TV shows you should be watching
2016 may have given us false hopes, disappointments and dead lesbians, but 2017 has already given us some good gay storylines and characters.
On Netflix, I just finished binge watching the remake “One Day at a Time.” I didn’t watch the original, and most millennials probably didn’t either, but you don’t need to have seen it. It’s a completely different show, with a Cuban family. A single mother veteran raising 2 kids, including a 15 year old girl who *SPOILER ALERT*, comes out! It’s poignant and funny, and very well done.
Kudos to Netflix for its continual representation of lgbt.
Also on Netflix, Degrassi! Zoe finally gets a girlfriend! And (accidentally) comes out to her mom, who is a total bitch about it. But Zoe totally rocked a suit at her wedding. And Grace is gracious enough to let Zoe stay at her house when her mom kicks her out. #friendshipgoals
On network TV, there’s Supergirl. Supergirl’s adoptive sister Alex just came out as gay. She fell for a gay cop. Got shot down because she was too new. Came out to her sister and mom, and eventually got the girl! This is one bad ass couple. If they screw this up by killing one of them I’m gonna be pissed.

Im back! Hi Babe! You're probably the only one reading this :)
Putting 2016 behind me. It was a bad year for gay TV, and a bad year for me. not all bad. Just the horrific ATV accident I had with my girlfriend that everyone told us we shouldn’t have survived. But we are here for a reason, Our wounds have mostly healed, and we have a new appreciation for life! And 2017 is going to be nothing but awesome! For us, and for TV!

Karma: "seeing how close you and Sabrina were tonight drove me a little crazy. I think I finally realize why." I'm not getting my hopes up that this will lead to Karmy becoming a couple. We've already had 2 dream fakeouts. 3 would be too much. I'm speculating this will be the follow up: AMY: you are unbelievable Karma. You would do anything to keep Sabrina and me apart, even pretend to have real feelings for me. You've gone too far this time! Stop standing in the way of my happiness! Of course Amy will eventually get her heart broken by Sabrina and Karma will be there to pick up the pieces.

Faking it...3-04
Last night on Faking It Amy and Karma went their separate ways, and sought distractions from their pain. Amy refinished furniture and made a documentary about Lauren. Karma wrote breakup songs. We got to hear Karma sing again and Shane as well. Their cover of Queens Somebody to Love rocked until the speakers blew out. Shane had to ruin their duo by trying to upstage Karma to impress a boy who only cared about beating him in the competition. If anyone needs a break from dating it’s Shane. At least until he can meet someone worthy of him.
So we got Felix back from rehab. Hopefully he’s only relegated to helping Amy with camera operation and giving advice about Karma and not a future boyfriend. Felix is a nice guy. And we were reminded that Amy doesn’t want to label herself while she goes on this journey. But the destination better be Karma. This actor has already wooed a girl who liked girls. Brenna from Chasing Life. and that show got cancelled. He might be bad luck. Better keep him off screen and away from Amy just to be safe.
In the end tragedy brought the girls back together. I was hoping it would be Liams untimely death, but I’ll take what I can get.
And somebody better have rescued the friendship necklace from Karmas trash can.

Hump day came early!
Karma is the new Robin Sparkles! Or at least Rebecca Black. Karmas song Hump Day is actually kinda catchy. She has nothing to be embarrassed about. Internet fame is all the rage right now. Pretty soon she’ll have more twitter followers than Lauren. Then who’ll be laughing? Karma tried to explain to Amy that Zita kissed her but Amy didn’t buy it. So Karma decided to become the villain Amy was making her out to be by distributing copies of Amy’s journal around campus. Low blow. She made Amy cry. And is there any redemption from that? Karma got compost duty for it and so did Amy after she told Dylan to fall into a volcano for cheating on Karma. No Karma is not that chill. It’s not all good. Hopefully she can be herself and not who others want her to be now. At the end of the episode Amy admits she’s not fully over Karma. And Karma admits she likes Amy being in love with her because it makes her feel good. But she’s still totally straight. No matter how many girls she kisses. Where do they go from here? Well next week Karma starts a band with Shane and Amy decides to make a documentary. I think it’s good they’re doing their own thing. They need to figure out who they are apart before they can be together. And I can’t wait to hear the angsty songs Karma writes about her secret love for Amy.

LGBT characters keep dying on TV. What’s happening?
Another LGBT favorite bit the dust last Sunday in wake of Lexa’s death on The 100.

FAKING IT 03X02
The feels are back guys! All of them.
Such a roller-coaster of emotions during last Tuesdays episode. Amy and Karma sat at different tables at lunch and battled over custody of Shane. No one likes seeing these two fight. But Lauren who has Amy’s full attention and has no other friends wants to keep them apart while Shane tries to get them back together through any means necessary. I almost wanted Amy to eat that nut filled donut so Karma could come running to her rescue. isn’t it sweet how Karma keeps an epi pen in her purse for emergencies? If that’s not love then having a dance routine to Straight Up and telling the same corny jokes is.
We came so close to a reconciliation on the dance floor. Karma was finally going to give up her stubborn nature. They were going to hug and dance and all would be right in the world. Then of course all our hopes were dashed and we fell back to earth. Liams girlfriend Zita kisses Karma (i think Laurens the only one who hasnt kissed Karma now)for much too long right in time for Amy to see and get the wrong idea. So Amy asks what’s going and realizes it wasn’t an intentional strike against her…Just kidding! She runs off and tells Lauren to post that incriminating video of karma on the Internet. So next week we get to see them at war. When we’d much rather see them make love am I right?
The look of love was there though. In the bathroom, the dance floor. Karma seems to only have eyes for Amy. Dylan and Liam who? So I’m not giving up yet.

Faking it 3-1
The 3rd season of Faking it premiered on Tuesday and you can base my excitement about the episode by the fact it took me 5 days to write about it. Ok, it wasn't bad. But I feel like we are rehashing the same plotlines. Karma is mad at Amy. Will their friendship survive? Let me think...obviously. there is no suspense here. Just annoyance. A whole summer has gone by and Amy needed that time away from Karma. Karma cried pools of tears over it. Then decided to become a lifeguard to save herself from drowning in heartache. Amy "got over" Karma by getting under a hot rocker chick. (I aint mad at 'cha)Then she stood strong and refused to apologize for it because she did nothing wrong. Karma in turn passive agressively avoided hanging out with her. All of a sudden she's dating some weird lifeguard hippie and getting a tattoo. She's changing who she is completely. Why? Amy could distinguish between her feelings of friendship and love for Karma. Karma cannot. Her love for Amy is one all encompassing love that cannot be compartmentalized. And until she's ready to accept that she's going to be in a lot of hurt. And she's going to try to be anyone else to try to stop it.

There seems to be a drought of lesbians on tv right now, so let’s go to wear it’s raining gays…Netflix!
If you need a fix of girl on girl lovin, and you’ve already watched Orange is the New Black a million times, here are my recommendations for binge watchable shows:
1)Degrassi: The New Class. Yes. It’s back. Screw you TeenNick. Netflix picked this gay friendly show up and allowed it to really “go there” without restrictions. These 20 minute 10 episodes go by quick and you’ll be begging for more…especially of Grace and Zoe’s budding relationship. Zoe shows she’s more than a bitchy former starlet when she’s with Grace. Grace accepts her for who she is. And I can’t wait to see where their story takes them next.
2) Jessica Jones. This show has brought us Marvels first lesbian character! Jeri. A cut throat lawyer divorcing her wife for her young secretary. You want to hate her. But how can you hate Trinity from the matrix?
And speaking of the matrix…it’s creator brings us 3.) Sense8.. which has a lesbian couple in actual sex scenes.
Binge on, my friends

David Bowie has passed away, just two days after his 69th birthday after an eighteen month battle with cancer. He was a hero, a rebel, and androgynous space oddity that revolutionized rock and rock.
Celebrities and fans all over the world are expressing their grief on social media. Bowie inspired so many throughout the decades of his career. From Adam Lambert to Kanye West.
Adam Lambert via Twitter said: “I love how Bowie challenged people’s perception of gender stereotypes and what an Outsider truly was. He was SO ahead of his time”
Lambert recently toured with Queen, with whom Bowie recorded the song "Under Pressure" in 1981.
Kanye West posted to Twitter: “David Bowie was one of my most important inspirations, so fearless, so creative, he gave us magic for a lifetime.”
They say legends never die. As Bowie once said, “I’m not a prophet or a stone aged man, just a mortal with potential of a superman. I’m living on.”
Indeed he will.

Cake or Calzona?
There are plenty of reasons to hate Callie’s new girlfriend Penny Blake.
1) McDreamy died on her watch
2.) She’s a ginger.
3.) She’s not Arizona
4.) No chemistry
5.) She dresses like a grandma.
Im sure I could go on, but does any of this matter? There are very few lesbians on TV. I get excited when there are lesbians on House Hunters. (Like today! and they had 3 cats named Gus, Benny and LuLu!)
Anyway...
This is who we have to settle for. We’re still watching Grey’s Anatomy after 12 seasons, so we’re obviously desperate.
Do they have a ship name yet? is it Cake? I like cake. But Cake is no cake.
With all the problems Calzona had, at least Arizona is quirky and likable; and prettier than this Penny.
I’m going to assume this Cake pairing is temporary and Callie and Arizona will eventually make their way back to each other once they've had time apart to change for the better and are able to appreciate what they have together.
Stay tuned.

Faking it finale
It was the Faking It season finale, and Karma sobered up and eventually remembered that she kissed Amy at the party. Amy must have spent the whole night wondering what that kiss meant. She must have had fantasies of her and Karma sharing their feelings for each other and making it official and making out for real all the time. Then Karma confronted her about it and apologized for doing it. She should be sorry if she’s only playing with her emotions and giving her false hope.  But its not intentional. And its a tug of war between her deep feelings for Amy and her fear of the possibility of ever losing her. Because romantic relationships can end badly. But their friendship is forever. Karma fought to keep Hester open because she didn’t want to be away from Amy from 8AM to 3PM  Monday through Friday. She broke down in tears when Amy told her she’d be gone on tour all summer. It’s just a few months Karma, calm down. And take this time apart to accept that you’re in love with Amy. Your future dreams can still come true, but even better than you imagine. You won’t need neighboring houses, you can be together all the time in the same house. Best friends and lovers forever. And adopt some cats and eventually kids and live happily ever after.
Don’t lose hope just yet Karmy fans. Karma only said she can’t tell her that kiss meant something. Maybe she’s still not ready to say the words out loud yet. Doesn’t mean it’s not true. This show is called Faking It. Like Karma is clearly faking her platonic feelings for Amy.
And when a couple is end game, you don’t actually get it until the show comes to an end. Even though it can be torture, we don’t want to say goodbye to Karmy just yet.
