- kicked a guy literally up the ass for hurting steve - bragged about getting into the 107th unit to impress his boyfriend - wrapped steve up really, unnecessarily close after kicking a guy up the ass - brought steve on a blind double date to “the future” and checked up on him more than he did his actual date - got really worried when steve wasn’t there - and left his date to go on a manhunt for his bf (bro friend) - found steve, read him like a book, told him to stay safe, and hugged him - (which is somehow still a lot gayer in context) - he checked steve out the first time he saw him after the super-serum - was visibly uncomfortable when he saw how steve swooned over peggy - “you’re keeping the suit, right?” - literally followed steve right back into the arms of his abusers because he trusted him so much - followed steve home after his mom died and offered to sleep next to him for comfort - gave stevie a lil neck massage and basically told him “til death do us part” - which is apparently such a powerful, meaningful statement that it pushes past years of abuse, torture, and conditioning to completely override his programming and stop him from killing steve - and it doesn’t just stop him from killing steve–it pushes him to actively prevent steve’s death - fondly reminisced about steve wearing newspapers in his shoes - got so distracted by steve’s biceps that he literally flew a helicopter in the wrong direction - stood staring face-to-face to stevie in an elevator and lowkey started blushing - kept a picture of captain america in his diary - like hold on i just want to stress that bucky kept a picture of steve rogers in his diary - why would he do that? you might ask - because he’s gay and loves steve rogers, i answer

>stood up to non-mutant authorities and refused to comply if he thought what they wanted wasn’t in the best interest of mutant-kind

>taken risky decisions in order to preserve/restore mutant-kind

>recognize that mutant survival shouldn’t rely on non-mutant public support

>create a mutant state for persecuted mutants to seek refuge/asylum in

Things Cyclops HASN’T done but Magneto HAS:

>tried to commit genocide against non-mutants

>killed non-mutants solely for being non-mutants

>kill mutants for opposing his vision (AvX doesn’t count, he was possessed)

>tried to create or at the very least idolized a world order where Mutants are the master race and non-mutants are second class citizens

I’M ALWAYS A SLUT FOR JEWISH!BUCKY HEADCANONS

A few of my headcanons were formed by this fic, like him being half-Jewish on his mother’s side and harboring a lot of resentment towards his goyische relatives. But also his dad died when he was pretty young so he was extremely close to his mom and learned how to make all kinds of Jewish food (despite that he would not have been expected to do so) like latkes and matzoh ball soup. He especially loves cooking for other people and sharing the stories he’s heard in shul. 

ALSO: The Magen David (Star of David) literally translates as the SHIELD of David. Captain America’s shield has a star on it (not a Magen David or even a six-pointed one, but still a star so it counts). I like to believe that Steve grew up listening to Bucky tell him all kinds of Jewish stories, and since most of them involve the Jews winning despite all odds, Steve idolized them and wanted to pay homage to them in some small way. 

These are really amazing, omg. Imma be honest; I’d be far more interested in Jewish!Bucky Barnes than white/goyish(correct me if that’s the wrong term, I’m not Jewish)!Bucky Barnes. Because it has SO MUCH potential & would add so many new layers to his character, especially considering the time period he grew up in. If you have any other Jewish!Bucky Barnes headcanons, feel free to share them with me whenever!

Bruh I have SO MANY. Some are really fucking sad though, like how in Judaism you can only be forgiven for something by the person you have wronged, and therefore murder is an unforgivable sin. Even though I bet any rabbi would probably tell Bucky that he does not need to be forgiven because he wasn’t the one committing the crime (since he literally had no control over himself), I still think Bucky would feel guilty and believe that he is unable to gain forgiveness. But then I have a lot of happy ones like Bucky celebrating the High Holidays (and the minor ones) with Steve, Nat, and Sam (and later on with Darcy bc I love the idea of them together and I also headcanon her as Jewish). Tony asking Steve why Bucky always gets grumpy during Christmastime and Steve being like “… because he’s Jewish??? I mean even I’m a little annoyed by how in your face Christmas is now, think of how obnoxious it must be for him” And then there’s how often Bucky would have to deal with people saying “but you don’t LOOK Jewish!!” and “wow, you’re really hot for a Jew” and “Barnes isn’t a Jewish name!”

Edit: okay I have no idea how the formatting got so screwed up but I wanted to add that I also am so much more interested in Jewish!Bucky. Otherwise his character is just manpain and angst and falls really flat.
