Which do you like watching most: sunrises or sunsets? • • Both are important cues for the body to carry out biological functions and regulate things like hormones, appetite, and sleep. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSm5XAkL8rN/?utm_medium=tumblr

When it comes to choosing the right glasses, the first question we need to look at is what you're looking to alleviate. • Our daytime glasses are called Daylights, and they are available with clear or yellow lenses that block 40% and 75% of blue light, respectively. These daytime styles are designed to help: - reduce eye strain and fatigue - boost energy and mood support productivity, especially when you're sitting in front of screens for extended periods of time • If this sounds like something that addresses one of your pain points, then ask yourself: - do you need to see true colors on screens? - do you need to stay in uniform at work? - are you looking for the most functional styles or the most fashionable? • Within the Daylights collection, we also have "transition sunglasses". When these photochromic lenses are exposed to natural sunlight, they literally transition/darken and become fully functional sunglasses. • Our nighttime glasses are called Twilights, and they have distinct red lenses that block up to 100% of not just blue light, but also green and violet light. These glasses are specifically designed to signal to your body that it's dark outside, which prompts natural melatonin production so that you can fall asleep quickly and improve the quality of your rest. So, you would only wear Twilights 30-90 minutes before bedtime, or while traveling across time zones on a plane, for example. You would also NEVER wear these while driving since they are designed to make you sleepy. • If you are someone that tends to work later at night -- meaning that you want the flexibility of being able to see, read, write, and move around the house freely AND be able to fall asleep quickly once you're finished working, our Twilights "Sunset" lenses are your best option for evenings. They are gradient -- darker on top and lighter on the bottom -- so that you can see clearly at the angle looking downward while blocking out harmful light from overhead. • Together, TrueDark Daylights and Twilights are meant to help keep your circadian rhythm in sync over a 24-hour period. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSXgXV1LQQ-/?utm_medium=tumblr

Humans are diurnal, meaning that we are biologically programmed to follow distinct light/dark cycles. So when it comes to modern technology, especially digital devices, overexposure to artificial light becomes problematic for our natural circadian rhythms, hormones, sleep, and more. • • Pro Tips: be mindful of your light exposure, especially at nighttime when you’d otherwise be exposed to darkness if you were outside. If you tend to work later in the evening and/or need to be able to move around your home freely with the lights on past sunset, consider using sleep-hacking glasses (with red lenses) or circadian-friendly lighting solutions (like @truelight’s light bulbs, nightlights and flashlights). Taking more control over your lighting can help send proper signals to your mind and body — like when yo start producing melatonin, the key ingredient for better, deeper sleep. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSQL2FBsbW0/?utm_medium=tumblr

Is it okay to take melatonin pills or other sleep aids? The short answer is: melatonin pills are generally safe for short-term use, but sleep aids in general can have dangerous side effects. • • There’s a bit more to this story that is important to understand. Sleep problems are incredibly common; insomnia is the most common condition affecting up to 30% of adults in the US. Approximately 10 million people are estimated to take some type of sleep aid every month to help alleviate these sleep issues — spending upwards of $30 Billion dollar a year on prescription drug and OTC sleep remedies. • • Here’s the thing: sleep aids, including melatonin pills, are not the same thing as the melatonin hormone that your body produces naturally. According to sleep scientist, Matthew Walker, “Sleeping pills do not provide natural sleep, can damage health, and increase the risk of life-threatening diseases”. These are essentially forms of sedation that “knock you out” without yielding the same restorative sleep that you would otherwise experience during NREM (non-rapid eye movement) sleep. • • Potential side effects of sleep aids include: grogginess, slow reaction times, and worsened insomnia — especially if you become dependent on sleep aids to fall asleep. For stronger hypnotic sleep aids like ambien or other benzodiazepines, users may also experience sleep walking, reduced motor skills, and higher mortality rates. • • Rather than relying on sleep aids, it is ideal to focus on your daily routine: ⏰ wake up and go to sleep at the same time every day ☕️ limit your caffeine intake after 2pm so that your body has time to fully digest ☀️ get 20-30 mins (minimum) of sunlight every day 🤓 use blue light blocking glasses to mitigate the effects of too much screen time throughout the day and to help support your circadian rhythms 💡 limit your light exposure in the evenings and/or opt for circadian-friendly lighting options (like @truelight) to create a sleep sanctuary for your mind and body https://www.instagram.com/p/CRzhXulsk8o/?utm_medium=tumblr

Staring at screens all day long? If so, then you’re probably very familiar with that feeling of having tired eyes and sapped energy — and you’re not alone! • • TrueDark Daylights help prevent overexposure to intense blue wavelengths found in artificial light sources, as well as digital devices with LED screens. Our clear lenses block 40% of this “junk light” to help reduce digital eye strain while supporting your energy levels and productivity. • • Note that most clear lenses on the market — including prescription glasses — only block up to 30% of blue light. TrueDark clear lenses block the maximum possible before the lenses start turning more yellow. • • TrueDark Daylights with clear lenses are ideal for people who: - want to protect their eyes, mind, and body during the day - need to see true colors on screens (eg. graphic designers) - work in a profession where they need to stay in uniform and/or look professional https://www.instagram.com/p/CRkR_9MsLav/?utm_medium=tumblr

Weekend mood. 🏕☀️ | Pro-Tip: camping is one of the best things that you can do to recalibrate your circadian rhythms because your body is getting proper cues from natural sunlight and complete darkness. Distinct light/dark cycles are essential for signaling to your body when to start and stop certain hormones. If you’re having trouble sleeping or sticking to a schedule, now is the perfect time to plan a getaway trip to go camping in nature. https://www.instagram.com/p/CReiDQuM-XW/?utm_medium=tumblr
