"Ember?" Logan racks his brain, trying to remember who that was. "I don't remember you having a friend with that name?"
(It's nice to see you back!)
Patton ducks into the forest, clutching the small loaf of bread to his chest. The boy was rather young, yet starving, and had to resort to stealing to get food. He'd thankfully outrun the guards, but he soon finds himself lost as he wanders around for a safe place to hide from the supposedly scary witches living out here.
Virgil had always been told to stay away from the edge of the forest, but that's where all the flowers grew. And, how was the young witch supposed to practice his potion brewing without the right ingredients? So, here he is. On the edge of the forest. Just beyond the trees, he can see smoke billowing from the village and he shivers. The village is one place Virgil would never go. He spots a patch of the flowers he's looking for and bends down to pluck a few when the breaking of twigs alarms him. Virgil snaps his head around and his purple eyes, a telltale sign of a witch, land on a human boy. He is absolutely frozen with fear.

Virgil is able to follow along much easier now that he can move more freely. He copies Remus movements, but, when he thinks about using them on a real person, he falters. He knows he's supposed to be learning to protect himself, but he still doesn't want to hurt anyone.
When Virgil almost got mugged four weeks ago, he thought the bite he received on his arm was the weirdest it would get. The bite healed quickly, but he's been exhausted and achy all month, only wanting to curl up in a pile of blankets and sleep. He's also been nauseous, because everything smells so intense. And the weirdest thing, given he's a vegetarian, is his cravings for meat. Raw meat, specifically.
The cravings have gotten unbearably intense and he finally caves. The sun is just about to set as Virgil grabs his keys and heads out to walk to the grocery store, intending to pick up some sushi.

Roman had just gotten off of work and was picking up some smacks from the grocery store when he smelles the magic in the air. He looked around cautiously, hoping it wasnt a trap. But it didnt seem to be. He follows his nose, looking for the source through the store.

"I would appreciate it if you stopped speaking in circles." Logan sits up straighter. "Where were you and who were you with? A straight answer." His concern shows beneath his stern look.

"Language," Logan scolds. "Running off with someone without telling your parents is one thing, but if you brother couldn't get to you in case something happened is entirely different. Where were you yesterday?" Logan isn't asking anymore.

He is even more confused now. "What do you mean, 'even if he couldn't get there'? Get where?" Logan sits up straighter. "Where were you?" his dad voice is back.

Logan thinks for a moment. "I probably would have been upset if you'd asked," he finally admits. "Because, without you leaving and saying anything, I wouldn't have realized I care more about your safety than I do your studies."

Logan tilts his head at the wording, but doesn't press the issue. "Well, next time you want to stay over with your friend, please let me know. I was worried."

Virgil takes about five minutes to find a binder that's loose enough to work out in, but still provides decent compression. He takes a couple deep breaths; he's definitely had his own binder for too long and it's just a touch too tight now, but he can't really afford to replace it. He heads back to Remus.
