I am once again thinking about digging holes
Tumblr media
It's so fucked up that digging a bunch of holes works so well at reversing desertification
Tumblr media
I hate that so much discourse into fighting climate change is talking about bioenginerring a special kind of seaweed that removes microplastics or whatever other venture-capital-viable startup idea when we have known for forever about shit like digging crescent shaped holes to catch rainwater and turning barren land hospitable

Retail jobs have historically held significance as like a way for “housewives” to have a their own income and have a network that protects them from domestic abuse. Historically a safe place for lesbians/gay men. Also just a solid career if you lack an education. I think the story of the death of retail really misses these key elements of the function it had in everyday life and how now, financial freedom for housewives basically entails competing with a larger pool in the job market and dealing with similar sexism they would at home. Safe spaces for queer people now means like nefarious party circles filled w drugs…if you have no education now you just work in a factory where you’re not even building anything but you’re putting things in boxes. This new life for the American working class & the way fun is paywalled is just wholly depressing and I support any young personas financial irresponsibility because you’re not going to get your life back

Making > Consuming
The solution for the eternal child’s desperation is simply to do. Make art, write, clean without thinking, get off the phone [in a word create things and learn to sit with the mistakes, by doing this you accept death by dwelling in the world instead of dwelling in the postponement of fantasy (“i’ll do that when i grow up”)]. Consumption harkens back to life in the womb when everything was provided. We must assert to the subconscious that we are capable of existing in the world by doing things. It’s incredibly difficult, painful, and circuitous but I’m realizing that it’s the only way, because there is no parent who’s going to take care of me anymore.
