Fire Emblem: casually makes nintendo $400 million with one game, gets one (1) new character in Smash, who is a clone and doesn’t even have his own character icon depending on the settings

People: God, why do they keep putting in more of these Fire Emblem characters?? They should put in more characters from an actual successful franchise, like Star Fox!

Fire Emblem: Has 4 characters with varied movesets who are not only unique from one another but also offer distinct and unique playstyles from the rest of the characters in Smash, as well as a few clones and semi-clones because 1) melee nostalgia and 2)the franchise has a large cast of characters and clones are an easy way to make more fans happy without using too much development time

People: god, all these fire emblem sword characters play exactly the same!! They should have more varied characters…you know, like Star Fox! 

Video Game Makers: While cultural institutions like Mario and Zelda will likely endure the other series that are popular shift and change over time, some games you adored as a kid no longer have as much relevancy to culture outside of historical value, but we’re going to sate your nostalgia anyway because nostalgia is probably the easiest emotion to appeal to for money and give you the characters you’ve always dreamed of alongside those from the newer and currently popular franchises

People: 

tl;dr If you’re celebrating Ridley and K Rool and Simon Belmont, and Wolf returning, and are even cheering at Pichu and Young Link, that’s great and you’re allowed to do that (I’m certainly excited about a few of them) but just. Shut up about Chrom already. Please
