World meet Viggo. Horse5 is finished. He's a Freisian stallion named Viggo. Chavant oil-based plastilene clay over a foil and wire armature, with 3D printed hoofs. I created a loose mane and a plaited mane, as I couldn't decide which one I wanted. I have a lot to learn about sculpting manes and tails!

My 100 Horse Project 🐎 is underway!
I intend to sculpt 100 horses at 1:9 scale (about 25cm tall) because I want to seriously up my sculpting skills and I adore horses. I want to explore lots of different sculpting mediums during the 100 sculpts. I haven't set a time limit and don't intend to, either. I love sculpting but I have to fit it in around other things, so giving myself a deadline would be an unecessary stress!

I've finally managed some progress on Horse#3.
I haven't named her yet but she'll need something feisty with that raised hind leg!
Chavant plastilene clay is very soft, so I may just bulk out the form with this, and then use the harder Chavant for detailing. If that's even possible!
Oh well, this project is meant to be a learning experience after all 🐎👩‍🎓

This is now Horse#3, for no reason except this was the armature I grabbed to start trying out Chavant clay. It's a soft oil-based plastiline clay that doesn't dry out. It's proving to be too soft for my purposes, but I have a grey block of Chavant too, which should be a bit harder. I'm taking the time to practice head sculpting, whilst listening to my favourite podcast, the Infinite Monkey Cage

My 100 Horse Project 🐎 is underway!
I intend to sculpt 100 horses at 1:9 scale (about 25cm tall) because I want to seriously up my sculpting skills and I adore horses. So far, I have sculpted 2 horses. Horse#1 is called Boudicca, Horse#2 is called Troy. Troy is the one with the longer mane and the ballbearing eyes.
Troy's back legs are wonky, so I'm not going to do any more detailing on him. On to Horses #3, #4, #5 & #6 instead. The wire and foil armatures are built, and they all have 3D printed hoofs. Initially I am using Monster Clay, which is not a permanent medium. I want to explore lots of different sculpting mediums during the 100 sculpts. I haven't set a time limit and don't intend to, either. I love sculpting and I don't care how long this project will take me.
