It's me, your friendly insta-neighborhood artist maker person. I've been hibernating from social media because 1. I went really hard this summer with my business and I'm tired. Throwing myself into a million uncomfortable and new scenarios and asking for money all the time takes its toll. There's only so many ways I can say "please buy my stuff" without feeling like an obnoxious billboard. 2. Late summer is a hard time for me. I always forget it, but I have a tendency towards a strange reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder situation and late summer happens to be that time for me 🌴🤷. For me, depression manifests as apathy, lack of motivation, and an inability to see the positive outcomes of my decisions/actions. When every action I could take feels like it will inevitably end in the same result then any action becomes a struggle and paralysis sets in. Interestingly enough this shows up most in my creative life. Overall my mental health situation is pretty decent but since creativity is such a large part of my identity, then it's hard not to feel adrift during these times. . I trust that my creative juices will get flowing again. I've seen it before. But until then I'm going to take a break from social media until I have something that moves me to speak, draw, produce, and disseminate. In the meantime, empathy/advice is welcome. I'll be around to connect/commentt etc. and the store will remain open!
