Paskong Pepsi - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=memT7UlwfnY
1.First off we get a shot of everyone in a room which looks like the living room of one of the people’s houses, then we go into a close up of everyone eating their food while drinking Pepsi. The lighting of the video makes it feel like its late at night and everyone is having a good time. And at the last part there were 3 camera shots making showing everyone being goofy and having a good time.
2.The background music was a original song that had the lyrics saying that it’s not really Christmas if you don’t have Pepsi. And there were also sound effects of fizzing from the Pepsi and the crunches from the pizza they ate. They also added an asmr-like sound of them drinking Pepsi making you more tempted to drink it.
3.Pepsi created a message saying that Christmas with friends is not complete without Pepsi. They used high-quality sound effects, original and groovy music, and relaxing lighting, they also had high-ranking celebrities to grab my attention. Other people might get mad about the idea that Pepsi is the only drink that should be associated with Christmas, because Christmas is for everyone and sending the message that “Pepsi and Christmas is a must” is kind of a rude way of saying that Pepsi is better than all your other favorite drinks. The value in the video is that we should hang out with our loved ones on Christmas and have a great time. This message was being said in order for people to buy Pepsi more
4.I feel like the content in the message was well-made considering it’s a fifteen second ad that’s talking about how Pepsi and Christmas are always good together, and the budget on this ad must have been crazy high because of all the high-quality sound effects, music, lighting, cinematography, and all the celebrities in the video. I don’t really know if I want to accept the message of this ad because it feel a bit too much of a sell-out to me, an ad should not force an message on you and should let you decide whether or not you want to buy the product or not.
We Gotchu This Christmas - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZtp69Mwucw
1.We start off with a shot of every house in the neighborhood then going to a shot of a sad kid that looks like she doesn’t have the Christmas spirit in her anymore, then we transition to 3 food panda drivers getting notifications on their phone, after that they all prepare their outfits which have a Christmas theme to them and also making presents for the people they’ll deliver to. Then in the next shot we see them knock on various doors implying they went through the whole neighborhood, then we see Santa trying to fix his sleigh which appears to be broken, then we get to see him talk to the food panda drivers making sure that they delivered all the presents, then we go back to the girl that looked down now with a positive look on her face. Then finally the 3 drivers drive off through the night giving the idea that they will deliver more presents to everyone else.
2.The sound effects in the video were high-quality and the music was a remix of a Christmas song with some hip-hop sounds added to it, the lighting of the houses were spectacular giving such a positive feeling to anyone watching, and the angles they used portrayed that we are getting a look into how people react and it also gives us a good view on everyone in the video, especially Santa and the drivers, they even gave the dog it’s own part in the video.
3.Food panda created a message of them reliable even when it’s Christmas season, showing that their employees would still work hard on giving everyone a good holiday to remember, they used the Christmas spirit to grab my attention, I don’t think people would get another message from this video other than food panda deliverers are reliable. This video showed me how hard-working some of the employees are even on holidays just so that they could support their family and give other families a good holiday night with the food they want delivered. This message was sent for the sole purpose of showing how dedicated Food Panda is to bringing joy to our holidays.
4.I think that the message was well made and had high-quality production, I also think that the food panda workers should get paid more, considering they have to work throughout the holiday and sacrifice their time that could’ve been spent with their families instead of delivering goods, but if they wanted to do that its their decision. I accept this message because Food Panda just wants to show us how willing they are to provide us with good service even in times where they are extremely busy, like in the holiday season.

Grab a Coca-Cola® at pasarapin ang salu-salo
“Christmas finds its way”
1.Visuals
The visual kept changing through different camera angles and backgrounds as the video progressed. The camera angle would switch between eye-level, low, canted, and worm’s eye but it was mostly focused on the main character and his mother. The lighting was made to resemble the night before Christmas since the advertisement is Christmas related.
2.Sounds
The background music was a fast-paced type of Christmas beat that shows the number of mistakes the main character made while cooking with his mother. The music not just the stress the main character had during his cooking but also shows that he cherishes those times he had with his mother. There were no voice overs or sound effects (I think) being used for this commercial which surprised me when I watched it.
3. 5 Core Concepts of MIL
The message was made by Coca-Cola company. If I were to say what got my attention it is the trial and error the main character did while his mother is just standing right behind him observing. It depends on the person who watches because some might just think it is just advertisement, some are just irritated since it just comes up while they are enjoying watching something else, or they just skip it entirely. Value and cherish your family are what is being represented. The message is sent out to value and give time to your family because we don’t when we would have to say goodbye and also buy the product.
4.Insights
My insight is more on sad reality everything isn’t permanent. We must enjoy the time we have with the ones we love and cherish them in our memory. I would definitely accept this message since I feel connected to it.
Snickers Mr. Bean TV advert
1.Visuals
Every time I see this advertisement it's just going to make me laugh now. It’s a 1-minute quick video on martial arts experts trying to infiltrate something I presume but with Mr. Bean in the mix just makes the infiltration hilarious instead. The camera angles switch between low, high, eye-level, and bird’s eye view.
2. Sounds
The background music is a martial arts type seriousness, but Mr. Bean is just making the video hilarious on serious situations. The side characters just keep telling him to focus up but it is not working at all.  In the ending it does have a voice over and the video uses sound effects too. The lighting is more focused on Mr. Bean to make him the center of attention
3. 5 Core Concepts of MIL
The message was made by AMV BBDO. What got my attention is definitely Rowan Atkinson being a part of it with the role of Mr. Bean. People would definitely get the message differently since to me it is more focused on comedy than the product itself but having Rowan Atkinson there would attract a lot of attention since he is more or less globally known for his role as Mr. Bean. To make sure to take care of yourself because you would act differently than usual if not. Although that message is hard to see by the comedy. The message is being sent for comedy and the selling of the product if I were to say.
4.Insights
I don’t exactly have a lot of insights into this but to take care of yourself. When you need to eat then eat, you need to drink then drink. By how they use comedy as a way to attract people is smart if I were to say. I would accept the message.

Textual Analysis - ADS (B03)
FILAFUSION KUN’s same winter coat.
Topic: Up-and-Coming
Visuals (lighting, camera angles, shot type)
The visual effects give me the feeling that it is very simple and fashionable.  Including those typographically designed and using typographical content that resembles magazine content.  The theme of their winter coats this time is simplicity, calmness, and confidence, so I think this advertising video is related to the product itself.
2. Sounds (background music, sound effects, voice-over)
The music he plays is pure music.  The music is more rhythmic and not heavy metal.  The whole video is changing with the rhythm of the music so it is very suitable.
3. Five Core Concepts of MIL
This message was created by FILAFUSION. The style they use is simple and stylish, which fits well with the person they found to bring this product and the theme of their brand. I personally like the style, so it will be more appealing to me. Others may think the style doesn't look good or the person in the video doesn't look right in this outfit, etc. Everyone has a different opinion, and that's normal. The lifestyle is about keeping the eyes of the street focused on one heart and one mind in love, daring to stretch yourself, resonating with the new generation, and being bold and free and authentic. This message is sent out to promote your brand, to promote your branded products and to get people to emerge among their respective lives.
4. Evaluate your insights.
My insight is that they have put a simple and subdued theme for me to see, and that being brief is what is called on point. I would accept this media message because in the future I may use this style for my PowerPoint. For me it is one more item on all styles.
Pepsi Sugar-Free (Pepsi China)
Topic: Explore The Metaverse
Visuals (lighting, camera angles, shot type)
The visual effects can only be said to be very cool. The camera runs and transition scenes and shots including shots are clean. The edited shots are exploring the universe, slowly walking into the depths of the universe.
2. Sounds (background music, sound effects, voice-over)
The music they use is just so captivating that it totally immerses you in the exploration.
3. Five Core Concepts of MIL
This message is made by Pepsi China.  They use a lot of cosmic elements.  Others will find it confusing and incomprehensible.  The lifestyle represented is: “Dare to explore the future imagination and enjoy the refreshing moment.” It is for the publicity of new product release.
4. Evaluate your insights.
The first time I saw this ad I was blown away, it was really cool. I would accept the message of this media because there is still something to learn. From the dribbling of the camera, the transitions, to the camera angles there are new ideas in my mind.

Textual Analysis - ADS (B04)
Selecta Cornetto "Bes" commercial
The photography method used in this advertisement is a head-up, allowing viewers to watch the video from the first perspective of a bystander. It takes the form of a story, and it makes people want to watch it. In the beginning, they were in the distant view, and when the protagonist spoke later, they switched to the close-up. Let the audience feel that they are approaching and that they are not far from the protagonist. When the protagonist is speaking, turn the camera to another person's picture, so that the audience can feel the other person's emotions more intuitively.
The music it uses is relatively warm. It gives people a feeling that the years are quiet and good, like water flowing forever. People can know from the protagonist's dialogue and atmosphere. They have been good friends for a long time. The laughter and slapstick in the dialogue between them and the cautiousness of the male protagonist towards the girls are very real. I like it, but I'm afraid that I won't be able to be friends after being punctured, which is very engaging.
This message was made by Selecta Cornetto. They used a good storyline to attract the attention of teenagers and above. Because of the sweet plot development and curiosity about whether the hero will confess his love. It will make the audience want to watch it. Others may think that such a plot is very old-fashioned, and what's more, if they haven't seen the last ice cream commercial, they may not know that it is an advertisement. The value of the video is that they want to make those who like their "good friends" but dare not confess their courage, and their advertisement also provides a new way to express love. If you're afraid to confess, maybe you can point an ice cream at the person you like. This message is being sent for more people to know or buy their product.
My insight on the content's message is that if there is someone you like, you can boldly confess. What if he likes you too, but he's too embarrassed to confess? If both of you are embarrassed to confess your love, why not use ice cream to confess your love? Say "Whoever the arrow points to, you like whoever", and then point to the person you like, there may be unexpected gains. If it were me, I might take this message. Because I think it is very cute, and I like to watch some sweet love stories, so if you say buy ice cream, you can confess, I will let my friends who have loved ones around me try it.
Soda Stream ad banned from Superbowl
This ad is in the form of a hilarious story. But this form is a bit confusing because a person appears inexplicably in the middle section. There are many forms of photography applied. For example, the distant view of the two truck drivers at the beginning and when the two drivers are running fast, the camera cuts to their feet. Also, when the camera switches to the employees of the supermarket, the eyes of the employees express the expressions of the people watching the advertisement.
The music used in this video is like the background music that is being used in funny racing videos. When the two drivers were about to enter the store, the Pepsi driver's goods suddenly started to explode, and the other driver's goods also started to explode. The sound was unexpected. Attract the attention of both the person watching the video and the person next to him.
This message was created by AdNews Australia. I'm drawn to the music that's upbeat which doesn't seem to fit the video. Then I found out how funny the ad was, and looked forward to who would win at the end. Others may be attracted by the confusing desire of the drivers and the expressions of the shop assistants. But I think our expressions about the explosion of all the products in the final truck are consistent with the expressions of the shop assistants in the video. At the end of the video, the driver of coca cola comforts the driver of Pepsi, as if saying that it has already happened and it’s okay. The message was sent for more people to buy their product and know about the product.
I was confused after watching the video. Although its story situation is good, it makes people feel very cheerful and funny. But I think it will make people ignore their products. People, attention is likely to forget about their product after watching the video and thinking it's funny. Although they may push the video to their friends because of the funniness of the video. But most people will most likely focus on the story. If it were me, I probably wouldn't buy this product. It does not highlight the usefulness and benefits of the product, and what attracts me is only the story in the advertisement.

Colgate “Brush Brush Brush” commercial jingle
1. The visuals in this commercial are great they picked some of the best lightings depending on which part of the day it was in the commercial. They made sure the camera angles focused on the kids and the movements they were doing to clearly send the message. They shot it close to the kids so they would be the center of attention.
2. Their background music was a happy little jingle which makes it appealing to kids. The sound effects were happy tones. The voice-over is great they used kids to make up this commercial to attract more kids to use their product because they see another kid using it unlike if it were an adult.
3. This message was made by Colgate. They used a lot of colorful visual effects mainly to get the attention of the kids watching. Some people might see this as a strategy to make them buy the product more since using their product three times a day would run out quicker, leading them to buy more. The value of the message they are trying to send here is to show kids that it is important for them to brush their teeth at least three times a day to avoid cavities. This message is being sent to advertise and use their product.
4. My insights about the message here are that it is indeed important to brush our teeth at least three times a day because good hygiene can go a long way. I would accept the message because it is far more expensive to have a cavity removed than just buying the product. When you have good-looking teeth it will not go unnoticed.
May RiteMED ba nito commercial
1. They used basic lighting here to make the faces brighter. The camera angles zoomed in and out of segments, they zoomed out in some segments in order to see the big groups and zoomed in when it was one or two people in the segment. They shot it close most of the time.
2. They put a catchy jingle as the background music and made a catchy song out of the product. The sound effects made the song more catchy. The voice-over was a great decision, they chose Susan Roces who was elderly at that time (rest in peace), and made it obvious that they were targeting elderly people with this product.
 3. This message was created by RiteMED. They made a catchy song and hired an old famous actor to attract more elderly people to buy their product and also made that song stuck in my head forever. Some people might view this as a scam there are a lot of people that believe these types of products don’t work and making a catchy song wouldn’t change their mind. The values in this message are to consult your doctor when you are experiencing major pain especially if you are an elderly person and don’t be afraid to ask what this product brings. This message is being sent to spread awareness of staying healthy and having the right medicine for your problems.
4. In my opinion this is definitely useful to help stop the pain. It depends if I would accept the message the only time I would accept this message is if my doctor prescribed me to take RiteMED. But I do believe that RiteMED is a good medicine to take.

Textual Analysis - ADS (13)
Trivago helps you find a great deal on your hotel
1. The lighting that was used was for the setting of the hotel, it was used to suit the situation. The camera angles changes from zoomed in to zoomed out, going to zoom in for the reactions of each person and zooming out to see the conversation as a whole. The shots are taken at eye-level to focus the perspective of the viewer.
2. The background music was pleasant and light to set the scene. There was a dramatic dun-dun for the shock factor. The voice-over happens at the start to advertise.
3. Trivago used the interaction of two people. The woman who thought she was a getting a good deal and the man who got the better deal. Some people might see this and think that they’re “cheating”. Using an app to get you good deals at a hotel seems too good to be true. This message is being sent for the profit of the company.
4. I think it’s nice being able to scour deals or nice rooms that fits within your budget quickly. I’d accept it, after all the deals already exist it’s not like the hotel is being scammed. Trivago just helps shorten the amount of time you’d need to search for the best deals.
Do Your Best Schoolwork Faster | Better Results with Grammarly
1. The lighting used was pretty natural. The camera angles were concentrated on the main advertiser talking, following her movements. The shot type was ay eye-level.
2. The background music was light and kind of jazzy. The sound effects got louder when Grammarly was being used. The whole advertisement had the woman speaking, no voice-over.
3. Grammarly used a targeted ad for students. Showing examples of how it works and helps each struggling student. Some people might be a little prideful when it comes to using tools to help boost their grades. There are times when Grammarly won’t be able to properly do what you want, in the end the choice is yours. This message is being sent for the profit of the company.
4. I think Grammarly can definitely help with expanding vocabulary and correcting certain words to suit a sentence better. I’d accept it, I personally don’t use it but I’d understand if other people do. It can be comforting to have something correct a paper when you feel insecure about it.

Textual Analysis - ADS 08
Kevin Durant & Dwyane Wade Gatorade Commercial
1 They used a variety of visual effects in this commercial. During the basketball game montage, they used a lot of camera flashing lights. The camera angles they used were slow and fast paced. They shot it closely at the player. They made sure that he was the center subject.
2 During the training montage, they played motivational music which made it seem very intense. In the basketball game, the sound was very isolated. They lowered the volume of the crowd so that you could hear the ball bounce and the screeching of the sneakers. For the whole commercial, not a single person talked.
3 This message was created by Gatorade. This message was made to focus on athletes. I think the message they’re trying to show is to win from within. An athlete is not affected by the words or actions of others, and they are not motivated by wins or prizes to work hard. There is nothing outside of them that gives them strength. They have learned the skill of winning from inside. They hired well-known individuals like Dwyane Wade and Kevin Durant from the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder, which are well-known organizations. They showed the players using their products through a variety of shots. They did so because it makes the product more appealing to the viewer. From the beginning of the advertisement, Kevin Durant woke up from his sleep after his dunk was blocked by Dwanye Wade. And when he was able to dunk on him, Dwayne Wade was awakened from his sleep. Some would say one man’s dream is another’s nightmare. Or that the entire commercial was just Dwanye Wade’s dream. Kevin Durant awoke from his nightmare and went straight to work. He did cardio exercises, lifted weights, and ran in the morning. The majority of the advertisement was seen from Kevin Durant’s perspective. Gatorade wants the audience to learn from your failures. Get back up and try again even though you failed the first time so that you can succeed. Also, by presenting images of the player using their products, they encourage viewers to buy the products they are advertising.
4 I think they did a great job of delivering and showing the content’s “Win from Within” message. The commercial’s idea was very original. And the way they put everything together was fantastic. I think I will accept the message of this media. For me, this commercial is inspirational because it tells the viewer to not give up and to win from within. It motivated me to do things and to not be afraid to fail.
C2 Cool & Clean Commercial
1 The video is highly eye-catching. The colors are lively and energizing. It has a natural vibe thanks to the addition of leaves fluttering in the air. Plus, they captured many close-ups of the drink bottle.
2 The entire video is accompanied with ukulele guitar. The video’s narration gives the impression that the advertised item is brand-new and innovative. Close-ups of the ice tea and leaves fluttering through the air are also shown.
3 This message was created by C2. It was created to advertise their new product designs. They wanted the audience to understand that adjustments were being made and that the iced tea is natural and fresh. Between each frame, flashing lights were used to give the impression that it was lively and bright. They displayed several people drinking the beverage, leaving the viewer thirsty. Secondly, by mentioning on the packaging that the iced tea was brewed and bottled on the same day, it gives the impression that the beverage is new and fresh. Various people could view this as a marketing gimmick designed to drive up the cost of their products. Or that by changing their branding, it gives the products to a viewer the impression of being fresh and intriguing. Moreover, it encourages the observer to try the product by making it appear extremely vibrant and colorful. The use of attractive men and women leads viewers to believe that the product is suitable for them. They are also dressed in fashionable clothes. When viewers see people using a product, they feel excluded and are tempted to try it themselves.
4 The message of the advertisement, “Tea for a better life,” is easily visible to the viewers. It is claiming that drinking tea has several health advantages. Furthermore, altering the design encourages customers to try the product once again due to its improved appearance. I myself don’t drink iced tea, so I would reject this media’s message. But if they do, the message will connect with them.

Media Information Literacy (B04)
Media information literacy is a person's ability to access, analyze, and use the media information. It refers to people's ability to choose, understand, question, evaluate, and communicate when facing different kinds of media information. The media has made our life more convenient, receiving more and faster information. The beauty of the media is that it allows us to keep in touch with important events happening on the other side of the world no matter where we are in the world and to connect us with friends and relatives far away. Its shortcomings are also obvious. There are people who rely on the online world that no one knows who he/she really is, and casually accuse others on the internet as if they really know the truth of some stated situations. But the truth is they’re just venting their anger and bad moods which came from the real world to those people they don’t know in the media world.
The types of media I know are magazines, newspapers, TV news, radio, and websites/social media. In my opinion, magazines and newspapers have gradually stepped out of people's field of vision. Not that many people will buy magazines or newspapers to read news or learn about information, but there are still very few elderly people who will buy them. Although there are photos and a small amount of information on it, most of them are from people who wrote the newspapers or magazines, and their personal views on the situation. And their views and information are limited. TV news and radio is still a big trend now. Many people still sit in front of the TV and wait for the news to broadcast, and some drivers turn on the radio while driving to know about the news happening around the world or in their country. The above information will be more reliable and multi-faceted, because a radio or TV station has many employees who provide information and opinions, and it is established through the inspection and consent of the national security department, and the information will be relatively credible. The website/social media is now the most powerful information provider. Because if you want to know more information about something, just move your fingers and search for relevant information, you can know what you want to know. You can also see all kinds of different viewpoints, express your own views on the state of affairs, and discuss with people how the event or situation is going on and what the outcome will be.
My favorite medium is WeChat. It is a bridge between me and my family abroad, and a tool to bring me closer to my friends. Without it, I would have no way of reaching my family and friends abroad. I can also see a lot of news from all over the world with it . I use it for about 5 and a half hours a day. I have been using it for three years. Most of the media I use is related to the internet since my generation grew up with it. I’ve just noticed that people on the internet somehow have the power to judge someone on the highest spot of morality, that the victim shouldn’t have done that bad thing or why is the victim so rude, without even knowing what was the truth and progress of that specific thing or event. Some of them just put random accusations on the victim. There are also some people that express their anger on social media by cyberbullying because they could hide who they really are. The media is not a place outside the law, it should be a tool to make our lives more convenient, but not a weapon to hurt people in masks.
The purpose of learning media and information literacy is to know how to analyze and make use of the information and be able to communicate in a proper and well mannered way on media with other people with different points of view. I want to learn to use media information without plagiarism in this class, because I’m not really sure now whether I’m plagiarizing or not whenever I use information from the media.

Media is any means of mass communication, this includes anything from newspapers to radios to television to the internet, and it is currently being used by a wide majority of the population. My favorite form of media is the internet, this is because of the wide range of possibilities it provides to you with minimal effort. You can search up pretty much anything you can think of, and it is a reliable source for information, news, communication, and entertainment.
The internet is an ever-evolving piece of media with many different mediums within it, these mediums include everything from Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Snapchat, Twitter and so on and so forth. Within all these types of social media, I use Messenger and Discord the most, but my favorite one is Twitter. I use Messenger the most because I use it talk with my friends and family and I use Discord so that I can call with my friends when we are playing a game together, on average my screen time on both apps is around 10 hours a day. Twitter on the other hand, is where I get my information and news about the world, if I didn’t use Twitter, I would not have known that Queen Elizabeth died or about the war in Ukraine, not only that, Twitter also shows me a side of the world where people are being oppressed and shunned at such as the LGBT community and the black community. I also use Twitter to rant on and on about the things that are happening in my life just because it feels like an outlet where I can say anything I want and get no backlash. Twitter is a site that accepts freedom of speech unlike other social media platforms that are getting bribed to suppress people bad mouthing their company or organizations. The impact of these mediums on our lives represents a new way of living, it makes everything more efficient and less sophisticated but there are downsides to this, such as internet addiction, cyber bullying.
The biggest social media platform in the Philippines is Facebook, almost everyone I know has Facebook, this is because Facebook is a good way to share stories and images of yourself to others. Some other people have radios instead, this is because some Filipinos don’t have access to the internet or their environment does not support it, with this in mind, the only way of knowing what’s going on outside of where they live is through tuning in to the nearest news station. If you compare the media in the Philippines with America’s, you would see a difference in how media is shared. In America, the people are a lot more open-minded and more supportive of minorities such as the Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and the LGBT. If one is not careful online, they might get scammed or hacked for their information and data, this is because there are a lot of malicious people and organizations in the world, people that would do anything to climb up the corporate food-chain within their organization, even if they have to steal from the innocent. With that in mind, this is why people should learn more about media and information literacy, so that they would be able to navigate and explore the internet with less worries and doubts.

Media and Information Literacy (B09)
My favorite medias that I use are the phone, social media, music, and video games. Its impact in my daily life was important to me for I use social media and video games to connect, talk, and play with my friends and family. The social medias I use are Facebook and YouTube, Facebook for connecting with friends and family and YouTube for entertainment or educational purposes. I use music to help me control my emotions when I’m happy, angry, or even depressed. I listen to pop music when I am in peace usually listen to a composer named Cody Fry, his songs put my mind at ease and help me put me back on track. I spend on my phone for around 3 to 4 hours for social media and video games it is around 6 to 7 hours each day. I started using my phone around the middle of grade 6 and started playing online video games around grade 7. The different medias that I know about are books, newspapers, television, social media, and music. The most powerful media I think would be social media and most dangerous because it gives out huge influence in the community and sometimes it would be good but also be bad. Social media can give out news reports, help catch up people up in trends, and help connect to people close by, or far away but there will also be cons like fake news, scams, and even predators.
The impact of media in our lives is big because there many types of media every day that we can use. Online games are an example it gives a way for people to communicate to each other while having fun but of course there are such things as a toxic community. These toxic communities even if they are strangers from the internet, it can still hurt others. Another terrible thing about online games is that there also people who use it for anything sexual to a child, they are also known as online predators. These online predators use the internet to try to connect to their victims whether it be social media like Facebook or online games like Roblox. The advantages are that people are able to get updated with the latest news whether it be international or local, it also helps educate us with the different cultures, languages, and information from different countries, and helps people show their hidden talents, it can be singing, dancing, acting, or comedy. As for the disadvantages, medias can be addictive when not controlled, some media contents are not suitable for children so they will be limited, and people can make different anonymous accounts to scam or to ruin a person’s reputation. The medias in the Philippines are the newspapers and televisions. The newspaper in the Philippines gives out recent news and short stories sometimes crossword puzzles. The most widely read newspapers are Manila Bulletin, The Philippine Star, and Philippine Daily Inquirer. The television in the Philippines gives out not just news but entertainment. Some examples of broadcasters for television are the PTV, RPN, and IBC. The U.S. and the Philippines medias are more or less similar because on how we use them. Both the countries’ people use the same medias for anything educational or entertainment so for me I would say there is no difference.
Media and information literacy are necessary and essential because without it people will have a hard time distinguishing scams or fake news. It is very essential for people to practice them. I don’t really like putting expectations in classes, so I don’t have any comment for this nor do I have any questions but so far, I'm alright on how it is right now.

Media and Information Literacy (13)
Twitter is my favorite media, despite its toxic tendencies and overwhelming user's opinions. I got it initially to follow some creators that were a lot more active in twitter but I ended up staying because of the creativity of certain accounts. They'd make beautiful artwork and short stories that capture my interest. It's a good pastime for me, scrolling through my feed and seeing all these works of art. I've had twitter for a little more than a year and I spend around 2hrs a day on it.
There are two types of media, traditional and new media. Traditional is everything before the age of the internet. And new media everything the internet offers. I think the most powerful media is social media, you can find all kinds of things on there. People's personal lives(or some fake ones), entertainment, news of all types, and you can share pretty much anything you want. The impact of media is somewhat overwhelming. When everyone is given access to something seemingly wonderful, boundless creativity blossoms. (Obviously that doesn't mean everyone has good intentions.) Media in a sense is a whole new world, and you get to explore it yourself. It's a way to express yourself, a way to communicate with others. In the world of media you can meet people with the same interests as you. Of course even in this new world there are dark corners. Cyberbullying, for some reason people tend to allow themselves to be more cruel just because they can hide behind their accounts. Toxicity online has somewhat been normalized because it was excused with, "These people are strangers, why does what I say matter to them?", this idea has enabled people to be viscious for fun. To let out their frustrations on a poor soul on the internet. Addiction, media can sometimes be a way of escape for some. They find a comfort in it that the real world hads't offered them. People spend whole days playing a video game, without sleep and rest. Hours and hours mindlessly pressing play again, with no thought of stopping.
Media in the Philippines and media in the US are similar because of the way people use them. Lots of people use media for entertainment, I'd say more than for learning purposes. Netflix, facebook, twitter, etc. are all things people use for entertainment or to connect with other people. People in the Philippines and people in the US may have a lot of differences but at the end of the day we are all still people. Each person uses media differently but with the same purposes. They differ due to freedom of speech. In the US news outlets are allowed to tell people the truth, to broadcast what the people need to know. Newspapers are allowed to headline corruption of the government. In the Philippines it is the opposite, if you have anything to say against the government you'll have to bite your tongue. News outlets have been banned trying to tell people the truth. People have been locked up because they disagreed. History is being erased and now repeated because the truth was hidden and glossed over.
Media and information literacy is important because if you aren't literate you'll be easily fooled by fake news. And fake news runs rampant so to be able to know the difference between real and fake news we have to practice literacy. I don't exactly know what to expect from this class, but I'm perfectly content the way it is now.

Media and Information Literacy (B03)
My favorite media is WeChat. The reason is before the pandemic, it didn't have much influence or importance to me, but I mainly used it to make phone calls or send messages, and I only used it for a little bit. At that time, we were all still together and could meet or chat at any time. For example, my grandmother, she went back to China with us in December 2019, and then in January, we came back first, because she had to spend the Spring Festival in China so now she is still in China. During the pandemic I felt the importance of communication, if there was no video chat and voice calls only long-distance calls like before, we would have been very anxious because we couldn't see our family and couldn't make phone calls thus. So that's the impact and importance of new media.
I don't really spend a long time, if at all it's just catching up with friends on gossip and sharing fun everyday things. I signed up for the account in 2016 and used it until now, which is six years ago. The types of media I know of are: print media (newspapers, magazines), broadcast media (TV, radio), out-of-home or outdoor media (OOH), and the Internet. I think the most powerful is the Internet because as long as you have a cell phone you can watch whatever kind of video, picture, or book you want. Download it and you can see everything in the whole universe. And the Internet is very fast, what you want to see just search and it pops up. I think the media has a great influence on us. Some people just open their eyes every day and pick up their phones and start browsing various apps without even going to wash up or prepare breakfast first, that's the disadvantage of media. Another disadvantage is that some people will post something that is not true, and then the elderly, children, and even people at work will believe it, and then the word will spread. The advantage is that, as I said before, you can quickly see the news and contact your family and friends. Newspapers are still read but the old people haven't learned how to use social media yet. TV is watched by everyone but I don't really know what channels it has, I just know that some of the more popular programs are still on. Cable TV was in use at our house when I was a kid, but we haven't used cable since we got wireless TV. It was a hassle to move and then have to apply for cable again. Social media can also spread rumors quite a lot, such as no classes tomorrow and so on, only to look at the date, it turns out that last year's news was forwarded again this year, if you do not look carefully then you will believe.
The similarity is that they send out things about the government, law, and education all in English. The difference is that Americans are more out of the box and free thinking while Filipinos are more traditional probably because the country was colonized before. Media and information literacy can mislead people's thinking and possibly break the law. I don’t have questions or information that I would to discuss but my expectation in this class is there are no very long essays.

Media and Information Literacy (11)
Social media is my favorite type of media, it has impacted my life in so many ways, and it is important because social media is an easier way of communicating with friends and family and I communicate with them everyday. I spend around 10 hours a day using social media and half of that is usually on Youtube alone. I once had a nokia 1280 as my first phone when we got it for free when my mom got a new phone but when I got an oppo F3 when I was 12, I started using social media and I have been using it ever since. There are a lot of kinds of media the ones I know are social media, newspapers, magazines, television, and radio. I think social media is the most powerful media because there are a lot of people that just believe in what they see on the internet and could influence a whole generation, granted not everyone uses social media but as time goes on everybody is going to be using it, the younger generation would probably not know what a newspaper is because social media is that big and it is faster to see the news there rather than wait for the newspapers to publish.
Media has a very big impact in our daily lives. We use media everyday for communication, entertainment, news, and more, if there is no media in our daily lives it would be harder to communicate to people, you won’t get breaking news as fast, and you wouldn’t be that entertained without it. The advantages of media is that it gives us information on what is happening in this world, it is also easier for some people to communicate using social media rather than talking to them in person. Then the disadvantages there are always disadvantages in everything, as we know there is a lot of fake news in the media there are also a lot of scammers lurking everywhere trying to catch their next victim, it also reduces eye sights when you do it for so long that is why there are so many people that wear eyeglasses these days, not everybody lost their perfect vision because of this but there are certainly a lot that have. In our country newspapers and magazines are starting to get less and less because everything nowadays are in social media pages such as facebook, Instagram, twitter, and etc. even at home they are probably not using newspapers and magazines anymore and only use social media because they have practically everything there already.
The media in the U.S. is pretty similar with the media in the Philippines granted people in the U.S. definitely know more media than us people in the Philippines but we aren’t really behind in any type of media they have, we basically adapt the media from them. Media and information literacy is necessary in a lot of ways it can be about understanding something, it can also be business related, and it can also be awareness of fake news with people constantly posting and spreading awareness of fake news. The things I expect from this class is we will learn more media information to further understand it’s presence in this world. I don’t have any questions or information regarding media.

Media Information Literacy 08
Some of my favorite media are social media, television and music. Its impact and importance in my daily life is very important because I use social media to talk to friends online to communicate in a daily basis. I always listen to music as a kind of therapy and to have inner peace. And I use Television to watch the news and watch shows to relax every once and a while. I usually spend around 12 hours or more on You Tube, Facebook and Instagram but it's mostly on You Tube. And I usually spend 4 hours listening to music and watching the television. I’ve been using social media ever since I had my own phone, which was around 6 years ago. Watching television with my sibling is one of my earliest memories. Some of our favorite TV shows are SpongeBob SquarePants, Fairy Odd Parents, and the Mr. Bean cartoon. As a child and as an almost adult now, I still watch some of these shows. Listening to music has always been my go-to if I want to relax or chill. I’ve listened to different kinds of genres. From soul to jazz to rock. I have basically listened to them all. But some of my favorite genres are hip-hop/rap, OPM and lo-fi. My whole family are avid music lovers, and we all have different musical taste. My parents prefer to manila sound and disco while my siblings like to listen to K-pop, modern rock and rap. The different kinds of media I know of are social media, newspapers, magazines, television, radio, music, films and books. I think the television is the most powerful type of media. TV is the most popular form of video and has a big and diverse audience. And compared to the stuff you see on the internet, the advertisements and shows you see are filtered and has ratings. Unlike in the internet, some stuff isn’t ‘’safe’’ for young children and aren’t checked. Even though almost every person has a type of phone or tablet, a lot of people still have TVs.
Media has a significant impact on our daily lives. Every single day we use some kind of media and without it, we couldn’t communicate with people around the world, we wouldn’t get the earliest news but we’ll get it by word on the street. Media provides up-to-date information from around the world. It serves as a good source of entertainment through music and television programs. It helps people around the world to be understanding of each other and welcome their differences. But just like everything in the world, it has its disadvantages. Extended television watching or binging the internet cause vision problems and could eventually lead to addiction. Spreading lies or fake news isn’t new in the spectrum of the media, someone could easily pretend to be someone and take advantage of their name. Newspapers and magazines aren’t what they used to because media sites nowadays post on their websites and other platforms like Facebook. Cable isn’t as use today compared to the past decade or so because most people use their smartphones and such to get the latest news and the TV shows can also be watched in the internet. According to Statista.com, social media users in The Philippines will only go higher and higher by 2026. The Philippines have been called the social media capital of the world because most of the social media users have an extraordinarily high usage time of about four hours per day. And an overwhelming 98% of Filipinos has access to social media.
People in the U.S. are more open to what they want to say compared to The Philippines wherein people are being judged more. And I think media is more available to the public in the U.S. compared to The Philippines. And most of our media comes from them as well. Especially in the Philippines, we always have some kind of fake news and misinformation. I think that if The Philippines wants to produce the same or better material than U.S. publishers, they need to be original with their ideas, have a good work ethic and just be themselves. I think media and information literacy is necessary because it helps us with every day thing such as it helps people understand the messages that are being communicated to them. And with many sources of information, it can help people identify reliable sources. It also makes effective use of information. What I expect in this class is that we’ll keep on studying media further and understand it better. I don’t have any question or information regarding media that I would like to be discussed in the class.
