her tippy-toes. “whatever helps you sleep at night, wilde. where are we headed?” her brows raised in genuine curiosity as she looked past him, the campus eerily empty for a friday night. pre-dome, there probably would be a few too-drunk youths roaming the courtyard. “this place is a damn ghost town.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
mason couldn’t help but roll his eyes, his grin growing wider the longer he stared at the girl. “there are plenty of ways to gain adrenaline that won’t end with me being maimed,” he responded, with a forced laugh as he willed himself to relax. there was no reason to be worried, he and blair were alone. cutting off the kiss, mason took a step back, his grin returning to his face as he found himself gazing at blair. he’d been with plenty of people in his life, girls, guys, yet none of them had come close to blair. there was just something special about her, he couldn’t describe it- but he knew he never wanted to let her go. “well skellington,” he mused, a mischevious looking flashing across his face as he glanced at her, “i happen to know this charming little roof top,” okay, the roof top was far from charming, but he’d spent time fixing it up- hanging lights and securing lawn chairs, creating their own little hiding spot.

“what? sneaking in to the teachers quarters where you draw the line?” blair teased, her voice just above a whisper as she slowly and quietly closed the door behind her. “afraid you won’t make it out before principal skellington wakes up?” her brow raised playfully as she stepped around mason, starting to walk off– things were definitely easier when she had wasn’t sharing a living space at school with her moms, but they both insistent she was safest staying with them for the time being. there was something to be appreciated about that. appreciated, but mildly inhibiting.  @undcrlings

“no,” mason responded with a roll of his eyes, a cocky, lopsided grin spreading across his face as he leaned against the wall, his eyes fixated on blair. “i draw the line at sneaking into the principals quarters,” he added, what he failed to mention was that he was actually afraid of the principal’s wife. “perhaps you’re afraid of getting caught,” he whispered, allowing his arm to fall to his side as he stepped closer to blair, his grin growing wider as he leaned inwards to kiss her.

august king lives by a set of rules, guidelines for being the best version of himself that he could. the rules are vast, ranging from an aversion to drugs to relationships. but with everything that happened in the past few weeks, he’d begun questioning his rules about relationships. specifically, he’d begun to question his principle of backing down when someone showed they weren’t interested. and it was all because of one person. nikki barton was in every way his opposite, but that was what he’d grown to love about her. and with everything that was going on, he was worried, afraid even. so against his better judgment, he knocked on the door, exhaling as he took a step back. a gasp escaping from his lips as the door opened, a smile spreading across his face as he took her in. “nikki-” he breathed, taking another breath before continuing, “i just wanted to make sure you were okay,” he explained, biting down on his lip as he waited for her response. @inviictas

“Dunno what the fuck pod races are,” Jack replied sullenly. “But there’s nothing to do around here, anymore. I mean, if you want to watch a movie at the theater, you actually have to set up the film and screen yourself. It probably doesn’t take a technical genius, but right off the bat I wouldn’t know how to do that.” He tossed another Skittle into his mouth, a candy of which he would never run out, his successful raids of four snack machines wielding a bountiful loot. “Do you play tennis?” he asked, though somehow doubted Milo had even heard of the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“you’ve never heard of pod races?” milo was taken aback by the other’s statement, he couldn’t even fathom what his life would’ve been like without them. a life without pod races was a sad existence. “it’s so much fun! each racer has his or her own pod and they race this giant track-” he started to explain, before abruptly cutting himself off, figuring the other male probably didn’t care. “it doesn’t sound too difficult, i bet i could figure it out,” he mused, eyebrows furrowing together. a movie wasn’t exactly his idea of fun, but it would be something to do. “is tennis the one with the weird clubs?” he questioned, immediately perking up at the thought of a new activity.
