My dear people, I have such a huge crush... This is the start of my campaign to make stuff about Spiral and input so much energy into it that the universe will work with me, and we'll get a sequel. (Talk about clowning!) Because come on! We need that sequel!
And it's not just because of the crush! Spiralshipping need to do their thing. I have my ideas of how this story could play out, and I so want to see it unraveled on the big screen. Just like it's fascinating to watch Amanda and John interact, and the brief show of Amanda vs Hoffman in this whole thing, exploring the relationship between Zeke and William is such a goldmine, I think! The possibilities are endless. And I mean, seeing that Spiral is a spinoff movie in the universe, why can't a sequel coexist with Saw XI and the main story (except for the money bit)? Artistically and narratively speaking, it can!
to anyone who has also gone through the heartbreaking experience that is the spiral from the book of saw director's commentary:
i see you, i love you, i hope this wound heals
what i mean by this is the longer you watch, the more you realize how much of the movie didn't make it to the final cut; plus there are what-if mentions of the sequel, and they just hurt, my people, THEY HURT
if you're like me, and you need that dose of spiral again, you want to see how william's character unravels and what his relationship with zeke is after the first movie, this commentary can bring you to tears, i swear
i had to live-tweet, cutting and uploading some parts of it to have some sort of control over how painful it was to get through it without crying (i'm normal i promise)
I love Crowley because he's so aware of what Heaven, Hell, the world are really like, but he gently guides Azi through moral dilemmas and lets him find out harsh truths for himself, supporting along the way, but never forcing his opinions.
I love Crowley because he does little snort laughs and cheesy grins. He bounces around all silly-like, unabashedly himself. He has such an infectious smile.
Because his style is always changing, not because he wants to be with the latest fashion (he's always a bit behind) but because he loves exploring and experimenting with his looks.
Because despite millennia of being told he's evil, he's still a sweetie with a heart of gold.
Because he has a vast imagination and enormous will power. He's creative and adores human inventions, taking precious care of his Bentley for over 90 years.
Because he is so fiercely loyal and protective, not just of Azi, but of humans.
Because he's lived such a long, difficult life and he still finds so much joy in the every day, he's still an optimist.
Because he has endured immense abandonment and suffering, loss of identity, cruelty and fear - and despite it all, he's still kind.
Because he's immensely intelligent and wise and light-hearted and good.
Because even though he wouldn't believe it, he is so worthy of a happy ending.
There is such a special place in my heart for Crowley.
