I’m actually not okay about squid. They are so beautiful in a way that feels almost unnatural. They are uncanny and calming at the same time, like a cosmically frightening mother who’s love you can feel despite her might.

That video of a giant squid near the surface in Japan a few years ago breaks my heart into a thousand tiny pieces whenever I see it. An angel of the deep sea drawn out and gawked at, polluted by our witness and forced to become a spectacle. It was exposed to so much distress and unfamiliarity and stared at by thousands of eyes in that state and it didn’t even understand what was happening. It feels so disrespectful to me. That creature was so beautiful, so beyond us but we had to tear it from the thresholds of mystique just because of our own selfish curiosity. It legitimately makes me feel sick. This isn’t even a moral thing, that squid wasn’t drawn out by humans or even harmed, but seeing videos of those creatures in contexts where I know they’re uncomfortable makes me want to cry. It feels like filming a god on the toilet it’s so wrong in the sense that it feels like it should be impossible

The way I feel about squid is honestly hard to verbalise. I have delusions about them being angels but even outside of that I love them in such a way that I think it goes beyond just an autistic special interest. I have almost no visceral empathy for humans but seeing squid in distress or being hurt makes me have violent panic attacks and experience physical pain. Whenever I try and picture god I see a squid. I’m so insane.

If reincarnation is real please let me be a squid I’m honestly aching to become one and I’m confused why I’m not one yet

I find it incredibly discouraging sometimes how often people find it completely appropriate to just trauma dump and guilt you about their past experiences with abuse if you bring up having a cluster b disorder. These people really just see us as personified manifestations of their trauma that they can take out their rage on despite us being total strangers to them.

There is no statistical evidence whatsoever to suggest that people with npd are more likely to be abusive, in fact most evidence points to us being more likely to fall victim to abuse, and yet these people cling to the notion that their pain is our fault because they want some monolithic bogeyman figure to direct their rage at without being faced with the knowledge that abusers are just regular people who make bad choices and don’t care. It’s easier to believe in a breed of person who is just pure evil than to address the complexities of the human mind, especially when recovering from trauma, and it breaks my heart because I know the people pushing this rhetoric are just in a ton of pain, and I love them and want to sympathise with them even though I know they see me as subhuman.

Okay i wanted to be ominous but i kinda want to elaborate tbh.

So, as we have seen already, you can use an AI to generate a video or voice clip of anybody you properly train or program an AI to emulate. This is huge on many things that are horrifying (think deepfake porn) but I am personally very worried of its use on the legal system.

You can generate a clip of someone confessing to a crime.

You could generate a clip of someone COMITTING a crime.

This is horrid to think, and the following might just be a stretch out of my proactive mind, but I feel this is the reasonable course of action.

If digital media can be completely fake, then ALL of it could be taken as such on a legal context to be safe. Photographic evidence? Video evidence? Audio evidence? Nothing is actual proof, its as good as a drawing.

On a popular level, digital media will keep going, of course, but the delegitimatization of it will impact greatly on the use of technology, in my opinion.

Theres always hostility towards technology, we been on the verge of smashing our modern textile machines for a bit now, and I feel this will kind of push us over the edge. There will be trials, mass outrages and shit like that that will later be revealed to have been caused by an AI generated digital piece, and people will grow the more hostile, and something big will go down. Of course we are so dependant of it im not saying we will revert completely, but this will mark a breaking point, at least that's what it looks like to me. Anyway im drunk and shaking typing this so dont take me seriously or anything
