One thing I miss the most about living in Germany are the Christmas Markets. We have fairs and markets, but nothing like they do in Germany! Whole city centers are taken over for 4 weeks of Advent. There is bratwurst, games , best chocolate know to man, plays, gluhwein (which is a hot mulled wine) and of course tons of shopping. In school we would do a field trip to the markets every year...shopping the best field trip ever! The only thing I didn’t like were the Nutcrackers; those things give me the heebie jeebies to this day. We had them all over our house because my mother loved them. Nutcrackers are the reason I have never done Elf on a Shelf....no need to give my children the life long creeps.
