I’m starting to block out the land mass for the new setting, since it doesn’t take place in Perim. This island is off the northern coast of a sister continent.

I’m still working it all out, but I like the idea of these mountains piercing into the heavens, acting as a religious cite and the capital city being aligned with it. Funny things happen when the moons align.

Have to start actually thinking up Clans to populate it.

Here’s a pass at a ‘beginning of the story’ Teramor.

One of the changes I wanted to make was that the Zeoran, the group of Creatures he ends up with, are kind of more like Mandalorians where it’s a Creed they live by, not actually a race. The working idea is that they have a huge pool in the village of different types of Creatures, but they’re pretty unified by their principles.

The blue is still from Nylthea. Eyes are permanent, but body marks are usually a lighter stain that comes off over time and needs to be reapplied, thus leaving room for other permanent roles, status, or other ensigns in the future.

Incredibly colorful, and interesting to see species from all over just vibing. However, all of them do not seem to know anything about the Tribes or their wars.

I’m basically redoing everything, so but so far I’m just starting off small.

What is transcending perim again?

It was my first ever fan fiction, as well as an AU I thought up during the show’s original run when I was a kid. I ended up finally trying to write it in late high-school. Since I’m older and I can hopefully write better, I wanted to take a crack at seeing if I can do something with it again.

The original premise is that Tom got stuck in Perim. He ends up as a Creature, and is trying to survive when he ends up being taken in. From there it was supposed to be a culture clash of learning a new way of life while utilizing his previous knowledge from being a Player, as well as not knowing how or if he should relay his past to people since even he doesn’t know how he ended up this way.

It was supposed to be revealed that the reason Chaotic was able to function was that they used the Cothica to power it. Players all had bits of it attached to themselves, but if you broke the parameters or there was glitch in the program, Perim would yank it back. You can’t steal a god from a world and not expect consequences. Tom just accidentally got pulled into Perim not because he’s important, but because there was an error in the code that gave an opportunity for something older than time to recognize it and take hold of a small opening. He’s a casualty in this precarious tug of war between two worlds that most don’t know is happening- and not even the first! This happened to all the CodeMasters, and the reason the Players can go back and forth is because they’re trying to figure out a way so that they can leave themselves. Players are beta testers for their own escape, Chaotic is just something they invented to have fun while being trapped.

There were a lot of bits of lore, cultures, and headcanon stuff I tried introducing, but looking back, I don’t think I did it well. I lost interest in writing the story because I accidentally wrote myself into a corner, and ended up not finding a satisfactory way out. There’s also a ton of things that didn’t quite make sense, so I want to better execute it. Lots of ideas need reshaping or complete overhaul.

A lot of those pieces I found fun were later spun into the AUs I have on here. It’s also where this blog gets its name.

I just want to have fun.

Cute little doodle for April Fools! I wish we got an episode where we went into Kirvac Mound, and came out a tunnel that followed an AU wherein the Kids swapped their favorite Tribes with one another.

I have some silly thoughts, but I thought this would be a fun little concept to share.

At this point I'm truly wondering what to do, really. (Glaze your art and so on, sure) But even the words we write, our personal thoughts, asks, everything is getting fed into these fucking machines from any site available. "Make your own page!" - Services like Squarespace, which are what I and most of my peers use, have sneakily added the option to allow third-party crawlers to harvest data. And portfolio websites are not social media. I want to interact and I have to reach clients.

Are we reaching the point where we have to post only previews and send finished art via Newsletters or post behind paywalls? Print it out and send a pigeon to our followers' homes?

I'm so fucking tired. So angry.

I've been an artist through life-threatening depression, through working and studying full time, through moving house and country, through the pandemic.

And this? This might just be what breaks me.

If I wanted to make free art for someone, I'd do it of my own volition; I'd come to you, not the other way around.

I understand this may disappoint some people, but there is a good reason for this.

I lost my job in April of 2023, and as the job market and access to transportation in my area sucks right now, I haven't been able to find employment since. Additionally, I've been dealing with various physical health problems that culminated in me having to go in for surgery this past summer. I count myself lucky that my family's willing to support me in spite of their own financial problems while trying to get back on my feet, but at the moment, my only income is through Ko-fi donations and commissions. I literally cannot afford to be doing free art right now.

That, and honestly, a lot of the people whom I've gotten unsolicited requests from don't seem to have any respect for me as a person or understanding for the amount of effort they're asking for. Like, I'm not naming names, but I've had people request me to illustrate entire comics and books before, and then ghost me as soon as I ask about compensation. Despite the username, I am not some faceless art-spewing machine that you can just throw a prompt at and get free art out of it, I'm a person with bills to pay and some semblance of self respect.

If you want professional quality work, my commissions are fairly cheap, and my Ko-fi requests even cheaper. The last commission I did was only $35, and I can do some pretty nice sketches for less than that.

And if you don't have money, make it yourself. Really, it's more fun and personally rewarding just making your own projects anyways.

I know you once headcanoned Tom taking ballet and kept taking it. So I wanna know, if there's going to be a ballet show produced by the ballet know how players for Creatures (possibly part of an annual Tribal Alliance celebration), what ballet shows would you think they could do? Especially if Tom starred in it. I was thinking of either Copelia, or the Nutcracker

You bet he’s in the Nutcracker, though for once he doesn’t brag about it. It’s the one thing he tries to keep separate from his ‘life’ in Chaotic because of the years of bullying. It’s hard for people to even see it’s him with the stage makeup used for shows.

If this was performed for Creatures? Oh yeah, they’d recognize him instantly because of how he moves more than anything. Maxxor would spot his boy a mile away, but be curious as to why he didn’t share or talk about this talent.

You know, sometimes it’s a good idea to redraw something you weren’t quite content with. The more I stared at my last depiction of my girlie, the more I disliked it.

So here’s round two! Talk about a glow-up! And as of yet, the tail is not canon, but I like how it fills the space in the piece so you know, I going to keep drawing her with one.
