Welcome to the Sanders Sides Big Bang!
The Big Bang is a challenge that encourages writers to create long stories within a certain time frame and artists to create works to pair with those stories. Basically, the fandom gets a lot of long stories and awesome art all at the same time! Every writer gets fanart, every artist gets inspiration, and everyone gets to enjoy the final product.
The Big Bang runs from February to August every year. Here's the FAQ (mobile friendly link here), and the schedule (mobile friendly).

Expected Rating: Mature
Warnings: Fantasy violence
Characters: Virgil, Roman, Remus, Janus, Logan, Patton, Emile Picani, Shorts Month characters, the Dragon Witch
Romantic relationships: Prinxiety, Dukeceit, Logicality, Remile
Summary: Roman has always been sure he is meant for more than the tiny town of Walton – adventure, glory, heroism. The rest of Walton seems to think he’s got his head in the clouds, and will never amount to more than what he already is – a simple boy who works in the general store.
He’s fallen for the lovely Emile Picani, who, unbeknownst to him, does not return his feeling in the slightest – but who is entirely too nice for his own good, and doesn’t know how to turn him down without hurting his feelings. In his attempt to let Roman down gently, he asks for a fallen star, thinking Roman would never be foolish enough to cross the border wall into the realm of magic to retrieve it. Right?
Wrong.
The magical realm is full of strange creatures, and unfortunately for Roman, the star – who has a name, thank you, it’s Virgil – is not at all interested in being a gift. But between Vikings who roam the sky, Dragon Witches seeking to take Virgil for their own to eat the star’s heart for youth and beauty, and a cadre of royal heirs after the topaz necklace that knocked Virgil out of the sky in the first place, the odds of getting through alive, let alone back to Walton with a chained star in tow are not high.
Because we need a Prinxiety Stardust AU in the world.

Expected Rating: Teen
Warnings: Bullying, peer pressure, toxic friendship (they all love each other just bad at communication), panic attacks, self degrading thoughts, nightmares, swords, swearing, Remus being himself, manipulation courtesy of Janus, lying, black and white morality, fighting and yelling, divorced parents, strict parents, not being listened to, monsters and gore.
Characters: Janus, Remus, Virgil, Roman, Logan, Patton
Romantic relationships: Intrulogical maybe and moceit maybe, still not sure
Summary: Remus- loud, crude, doesn't know the definition of tact. Janus- smart, cunning, manipulative and a complete control freak. Virgil- anxious, an overthinker, highly insecure and has an overwhelming fear of abondenment.
What do these three have in common? An overwhelming fear of change and the unknown.
So what will they do when they, quite literally, are sucked into facing it?
An Amphibia AU for those familiar with the show.

Expected Rating: Potentially Mature
Warnings: Potential M rating, swearing, innuendo (oh, hello there, Remus), implied sexual content, non-graphic violence, genre switching, mental health and medication, alcohol, gaslighting, shifting realities, peril. No major archive warnings would apply.
Characters: Logan, Remus, Roman, Patton, Janus, kid!Virgil, other OCs as needed. No unsympathetic/villain Sides.
Romantic relationships: Intrulogical and sometimes romantic/sometimes platonic Moraliceit (Patton/Roman/Janus) with familial kid!Virgil
Summary: Dawn was ablaze in red and orange, the sun nearly visible through the vidscreen’s haze. Lingering over dreams and tea, Remus and Logan enjoyed a typical morning before jetting off on a second-hand electrobike to the Physics Theory Unit at CERN.
At 0530 the next day, the President and First Gentleman’s agenda began with their scheduled morning run down an undisclosed trail, surrounded by Secret Service agents. After a calendar packed with position papers, negotiations, and a red-faced Secretary of State insistent on war, Logan managed to tear Remus away for dinner with his brother and his family.
Morning the following day was terrifically dreadful, with damp wind howling over the moor, the chill stabbing through cracks and crevices with long, icy fingers. Extricating himself from Logan’s warm embrace was torturous, but his love’s little shiver finally spurred him to action and Remus stoked the fire before clambering back to bed.
Day after day, Remus and Logan led uneventful lives. They woke in each other’s arms, worked, created… Evenings usually brought dinner with Roman, his partners, and their child. Until one day, a strange encounter at Aldi’s left Logan quiet and withdrawn.
The next morning, Remus woke to empty arms and a family who’d never heard Logan’s name.

Expected Rating: Mature
Warnings: Sexually suggestive language, swearing, innuendo, graphic descriptions of violence, descriptions of injury and crude humour.
Characters: Remus, Janus, Logan, Virgil, Roman and Patton, plus the characters the sides will play in a role playing game.
Romantic Relationships: None, but some mild flirting from Remus towards Virgil, Janus, Logan and Patton.
Summary: Upset at not getting to join in with his brother's latest project, Remus decides he will run his own game of some table-top dungeons and dragons inspired role play for the Sides.
What follows is a role play adventure with more bickering between the characters than actually fighting enemies, intricate plans that fall parts within moments of being put into action, terribly named taverns, arguing over dice rolls, 'friendly fire'... balls, bending of the rules till they nearly break and for some reason a grey donkey dragged along for the ride.
Patton plays a female half orc barbarian named Petunia, festooned in ribbons and who doesn't like to fight.
Virgil plays a halfling bard, who steps up to the leadership role when no-one else will. His instrument is a jaw harp.
Logan plays Leonard, a wood elf rogue with a long bow and daggers and knack for pickpocketing.
Janus plays Jeremy, a female human cleric with a pickpocketing habit from anyone she heals.
Roman eventually plays Randy the tiefling wizard, who excels at throwing fireballs into combat and trying to head the charge despite having next to no armour!
Character descriptions are flexible and can be changed to allow for more freedom when drawing.

Expected Rating: Teen
Warnings: organized crime, explosions/explosives, mentions of human trafficking
Characters: Virgil, Logan, Remus, Remy, Roman, Janus, Emile (and Patton? Idk I haven't really found a place for him in the narrative that I like)
Romantic Relationships: Romantic Prinxiety, Platonic Analogical
Summary: Virgil swore off his secret life as the vigilante Night Terror the day he was accepted into Queen City University. But between the cute lead actor in the play he's working on and a new villain in the rise, can he keep the delicate balance between his academic and crimefighting careers?

Expected Rating: Teen/General
Warnings: Pranks/general trickery, divorce and custody arrangements, alcohol mentions, smoking mentions, eventual reconciliation/happy ending
Characters: Roman, Remus, Janus, Patton, Logan, Virgil, Emile, Sleep/Remy, Male and Female OCs (most are relatively minor)
Romantic Relationships: Janus/Patton, Logan/Virgil, brief Patton/Male OC
Summary: “So,” Remus says slowly. “If your Dad is my Dad…”
“...and your Pa is my Papa…”
Remus stares at the seam of the wedding photo, made whole again after more than a decade. His Pa, Patton, familiar with his cowboy-handsome, weather-beaten face and his dimpled grin and his big, calloused hand resting over his new husband’s, even if Remus has never seen him look this smitten ever. “And we’re both born on October 11… then, Roman. You and I are… like… brothers.”
And his Dad—Janus—smiling coyly, handsome in the way of magazine models, so completely a stranger to Remus with just this scrap of a photograph to serve as any way to know him, really know him. The way Roman knows him. The way Remus has been dying to know him all his life.
“Remus,” Roman breathes out, disbelieving. “We aren’t just brothers. We’re twins.”
Remus wonders, in a daze, if seeing the opposite life he could have had is as strange for Roman as it is for him… if they’d just been switched at birth, it’s the life Remus could have had, knowing his Dad instead of his Pa, but then…
But then it clicks.
“Roman,” he says, turning to grin at his brother—his brother! “I have a completely perfect, totally awesome idea!”
(or: it's a parent trap au.)

Expected Rating: Mature
Warnings: Major Character Death (not permanent), Graphic Descriptions of Violence, possible slight fantasy racism, possible referenced or discussed child abuse
Characters: Logan, Roman, Virgil, and Patton are the main characters, Janus, Remus, Thomas, Remy, and Emile will appear as side characters as well as possible other Cartoon Therapy characters
Romantic Relationships: LAMP, possible mentioned Janus/Remus and Remy/Emile
Summary: Roman and Virgil are childhood friends who are now in college. Ever since their 20th birthdays they've had strange dreams about men who feel familiar but they've never seen in their lives, not to mention that two of them are faries which is preposterous, right? Turns out Roman is a changeling, and the prince who was kidnapped 20 years ago! Now, with their new friends Patton, a cat-sith, and Logan, a human raised in faery, they have to navigate the supernatural come to life! However, someone is trying to reignite the war between humans and faries for their own gain. Roman, Virgil, Logan, and Patton have to put an end to the war, while trying to sort out what their dreams mean and sort out their feelings for each other!

Expected Rating: Teen
Warnings: Body dysmorphia, thalassophobia, panic attacks, nonconsensual touching (not sexual), potential flashbacks of child abuse (not sure yet), racism, xenophobia, ableism, morally gray Patton, and bullying.
Characters: roman, logan, virgil, remus, janus, patton.
Romantic Relationships: roman x janus, (potentially) logan x virgil
Summary: Summer is finally here. Gentle breezes, vibrant flowers, and faces slathered in sunscreen; it’s a time of nostalgia and possibility. When Roman wins a lottery that grants him and four friends a beach vacation at a luxury resort for the entire summer, he knows that it’s going to be the perfect way to end this chapter of his life with a bang. After all, once the countdown to August 15 hits zero, his friend group of nine years will split off to achieve their goals and grow into their adult selves.
But of course, things don’t always go as planned. In the face of insecurity, fear, and eventually, a person who stops at nothing to drive a wedge between these friends, Roman, Janus, Logan, Remus, and Virgil find comfort and safety in each other when it matters most.
all five of the sides in the friend group are people of color, so if an artist wants to draw for the story, they must be willing to accept gentle and kind criticism when it comes to drawing poc. logan is puerto-rican, the twins are filipino, janus is japanese, and virgil is jamaican. also, logan, virgil, and janus have bigger bodies, so same applies with the gentle and kind criticism. i promise i will be gentle and kind! i just want the representation to be accurate and respectful, and i’m sure you do too!

Expected Rating: Teen
Warnings: No Archive Warnings, but Body Horror, Panic Attacks, and Religious Trauma are definitely making some appearances.
Characters: Virgil, Logan, Roman, Remus, Janus, Patton, Orange Side
Romantic Relationships: none
Summary: The following tapes and documents are not to be believed. We here at Magnum Laboratories encourage you to use your critical thinking skills and-
-(/(.(-;/?:)/((-?:-
I̶ ̴g̶e̷t̴ ̶i̴t̷.̶ ̶I̵ ̴w̵o̶u̵l̷d̵n̶’̷t̸ ̸b̵e̵l̸i̴e̴v̷e̴ ̶t̵h̵i̶s̴ ̸e̷i̵t̴h̵e̷r̷ ̵i̶f̶ ̵i̴t̶ ̷d̵i̷d̷n̶’̸t̶ ̶h̴a̵p̸p̵e̷n̴ ̸t̴o̷ ̸m̵e̷.̷ ̷J̷u̴s̴t̸-̴ ̷l̵i̸s̴t̵e̵n̵,̴ ̸y̵e̸a̷h̵?̸ ————————
Virgil isn’t human- never has been, never will be. Electricity runs through his veins instead of blood, wires instead of nerves. He’s surprisingly fine with this, all things considered. He doesn’t get any doctor bills this way. When his short-term memory chip gets corrupted, his roommate Logan suggests they record some memos to keep him up to speed. What Virgil wasn’t expecting was for them to become his lifeline.
A horrible attack leads to Logan disappearing and Virgil stuck with only a tape recorder for company. He searches for Logan, uncovering that his friend might not have been entirely honest with him. As he tugs on the strings of the web of lies, he finds it more tangled with people than he realized- a psychic, a telepath, a superhero, and a completely normal human- who somehow manages to be the weirdest of the bunch- all are wrapped up in the mystery.
It’s only a matter of time before they find out if their secrets are strong enough to tear them apart.
It’s formatted kind of similar to a podcast transcription, while also having documents such as blog posts and text messages. Basically a story told entirely through found media

Expected Rating: Teen
Warnings: Rated teen for swearing, fantasy violence, and major character almost death.
Characters: Roman, Virgil, Patton, Logan, Remus, Janus, orange side
Romantic Relationships: Roman/Virgil
Summary: The narrator controls the story. That's how it's always been according to the many history books in Roman's kingdom. Just like his family before him, he has to go on his own quest for his happily ever after. Roman's story goes something like once upon a time, a prince saves a princess then gets married. Prince Roman decides this is absolutely ridiculous. He goes on a journey with his personal knight and meets some other people along the way. A witch, two thieves, and a dragon tamer. This quest does end with a happily ever after, but it turns out happily ever after isn't all what it seems to be.

Expected Rating: Mature
Warnings: violence, politics
Characters: Roman, Remus, Virgil, Janus, Logan, Patton, Remy, Andy, Emile Picani, orange side (sort of) so many OCS.
Romantic Relationships: Roman/Logan/Virgil, Remus/Logan/Janus, and couple combinations of the triads, OC/OC
Summary: As Roman’s coronation approaches, he’s doing his best to learn how to properly be a king; politics, diplomacy, and a surprising amount of organizational skills. A state college education did not prepare him for the kingdom now in his hands. It leaves so little time for his personal relationships. At least catching up with Remus means his twin can give him advice on the kingdom. But he can’t help but wonder if Logan and Virgil would really be happy if they gave up their own lives to stay with him instead. Moreover, does he have the right to ask them to?
The M+ is more for violence and language than sexual content.

Expected Rating: Mature
Warnings: Depression, child abuse, trauma, disassociation, death, violence, disturbing imagery, fantasy discrimination, guilt, child neglect.
Characters: Logan Sanders, Remus Sanders, Roman Sanders, Patton Sanders, Virgil Sanders, Janus Sanders.
Romantic Relationships: none
Summary: Summary: Logan’s family is unique. They live far away from the safe borders of the local kingdom, aware that they would never be welcomed there. Janus, Virgil, Patton, and the twins had no choice but to live as outcasts. Each of them had been unfairly banished from civilization due to their enchantment, an underserved punishment, as they had only been collateral damage in the war against those who wield magic. The outlawed witches retaliated against unjust laws, but often times, children were caught in the crossfire. It was the story of their family, for all of them had been unfairly cursed.
All of them, but Logan.
Their family consisted of a scaled superhuman, an arachnid-man hybrid, a werewolf, two winged twins with unnatural abilities, and the peculiar Logan.
As they come upon the 10-year anniversary of Logan’s adoption into the family, Janus begins to worry. He has his hands full caring for their strange family of 6, but he grows distraught as his 19 year old Logan continues to pull away. He hopes the answer to the problem is simple, but deep down, he knows Logan is anything but.
Logan has a past, a bitter story, and dangerous secrets that he keeps close to his chest. Will he finally dare to share those?

Expected Rating: Teen
Warnings: Violence, murder (of both people and undead), panic attacks, guns, major character injury, torture, sex jokes(typical remus), kidnapping, cussing.
Characters: Logan, Virgil, Remus, Janus, Patton, Roman, Remy, Emile, non-important OCs
Romantic Relationships: Logan/Virgil, Janus/Remus, Roman/Patton, Remy/Emile, possible endgame LAMP
Summary: It's been ten years since the outbreak. Logan Croft never expected the science fiction of a zombie apocalypse to ever become a reality, but he was living through it. He’s been searching for some place to call home, some place where he could find genuine human connection again.
When he rediscovers a childhood friend in the middle of the end of the world, his new normal is changed. Logan’s search for a sanctuary gains a new component, a friend to search with.
Their group continues to grow more complex as they find more people from each of their pasts. Logan doesn’t know how he feels about all the new individuals in his life, and all of the trouble they can cause. He should’ve known more people would bring more conflict. Human interaction is so gross.
But, then again, Logan hasn’t been around people for this amount of time since the beginning of the outbreak. He finds he likes it more than he remembered. He wonders if, maybe, they could become a new home in his ever-changing world.
(Or a zombie-apocalypse au in which Logan finds his family)

Expected Rating: Teen
Warnings: Implied sexual content, smoking, drug (abuse) mention, suicide, dissociation/depersonalization, depressive thoughts.
Characters: Logan, Virgil, Remus, Roman, Janus, Patton
Romantic Relationships: Potentially Intrulogical
Summary: Librarian.
Your purpose is here, in the Library. Your task is to organize the books of earthly lives, in accordance with the Library. You archive and nurture and read, with no morals or judgment or belief. You exist in a separate, neutral, eternal realm - worldly, human matters do not concern you.
Because you are not worldly. Because you are not human.
You are the Librarian.
An anomaly has appeared in the Library. Disrupting the peace, tainting the books, enticing disloyalty.
Logan, don’t listen. Don’t question your purpose. Don’t open the door.
…There’s a reason you have no life outside the Library.

Expected Rating: Teen
Warnings: Temporary Character Death, Piracy, minor violence
Characters: Remus, Patton, Logan, Janus, Virgil, and others I haven't settled on yet for Remus' crew, OC(s)
Romantic Relationships: Intrulogical (more pre-romantic but definitely with heavy flirting and pining)
Summary: As the son of a sailor, Remus had grown up loving the ocean, so ending up becoming the captain of a pirate crew suited him just fine. And while he greatly enjoyed his life, there were some things he still wanted to achieve more than anything:
1. Meet a siren (very plausible, they’re all over the ocean)
2. Find an Elemental Spirit (not as easy, they famously dislike humans)
3. Figure out if Immortals truly exist (very hard, since supposedly they’re humans that have earned the favor of an Elemental Spirit (refer back to point 2))
But for now, he had to find a save hiding place for a little something he stole of another ship a few days back, so he had his crew sail towards the next uninhabited island.
What he doesn’t know is that what he finds there will help him finish up his bucket list earlier than expected and lead to the adventure of his life.
Outline is done but still subject to change.
