What was Optimus's job before the war? What was Megatron's?

Optimus was Sentinel Prime's secretary, but also owned a library where he archived all kinds of obscure texts. There he would hosts a reading club which would eventually bring together many important characters.

Megatron started off as a miner before eventually becoming a gladiator to climb up the social ladder and gain popularity.

Whats ur inspirations for the plot of this au?

I started developing this AU after the Netflix TF trilogy aired which was supposed to be for a mature audience. Aside from gore, there is nothing mature about it. With this AU I want to tackle heavy themes like politics (they're not at war for fun, duh) but also the question and purpose of existence.

I use TFA, TFP, Beast Machines and G1 as my references.

I haven't uploaded much yet so I don't want to spoiler everything up front.

Stumbled on this blog by happenstance but wow, I adore how alien the bot designs look! Like seriously I'm actually getting "Alien robot from outer space" vibes from your art, it's amazing! Sorry if you get this alot, but would you mind sharing any thoughts or inspo on your design process?

While designing the characters I pulled up their G1, TFA and TFP designs and compared them. What characteristics were present in all continuities? When I draw my first sketches, I try to capture that same essence.

The next thing I think about is the body shape. Similar to TFA, I strive to have expressive silhouettes that tell a lot about the characters just by looking at them. For example, for Mirage I went for something that looked like he was tip toeing around in a sneaky cape.

Some characters are purposely designed to look more alien and somewhat organic in comparison to other characters, who purposely resemble what a typical mecha to looks like.

It all boils down to keeping in mind that they are alien synthetic life forms. Their home planet provides a different environment: Lower gravity, no moisture. Especially because of the lower gravity, they can maintain forms that would be unthinkable for human built machines to have.

(And yes, if they don't calibrate according to a planet's gravitation and air density, and scan a new vehicle, they can be stumbling idiots. Right after landing on Earth, Starscream tried to use his Cybertronian jet mode and barely managed to do an ugly backflip in the air before crashing down.)

I just found this blog and I love everything about it, its great! You don't have to answer if you don't want to but in your list of characters, why are some names different colors?

The colors stand for what pronouns the characters are going to use when speaking English. Black>>he/him, very dark red>>she/her and dark yellow>>they/them.

Soundwave would be the only exception regarding pronouns. He straight up doesn’t use them. He will refer to everything by its name no matter how clunky that will sound in human language.
