✧ | “Haha, I wouldn’t be surprised.” Alm laughs at Robin’s response, not from him admitting that he can’t cast magic, but the fact that there’s another person who prefers to swing a blade, like himself. “If you asked me to create a fire, I wouldn’t use magic, but some flint and a torch instead.” Then again, there were a lot of people who also wielded swords too, everyone summoned in Askr was different, and they all hailed from various worlds. Not to say that there’s anything wrong with lots of people that prefer swords, it just makes him part of that group. However, it wasn’t just limited to people that wielded swords, let alone lances and other blades. There are others like Robin, so and mages that harness magic in their own way, and their own power too. “I can’t tell you how surprised Kliff was when he was handed one of those tomes,” He says, pointing to the spellbook that Robin was holding in her hands. “I guess when you’ve been using yourself as a source of power, it’d be surprising to hear that you can use books to cast magic too.”

✧ | “Er, I’m probably not the one you should ask about that, but I do know that it’s definitely cast differently than using a book.” He responds, scratching his cheek a little bit. Magic wasn’t really Alm’s forte, especially when he’s usually swinging with a sword, though he’s also good with a bow and arrow himself. Alm listens intently as Robin explains about how spells work in her realm, and he nods, doing his best to process how it’s meant to be done. “Energy levels, huh? Well, I can say for sure that I’m completely incapable of using magic,” He says. “As for that…I remember Kliff saying that it takes total concentration to use it, and it also requires your own energy to cast a spell, regardless if it’s for combat or healing.” Although Alm was told this, that doesn’t mean he’d be good at it. “I can understand having to focus completely, but I’m more of a sword swinging kind of guy, you know?”

       Figure he may have an idea, but ultimately not, huh? Simply have to locate someone who knew then; talk to them about it! “Oh, I do apologize. I just got curious as I have never heard of any other means to cast spells than with tomes. It is a fascinating ideal.” A wave of a hand back and forth to disregard. She already knew not everyone held the ability to control and master spell casting. Him being one such person. No harm. A nod of her head as hand lowers. “Indeed. Without the ability to concentrate and flow energy levels from yourself into the spell, it could be catastrophic on your body, or someone else. The tomes are similar to a median, between your body and the words to the spell. It has a beauty to it as well as harmful. Energy cannot manifest itself magically in the air, even for spells being magic. It comes from somewhere, and that’s a part of your soul. Repeating the words of each spell collects an emotion that pushes out the potential energy within into kinetic energy through their air and magnetic fields, depending on the spell. So, I am very curious of what the median is in your realm.” A laugh offered to him by his words. “Oh, I understand that completely, trust me. I know someone else who’s a sword swinger, very similar to you actually. Spells are not for everyone.”

✧ | “Yeah, I got the gist of it when I heard about you being summoned here yourself.” Strange, to be summoned from your own world, and to meet other heroes and warriors from various realms, all with different tales to tell, and backgrounds as well. It mattered not if they were blueblood or commoner, they were all gathered here to help the Order of Heroes. Emerald eyes blink upon a gloved hand touching his arm, but he smiles at the dragon princess in return. It was a little strange, but oddly enough, it felt calming.

Ah, his friends in Ram. Now that is something he can definitely talk about. “Heh, they’re all doing well. If I have to say, they’re glad that Kliff finally made his way here. I was starting to think that he’d be confused, wondering why I, let alone the others haven’t returned yet. But you’re right on the money about something happening when we were all young.” Or rather, two things happened upon his time growing up in Ram. “...It’s kind of a long story, but I don’t mind hearing about yours.”

Alm

✧ | “That’s very true.” He agreed, nodding as he listens to the royal speak. As Kamui inquired about Alm himself having someone that would be considered family, he takes a moment to pause, before answering her question. “Even though I am of Rigelian blood, I was raised in Zofia, in Ram Village. I had many friends there, and Sir Mycen, whom was known as ‘Zofia’s greatest hero,’ I referred to him as ‘Grandfather’.” Alm answers, emerald eyes looking a bit downcast, before back at the princess. “And I had a father and cousin, too…”

Ah, so they are more similar than she thought, in a sense. Raised in another kingdom than where they were born. Having family where you didn’t think you had any at all. It’s confounding, but that’s a story for another day. She can’t help the small heartache that comes at that thought, and hides it. “I understand where you are coming from. I was in a similar situation. Born in one, but raised in another.” A hand reaches out, resting on his left arm. He’s probably heard much of it, considering all eight of her siblings are here. 

A comforting grip is given for a moment, letting her hand rest back to her side. She keeps a soft smile on her face. “How were your friends in Ram? I have met Kliff, but I am not sure about the others. I heard, but for a moment, of some happenings that occurred when you all were younger. I am willing to share some of my stories as well.”

Tell me, how does it work?”

       “They don’t? How may magic be cast then?” Statement fascinating Robin way more than idea of meeting every Heroes from realms and worlds of past, present, and future. Learning of other customs and ways of battle a pique to her interest of knowledge. Tome in her grasp a customary to her repertoire. How may someone cast spells without such? Admitting, she knows the spells well enough for not necessary reading. “It cannot work for you if you are incapable of casting spells, but the use of the tome is quite simply yet highly complex all the same. Many a words and phrases line these pages. A matter of wit and prowess of the mind to control the energy released from your body. Just reading the words isn’t enough if you cannot control your energy levels.”

Haha. ” Alm comments, and although he’s smiling at the dragon princess, there’s a slight hint of sadness in his eyes. “It’s quite nice, having a familial bond.”

Laughter came from the princess. As much as she loved all her siblings, she felt as if it was them who were inseparable from her. “You are too kind, Alm.” She doesn’t wish to ramble about them to him. “That is true. Family is there to keep you safe. There are some members of my family that are my friends, too! Like my retainers and my allies!” Would that help his sadness. Unfortunately for him, she noticed, but wishes not to bring it up. “Is there anyone whom you would call family? If it is all right to ask, that is.”
