The Action for Trans Health Solidarity Fund is now open for applications. The deadline is 9th April 2017.

If you or a trans or gender-variant person living in the UK who cannot access healthcare treatment through the NHS in a timely manner, this fund offers financial help in order to access healthcare as well as helping with bills, counselling, sick pay, etc.

A proportion of this funding round will be ring fenced for trans people of colour.

Urgent: I just got a job, so I need to set up a bank account. My parents are gonna come with me to set it up. Thing is, I change my name legally without them knowing nearly 2 years ago and don't know how to tell them this before we go to the bank. But they do not accept me being trans. I need to tell them before otherwise we might end up having an argument in the bank. I would rather get the argument out of the way before hand as it is inevitable anyway. How can I tell them?? (okay to post)

Um... that’s going to be a difficult conversation to have, especially with them not being accepting. Is there anyone else who can go with you or does it have to be them?Regarding having that conversation: That name is your legal name and they can’t change it, so they might a well accept it. It might be easiest to present them with evidence of that and just be like ‘Look, this happened, this is the name I’m going to have to use with the bank’.

Whoops. I kind of left this one a bit behind, didn't I. So what's new? - I now run a trans social support group in Leeds Monthly. More details incoming. - I will be at Bradford Pride this weekend!
