Unfortunately, President Biden has signed the bill into a law. The law will effectively ban TikTok unless ByteDance sells to an American company.

I am still doing research on what exactly the bill will do, but this is what is being said right now. I do not know when the bill will be put into effect.

Hello, I'm here to talk about HB3. You're probably wondering what HB3 is (since barely anyone's talking about it), to give a basic rundown on what this thing is, HB3 is a law that's similar to KOSA. Except it's for Florida exclusively. It aims to “protect” minors online by making them more unsafe. Like taking away safe spaces and crucial information.

If you live in Florida, don't give up or panic! iirc, it's having legal trouble due to it being unconstitutional. But Don't feel relieved yet, Kansas has done something similar (I'll probably talk about that later)

Now is there anything that we can do? Of course! But we can't call them since it already passed as a law (I think) the most we can do is protest and spread awareness. If you have friends or mutuals in Florida let them know!!

What is the current status of KOSA? As of last night, 2024-04-20, this is what congress.gov had to say about it:

I'm seeing lots of posts fearmongering about how it's passed the Senate and is now in the House.

I've seen coordinated attacks against the democratic process over the past 8+ years. It would not surprise me in the least to learn that this might be part of a coordinated attack to get us to let up pressure on our Senators, letting them think that we're suddenly okay with it.

Please remember that Tumblr can just as easily be used to spread misinformation as Twitter or Facebook or Instagram or TikTok. Check authoritative sources.

What I would do? Call your senators, your representative, and the White House switchboard to leave comments on pending legislation.

The government website says it's still in the Senate. Call your senators to oppose it as a current issue.

Call your representative to oppose it as a heads-up to ensure they are aware of it and your opposition.

Call the White House to ensure that President Biden knows not to sign it if it crosses his desk.

Former President Trump already destroyed 50 years of women's rights, and presided over the initial hysteria of the anti-trans groups. He appointed enough justices to the Supreme Court that we're guaranteed social regression until at least two conservative justices retire and are replaced with new Ruth Bader Ginsbergs. He and the GOP (he is basically synonymous with the GOP, after Laura was elected as co-chair) have done a huge amount of damage to our ways of life and our ability to address climate change and global warming. We need to say that enough is enough, and that they won't deprive us of our abilities to discuss the topics they find uncomfortable and want to prevent any kids from hearing about in any online spaces their kids could possibly stumble into.

OUR LIVES AND EXISTENCE AND CULTURE ARE NOT POLITICAL PAWNS TO BE BARTERED AWAY IN BACKROOM DEALS.

We must stand united, or divided we shall surely perish.

My apologies for not updating on anything this week, there was a death in my family and it has taken a toll on my mental health.

As of right now KOSA has not passed senate. I was unable to listen to the hearing, but according to the official senate website KOSA has not passed.

Small reminder to stay calm even if the bill does get approved tomorrow.

Remember, the bill still has a very long way to go before it becomes an official law all around the U.S., and even if it does get to the president, there will be a very long 18 month time-frame where we can fight as much as we possibly can in order for it to be revoked (remember all of the other laws and bills in the past that got revoked because of protests).

Listen, I get that you're scared. I get that you're scared of losing everything that you've worked for, and that's okay. But thinking that it's all over by tomorrow if it gets approved is not a very good mindset to have. Remember, the reason why it hasn't gotten approved yet is because we've all been speaking out against it and refusing to back down even when it seems hopeless. Be optimistic. Be confident in everyone around you working with you in order to succeed in not letting these terrible bills pass.

It's not just KOSA you should be fighting against either. There are many bills like the recent FISA ACT and the Earn It Act that are also threats to our rights. Please advocate against those just as much as you've done for KOSA. Let's fight for our futures together as one.

Hello.

I would like to clarify.

KOSA will not be put into effect if a "yes" vote is cast tomorrow.

KOSA has not passed senate. Before it can become a law, it will need to pass house AND be signed by the president. And I have heard that the house is mostly against KOSA, but I have not seen any evidence to support that.

And even if it passes, it won't be put into effect for 18 months after the fact.

I just want to remind everyone that tomorrow It'll be announced wether or not Kosa will happen?

Hello all.

I have been receiving a lot of similar questions regarding KOSA recently, and I wondered whether or not I should make a KOSA masterpost, or a short Youtube video on the subject. Short being about 10-15 minutes as there is a lot to cover regarding the bill.

I would go over what KOSA is, what it would do if it were to pass, and some frequently asked questions on the matter. I would still type out responses to your questions as my voice isn't that understandable to some people (and I would likely have a voice filter on to help protect my identity.)

I have been getting a lot of questions regarding KOSA, so here they are.

KOSA as of 4/11/24 HAS NOT PASSED SENATE. It has merely been introduced to the House. We will not know when exactly KOSA will be voted on, however there is a hearing on the 17th, and KOSA is likely to be discussed.

KOSA will allow legal guardians to manage a minor's account, ergo them being able to see pretty much everything.

As for specifically LGBTQ+ media, the bill will control anything deemed as "harmful to minors." And that view is subjective.

KOSA has unfortunately been introduced to the house of representatives. However, we have not heard if it has passed senate yet.

Please keep fighting. If KOSA becomes law, I will not be able to run this account anymore.

Do you think kosa is actually going to pass?

Cause I keep on hearing rumors that it is going to…

While I do attempt to keep my opinions off of this blog, I will answer this question.

I feel like yes, there is a high probability of KOSA passing. Especially with bills akin to those in Florida and Kansas being passed.

I personally am against KOSA. I need you all to realize that if this passes, my blog is being deleted. I am a minor, and my parents do not know about my social medias. Nor do they need to know.

However, we must realize that

A: KOSA has not left senate as of April 5th (senate will not return until the 8th)

B: Many bills are being produced to provide better solutions to the problem KOSA claims to solve

C: It has to pass every other step in the law making process

D: The bill will not be enforced until 18 months after it is instated.

I highly encourage you all to research and protest. Do not take rumors at face value. Research. Look up what is true. If we don't look into things, misinformation can be spread. We do not know anything for sure until it happens.
