Basically, there will be more candidates applying for roles and clients will expect potential hires to be more inline with the job requirement than previous years. { Clients are looking for the POTENTIAL Candidate that is CURRENTLY doing this role's activities as opposed to POTENTIAL Candidates that can rev up and learn what they don't know while on the job in the first couple of months. But the opportunities are going to be there.

Well Tonight is the TechExec Christmas Party, with COVID.
We are not expecting the issues that came out of last year’s Christmas Party ( See above ).
Disclaimer from Last years Party:
No one was hurt ( permanently, burns have since healed )
No significant damage was done, and  every employee made it back home ( the last one arrived home the 27th of Dec 2019 )
For those that asked, yes we were able to get Ryan out of the dropped ceiling the next day,
 and
The Rhino was also found and delivered safely back to its handler the next afternoon.
Regardless, I wanted to wish you all a Happy Merry Holiday Season. If I am slightly off my game tomorrow morning please bear with me.
remember I am always a phone call away...

Do you TALK TOO MUCH in Interviews? ( read this and find out )
As a recruiter I have heard from Managers often.
“Good Candidate, but I couldn’t get a word in edge wise.”
This is the Kiss of Death for the Interview. There is no recovery, no redo. Even if you are the smartest person in the world, you have to be able to present your thoughts and opinions in a concise and brief manner.
Monologing ( talking too much ) is for SUPER VILLAINS - ONLY -
Tumblr media
SO WHY are you TELLING US THIS Tracey?
Interviewers are just a person like you at a different level of responsibility. Their attention tends to wane just like anyone else, so be prepared to communicate efficiently.  One’s average response should be less than a minute to ( max ) a minute and a half when an interviewer asks you any question.
Why?
The average listener can only give you about  90 seconds of attention.
Tumblr media
The average interviewer communication cycle:
As you begin speaking, the interviewer is listening with nearly full attention. (100% Attention )
After about 10 seconds, they begins listening with less intensity. ( 90% Attention - things might get confused if too long winded )
After 60 seconds, the interviewer’s mind begins to wander and they are devoting less than half his attention to you. ( 50% Attention - The interviewer starts asking questions about your response or begins formulating his next interview question. )
After you've been speaking for 90 seconds without interruption, the interviewer is barely listening at all. ( No Attention, now you are starting to annoy the interviewer. They are thinking statements like ‘LAND THAT PLANE ALREADY’ , “Can I even Get a word in Edgewise”,  OR “ Why does it take so long for this candidate to get to the point” )
People are skilled at nodding their heads and saying "hmmm" while looking at you, all in an effort to disguise their wandering minds.
The longer you speak without interruption, the less attention the LISTENER is giving you.
Tumblr media
So you might think that by providing long interview answers that build to an important conclusion you are presenting effectively, but often the interviewer is no longer listening.
Tumblr media
“The more you talk, the less you are listened to. Interviewers are of course looking to learn about you and get a sense of your personality. However, what they really want is someone who is succinct, articulate and pensive.
Tumblr media
But the Interviewer stopped Speaking:
The interviewer waiting longer than usual to respond after you’ve answered their question is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Sometimes the interviewer is simply taking notes, other times, he or she is seeing how you’ll fill the void.
Candidates infer silence as if they didn’t answer the question properly and will fill that space with more information, typically stuff that may hurt their chances.
Tumblr media
Not sure how to answer :
Rather than rushing to immediately begin your answer, take a few seconds to think about your answer before you begin to talk. If an answer still doesn't occur to you, then... ( a Pause before you speak isn’t seen as a bad trait by interviewers )
Tumblr media
Not clear on what the question is :
Sometimes you won’t know how to answer a question because you don't understand it. You'll be able to give your best answer when you understand the question. So, feel comfortable asking for a clarification, with a question like this "What do you mean by...?"
Don’t lose the role you love because you talked to much in your interview.
Have a great Holiday and if you need me I am an Inmail away.

Will your job be NEGATIVELY IMPACTED by AI, Analytics, and the Cloud?
Tracey Greene,
Technologist, Recruiter, Realist.
Hi All, man it has been a while since I last reached out to you. I am just done reading a great article in Fortune (by Jonathan Vanian) that speaks directly to that. You will be surprised how quickly we need to change our current skill sets.
Tumblr media
So what is the type of worker that will be replaced first when describing the impact of artificial intelligence on various professions by 2030. ?
( Cubicle workers. Shipping clerks. Loan processors for a start. )
Tumblr media
IF YOUR JOB includes a lot of repetitive, manual work that can be automated with machine-learning software your professional will be directly impacted ( notice any people at that Bridge Tolls or Check Outline at Home Depot anymore? )
Tumblr media
Per the Fortune Article, Forrester Research projects that 73% of all cubicle-related jobs—think clerical tasks like data entry—will be automated by 2030, equating to over 20 million jobs eliminated.
Tumblr media
Not to mention Location-based workers, which includes people who work as grocery store clerks, will also be severely impacted by A.I., Smith explained. About 38% of location-based jobs will be automated by 2030, eliminating about 29.9 million positions.
BUT I WILL JUST START LEARNING HOW TO PROGRAM, ok?
Tumblr media
And if you think that learning to code will give you an edge in the future, think again. New software developers are at risk, because
“Coding is going to be automated.”
Tumblr media
Forrester Research projects A.I. will wipe out 29% of all U.S. jobs while creating the equivalent of only 13%,
Now this is not to say that the standard trained coder will be out of work, they will be fine. But people looking to transition from a Job decimated by automation will not be successful for long in the coding world as a whole.
Tumblr media
Usually I write my blog for the Tech and Financial Markets but this article spoke to where our society is going. The Advances in Technology in Cloud, Analytics, AI, Virtual/Hyper Reality, and Quantum Computing will impact our lives deeper and quicker than past technologies like the Internet and Mobile Phones.  And we all know how those two technologies have made our local community now our global community that is literally at the touch of your fingers.
Should be an interesting ride seeing where our current and future technologies take us.
Oh HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL!

For those that aren’t in the Know SRE stands for Site Reliability Engineers and boy does TechExec have a lot of opportunity in this space.
Before I get into the opportunities - See the bottom of this post. Let me do what I always do and shed some light on what an SRE is... ( for my UBER GEEKY contacts - I Love Ya - please don’t nit pick... this is just a basic description )
Tumblr media
Per Joe Goldberg at SecurityBoulevard.com SREs are defined as:
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a practice that combines software development skills and IT operations into a single job function. Automation and continuous integration and delivery are used to reach the goal of improving highly dynamic systems. The concept originated with Google in the early 2000s and was documented in a book with the same name, Site Reliability Engineering (a must read). SRE shares many governing concepts with DevOps—both domains rely on a culture of sharing, metrics and automation. SRE can be thought of as an extreme implementation of DevOps. The role of the SRE is common in cloud first enterprises and gaining momentum in traditional IT teams. Part systems administrator, part second tier support and part developer, SREs require a personality that is by nature inquisitive, always acquiring new skills, asking questions, and solving problems by embracing new tools and automation.
Tumblr media
From that definition, you would think that all SREs have workstations like the above... ( WOULD BE SO COOL ). Anyway,
Joe Goldberg goes on to help the reader with:
SRE, An SRE contributes to a business by automating tasks with the aim to eliminate unnecessary work and roles and helping to reduce overall cost through optimizing resources and improving mean time to repair (MTTR). They live with the following 2 mottos:
Let us stop doing the machines’ work for them.
Let us stop feeding the machines with human blood.
Tumblr media
Lets go to one more source.... The only source seeing that Google created the role so they probably know a thing or two about SREs:
Google SRE
From the Google Site Reliability Engineering book, the key areas of SRE focus are:
Reliability—Maintaining a high level of network and application availability
Monitoring—Implementing performance metrics and establish benchmarks in order to monitor the systems.
Alerting—Readily identifying any issues and ensure that there is a closed loop support process in place to solve them.
Infrastructure—Understanding cloud and physical infrastructure scalability and limitations.
Application Engineering—Understanding all application requirements including testing and readiness needs.
Debugging—Understanding the systems, log files, code, use case and troubleshooting, so they can debug as needed.
Security—Understanding common security issues, as well a tracking and addressing vulnerabilities, to ensure the systems are properly secured.
Best Practices Documentation—Prescribing solutions, production support playbooks, etc.
Best Practice Training—Promoting and evangelizing SRE best practices through production readiness reviews, blameless postmortems, technical talks, and tooling.
Tumblr media
OK, your all caught up on what an SRE is .... Now Feast your eyes on the jobs ( boy do they pay ).
