♔┊ Napping in various wards wasn’t anything that was new to kamui, it was peaceful and he could get nightmares at home - or his new home, sometimes so he likes to go somewhere public since it seemed to ward off the nightmares, thought being in public allowed people to be loud and possibly bother him - not that he would get angry or mind ! a lot of the time it actually allowed him to talk to new people and he found that exciting ! It might not have been the safest thing … but he could defend himself.
♔┊ For now though, He heard someone talking rather loudly as he stirred awake, seeing someone playing with the netpups that often scurried around the park, he thought they were cute too so he smiled as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
Tumblr media
❛ They are called netpups ! ❜ He said coming over to the other, watching the excited, yet foreign like dogs to him, even if they were cute they were still foreign to him, nothing like this existed in his world  ❛ I’m not sure what their purpose is, but they are always running around this place … ❜
Chimera noticed someone had been sleeping only at this moment. They had been too busy looking at all the dogs.
“Oh, did I wake ya? Haha, sorry about that.“ Chimera knew they hated to be woken up themselves, so they at least wanted to say sorry. Though the other walked over to them so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem right?
“Hmm, well they have computer stuff on them so they might be able to be used for that, though most of them seem too much like dogs to really help! haha, still nice to pet.“ And that is what Chimera does, pet the strange dogs.
“Wonder if something keeps them in this area, most dogs like to run free right?“

It’s quite firm, and you’re a very weak person.
[Constitution Check: 7 + 3 = 10]
Your hand is a bit crushed, but nothing broken. Honestly, it just aches a bit after they’re done shaking it. You’re more concerned in the fact that you just shook hands with a demon.
No, they’re not a demon, they just said—
「Definitely a demon!」 You hear a voice off in the distance (and yet still very clearly in your head) and you start shaking again.
You nod as quickly as you can.
❝Fine! I’mfine!!❞ Your voice is an octave higher than usual.
Chimera smiles at them, pleased that the kid at least knows they aren’t a Demon. At least in nothing but some kind of nickname they had before.
Though when she starts to talk a bit too fast Chimera wonders if perhaps they should just leave them alone.
“Well uh, if you are sure?“ They give her another pat on the head anyway, just to see if that calms them again.
“I gotta go clean myself off, but if I see your bird again i’ll know not to grab it!“ As long as said bird doesn’t push their luck, hopefully they have learned a lesson.

“Twenty three?“ That young? Chimera almost couldn’t believe it. They picked Aysha right up and held her in the air.
“You are like a baby... so young!“ They give a chuckle, clearly amused with themselves and their joke.
“And I do think I should at least get you something! Anything you want, just say the word!“
tragelaphleopon replied to your post: “Hey! Aysha.” Chimera doesn’t know its her…
“Oh? Its your birthday?” Chimera squishes Aysha a little more, “Guess that means I should do something for you, though how old are you anyway?” Chimera didn’t normally ask ages but if Aysha knew it was her birthday then she would probably know her own age right?
“You don’t have to do anything for me, really!” Honestly, just seeing them was enough for her,  though she wouldn’t say that out loud. “I’m turning twenty three!”

You watch intently as the demon tries to come up with an answer. Depending on what it is, you’ll probably high-tail it out of there. You should know better when you have a demon friend already, but this demon is big and beefy and tried to kill your bird.
Wait… they’re not…?
A hand is extended and you stare down at it. It’s very large, just like the rest of them. They could probably crush you like a grape.
You take their hand in your own.
❝Chi… Chimera… nah… n, nice to…❞ You’re still shaking.
Chimera could crush her like a grape but there wouldn’t be any fun in that. So they wouldn’t, besides shes scared enough as it is.
Chimera gives the other a firm handshake, holding back so they don’t hurt the kid. Perhaps it was still a bit too firm but as long as she isn’t hurt its fine.
“Nice to meet you too! Really sorry for scaring you and holding your bird like that. Is it alright? Sometimes I don’t know my own strength.“ Even if the city had made them a bit weaker, it wouldn’t take too much to crush a bird.

Couldn’t feel it anymore? Gwyndolin’s hardly sure if that’s a relieving thing or a terrifying thing. It sends him to think about that fine line between sanity, remaining oneself, and… completely losing it. And this line was sometimes rather blurred, apparently. No, he’s quite good not experiencing it for himself.
“R-Really? Thou broke that many bones?” The god’s looking even more surprised. “I am glad thou'rt alright now – but it is impressive! I do hope thou kept the horn as a trophy.”
It wasn’t as if Chimera couldn’t feel any pain, it just took a lot more before they would feel it. So they could go even more out in their fights, though here in the city they would find pain is quicker to feel. Some may say Chimera is right in the middle of the blurred line however, losing themselves but able to come back mostly fine.
“Yeah! Don’t worry though they all healed after I died and came back a few hours later.“ Chimera thought it was a bit strange for someone to be glad they were alright, after all they would always be alright.
“Heh, I would have but it would have just returned to them when the recovered. Kinda just a thing that happens no matter what.“ Chimera knew even their own horns would return to them if someone broke them, even if they didn’t always have them.

⚙️ - As dull as her expression could be, she wasn’t entirely amused at being called. She was past being cute.
“I guess??. I haven’t paid attention to the power structures set up that isn’t a gang in the immediate area around my workshop and dwelling.”
Oh wow, the other’s face got really dull at that. Chimera wondered if they didn’t like being called cute or something.
“I see, thats nice to know then. Guess I should check out things for myself.“ Chimera was about to leave the other, though they decided to add “And if you have a lot of problems with those gangs, you could ask me to fight them for you, I always love a good fight after all.“

“Yes. It has uses, considering i feel cheaper than the people who own those city and know what I’m doing. … The name is Paprika.”
“Paprika huh, a pretty cute name!“ Or at least fun to say
“Hmm, i’ve never really been one of those science types, so I don’t know if I really understand. Besides the people who run the city are just like, those fake god types or something right?“

You frantically search for Churro, who is nowhere to be seen.
(He’s actually just out of sight, perched on the stone structure you’ve been resting your back on, but you don’t look in that direction.)
If this was any other situation encountering a demon, you’d already be trying to shoot frantically, or run away. But you don’t. Despite everything you’ve ever learned from the demon-fearing society you’ve lived your whole life in, you don’t run.
It’s because they pet you. They pet you and waited for you to stop crying.
You’re still scared, extremely so. But not enough to run. Instead, you just ask.
❝Are… Are you… ah… ahhh… duh… de… mon…?❞
Well, you tried.
“Uh Hm?“ Chimera make a noise as they try to think about what the other is asking them. They even tlit their head, one ear flicking as they think about what the other was asking.
“De, mon.... Demon?“ They repeated, as they made more sense of the question. “Me, a Demon? Nah, I mean i get called it sometimes but I wasn’t born as one. Don’t think i’ve fucked up my dna enough to become a Demon for real.“
“I’m Chimera,“ They said, offering their hand for the other to shake, “Sorry for spooking you, Your bird friend kinda riled me up since they decided to go to the bathroom right over me like an asshole.“ They huff after that, still unhappy about what that crow did. Seems like the Crow was hiding now though.

“Aha, well… I prefer not dying, yes. Mine apologies… ‘tis an unpleasant thing for most, including me. Though, a few from my world were like thee, strong of mind and able to endure anything.”
One death was enough for this god, unlike the unhollowed undead from Lothric that could take dying over and over. Gwyndolin isn’t sure how any of them managed it and then continued to get up and keep going…
No, it was quite traumatic.
“Still, I would not mind hearing about some of thy favorite battles. Perhaps a tale of a difficult foe that thou had managed to defeat anyway?”
“Hm, I guess it wasn’t the most fun thing but i’ve done it so much I don’t really feel anything anymore. I know some couldn’t take it and would leave as soon as they could.“ At least Chimera doesn’t talk about just how it works back home, since honestly fixing their own body back up can be downright horror depending on how bad it was.
Chimera can’t really understand right now how dying still hurt for others, and they probably would never understand it ever again.
“Ah! Yeah I got one of those, One fight was against one of my many rivals that liked to frame himself after an earth bull. So this dude is like huge even compared to me!“ Chimera is big to start with, and they even spread out their arms to try and show that this guy was really big. “So, most people thought he would crush me, and I mean they weren’t wrong I got like broke like half my bones broken. Still! I ended up staying alive longer than him, since I got some good hits in. Even broke one of his big horns, that was a big highlight in that fight. I can remember the crowd cheering so loudly when I did that.”

“Do let me know and if thou decidest so, I shall come support thee. But anyway, it is good to meet thee! To be honest, I do not leave my room that often… so company is nice.”
Gwyndolin has to wonder for a moment. It’s not that he liked fighting, but he was proud of his abilities. And it certainly felt good to secure a kill. There were many back in Lothric that lived and breathed combat, but he didn’t feel the same way. Yet, he’d never really considered that it could be a sport in a land of peace.
“My home was a place of struggle, so I too practiced combat often. I do not know if I would call it fun, but I am rather good at it. I prefer archery most of all!”
“Then i’ll tell you first if I do join! Only fair after all. I know about that leaving your room, sometimes you just wanna take a long nap yeah?“ Chimera had been well known for taking very... very long naps if they felt it.
“Oh? We could fight then, as long as you aren’t someone who is iffy about the dying thing. I’ve met a few who are like that and its strange...“ Not everyone comes from somewhere that they just come back to life a bit later, but Chimera would never fully get that.
“Never tried Archery though, I like to be close to who I fight.“

It takes time for the tears to completely dry out. The gentle touch to your head helps quicken the process. Eventually, your sobs slow to sniffles, and then mostly stop.
You take a deep breath before lifting your head. Your entire body relaxes, feeling lighter than you have since arriving… for years, even.
A moment of pause, and you feel good.
And then you lift your head and catch a glimpse of a very awkward demon person towering above you.
Tumblr media
You scoot backwards until your back hits something (you don’t particularly care what it is you’ve hit), covering your face once again. This time, it’s half out of fear and half out of embarrassment from breaking down in front of them.
Chimera isn’t at all used to calming down someone, much less a kid. They lived their life to fight and die over and over. Calming down by patting someone? It was so strange to them, but it seemed to be working.
Or maybe not, seeing as soon as the kid looked at them they seemed shocked again. Were they going to cry again? Did they ever know anyone who could cry this much?
“Uh, are you okay or are you just scared of me? I guess I can get the scared part, but its not like i’m gonna do anything.“ They didn’t like to fight people who couldn’t put up a good fight, and often they didn’t even fight people who didn’t want to fight. Depends on their mood really.

So it wasn’t an innate ability of Chimera’s kind, then? An achievement of technology or magic, maybe it was…
“Aha, well. I do apologize for the game of fifty question. ‘Twas simply a rather appealing subject to me.  I do possess a similar ability by use of a ring I wear, though it only changeth sexual characteristics. It is nice not being confined… Maybe our captors will grant thee use of some other 'mods’ eventually?”
Gwyndolin’s just relieved at the thought that they hadn’t taken the reversal ring away like his weapons. It seemed to only apply to powers and objects that had to do with combat usefulness, but that’s only a guess.
“A star fighter, though! Say, I just heard about a fighting Colosseum in the city recently, wilt thou be participating? I would come cheer for thee, if thou didst!”
Isn’t he forgetting something?
“…Oh, by the way, I am Dark Sun Gwyndolin, god of the moon.”
“Oh I can understand that, its good to be able to pick depending on what you feel.“ Chimera had long given up any real gender choice, but then had spent a long time deciding what they liked best body wise. Not that anyone needed to know. “Maybe, then I could change up a lot more about myself if I felt like it.”
“Hm? I’ll have to check it out and see if it fits me. Might be fun to just have as some side fights.“ Of course they would rather their fighting took place in the real life, nothing beats feeling real blood pumping after all.
“A God?“ Chimera seems almost annoyed by the other saying that word, as they do dislike “Gods” but Gwyndolin doesn’t seem like the ones they know. They will give them a chance. “Well, I’m Chimera!”

“More of a tinker, tailer, and blacksmith. And yeah it did…. Also I didn’t catch your name.”
⚙️ - She wasn’t surprised at the question at this point, given she was planning to head out to see what she could find.
“Blacksmith? Isn’t that pretty old thing to be?“ Chimera gives the other a confused look with that last question.
“Oh, I’m Chimera! Nice to meet you.“ They do at least answer the other’s question, though they expect a name of some kind back.

“That maketh sense, though unfortunate… But they still might be useful to look pretty… I imagine in a world of changing people, fashion was a very popular topic, no?”
Gwyndolin’s never thought too much of his looks personally, although it seemed certain people thought he was absolutely beautiful. He would fit right in in a world of ever changing immortals, wouldn’t he?
“I have yet to meet someone as old as me, though I do not know mine exact number either. Perhaps around fifteen thousand or so? More? There are, in fact, less immortals around than one would think. But do tell, if thou dost not mind: what didst thou do back in thy world to keep busy?”
“Its not only about fashion, its about feeling happy in your body and all! Thats what mods were made for after all, though they still gotta figure out how to make it better.“ Well at least Chimera gave up that the shape changing is something else rather than natural.
“Less around? My whole planet is immortals back home. Something about it just makes people live forever unless they like, leave.“
“What I do? Well i’m the star fighter in an area! haha, and I can tell you I put on a good show when I get in the limelight.“ Thats what they always cared about most, a good show before winning or losing.

“Hmm? The only real changes i know is the outer areas and the VR experience which messes with your head. Good places to go find scrap and mechanics to repair.”
⚙️ - Who even was this person? She shrugged it off.
“Really? I think those were here when I was here last. Guess this city doesn’t change that quickly.“ Did their own home change quickly? Not really so Chimera doesn’t seem that sad.
“Scrap though? You one of those fixer-upper types then?“

Churro flies over to you, happy to be out of that weird person-thing’s grasp. You slowly lower your hand, the necrotic damage flickering out of existence. This stranger is a demon, but they let your bird go.
[Charisma check: 5 + 4 = 9]
Now that you can feel Churro on you, all of your courage goes out the window. Your feet give out from under you and you just start sobbing. Churro’s trying to tell you something about how this big scary beast will eat you both but it doesn’t even matter anymore. You were just so scared, and you’re still so scared.
If you were calmer you may realize that this was an amalgamation of a lot of things you’ve been keeping in, but you’re not so you just keep crying into your hands.
“Ah...“ The kid just cries more and Chimera isn’t at all sure what to do. Do they like, pat the kid on the head? Or would touching them just send them into more tears.
“Hey, come on i’m not mad at your bird anymore?“ They have no clue that there is a whole lot more to these tears, but they can’t remember anyone reacting like this back at their home over a bird.
Chimera lets out a sigh before they pat Celes’s head, at least hoping it breaks the other out of their crying.

Nighttime was the time to be awake for sure, with the moon as the brightest light in the sky. Chimera wandered in all of the nightlife, feeling like for once they could just be part of the crowd rather than the star of it.
Though they did pause when they bumped into someone, or did they bump into them?
“Ah, Another kid...” At least they thought the other was a kid, they were at least younger looking.
