A Little Gaming Never Hurt Anyone.
Estharian technology was always ahead of most places, setting the isolated city of Esthar apart from any other place. Other than the isolation, of course. If it weren’t hover cars or electronic stores dispensers, it was spacecrafts and topnotch airports. Unlike the cities and towns everywhere else, Esthar’s look itself was more out of a future sci-fi flick, that on occasions, Selphie loved to splurge in.  That happened to be one of the reasons the perky brunette loved to visit the place; besides getting to see Laguna and getting to test out whatever new technology was invented. It was just something she signed up for to pass the time when there weren’t any real field missions to go on, and which Laguna appreciated her enthusiasm and willingness to help. Though that wasn’t the only reason. Selphie offered news about Squall to him whenever she visited. Being the president and her commander weren’t exactly on friendly speaking terms. Unless an assignment or something came up. The young commander just wasn’t ready to put himself out there for a father he didn’t know he had until some time ago. Mind, it had already been about a year since the sorceress fiasco and the news of Laguna being his pops. Today, though, her visit to Esthar was of a super special extra kind. Something that made made her body tingle with just the mere thought of it.  Gaming. She was allowed to bring a guest with her, someone she figured would love the experience. President Loire thought it was about time to make Esthar a little more known to the world, and branch out from being isolated from rest of the world; and what what better way to do that, than video games? He heard it was quite popular in other places and thought it would be good on a universal standing ground.  The testing site for the new game would be held in a smaller room in Dr. Odine’s laboratory. First thing was first though; “Alriiiight!” Drops her duffle bag carelessly in the middle the floor, the moment she entered the room she and her companion would be staying in. Selphie stretched out any kinks the trip there gave her and turned to her friend.  “So we’re gonna be staying here in one of the in the presidential palace. If you’re not tired, let’s go see Laguna!” Excitement was obvious in her voice and the telltale sign that she had some sort of crush on this Laguna person.

A feeling of nostalgia hit her like a speeding train; the memories came flooding back the very moment she set eyes upon her old ruined garden. Trabia Garden was still recovering from the missile attack that happened a month ago, and the students and staff still hadn’t recovered from the loss of their friends and family. Family; what most of them were, though, not related by blood. It was no different for this young SeeD before she transferred. Unlike the other two gardens, Trabia was the smallest of the three, only having a little over hundred students and staff altogether. That was the case before the incident and the devastation the whole sorceress ordeal caused anyway. New applicants wouldn’t be taken until they were fully rebuilt or near completion. So all that remained worked together to fix up and rebuild what they could.  That was the reason Selphie was here. To help with her second home. “It’s gone.” Green eyes scanned the quad as she approached. Rumble still littered the ground everywhere, but the missile was missing. “How’d you guys remove it?” “Selphie!” a female around average height and black locks ran up to the SeeD, a smile on her face to see her old friend. “You mean the missile, right?” she turned to face the huge empty crater in the ground where the large hunk of metal destruction used to be. “Some people from Esthar actually came to pick it up a few weeks ago. It certainly wasn’t something we could move it ourselves.” “Esthar? Really?” Selphie sounded surprised at the name she heard. Esthar wasn’t exactly known to interfere in outside affairs and she would have thought they’d go back to being isolated. “Yeah! Who knew they’d come and help, right? And get this,” The cadet leaned down toward the brunette and began to whisper, as if what she had to say was some sort of big secret.  “The president himself stopped by! He said he’d be sending in more help to get this place up and running, and will be funding the whole restoration.” She beamed. “Isn’t that wonderful? Not to mention he’s a super hottie.” (Whoa... Laguna himself dropped by? That’s big news. I wonder if Squall knows of this?) “Yeah... That sure is something...” Selphie murmured underneath her breath. “Say, Tess...” Selphie began, referring to the girl she’d been talking to up until now. Her eyes looked around further before landing on the slightly taller female. “Is Headmaster Renton still around?” Tess nods.  “Mm-hm. Check the basketball court. Last I saw he was giving assignments.” “Thanks! Let’s meet up later!” Selphie smiled and waved as she started walking further into the Quad to get to the basketball court that lay beyond it.  Meeting with the headmaster, he should be able to tell her what needs the most attention and assign her a duty to help in to the reconstruction.
