seyeontm:
For a long time Seyeon hadn’t really thought much about their split. It’d been him who’d called things off anyway, it had felt like by that he had automatically given away any rights to feel particularly heartbroken about it. But he’d been curious all the same, about Seoji and whether she’d changed as much as he had. He’d heard it said that between eighteen and twenty-one people felt very differently and obviously, at the time he’d laughed it off.
In retrospect maybe that’d been a little arrogant of him. He didn’t feel like the boy who’d told Seoji we should break up, I don’t want to do this long distance thing and we should probably both just focus on what we want to do instead of worrying about keeping our relationship intact if it’s going to be like this anymore. Chances were Seoji didn’t feel like herself a that time either.
The nickname was warm in its familiarity and he smiled before he could overthink it. “It’s fine. Don’t worry about it,” he commented on her correction. “How come you’re this early? I–” I don’t remember you being this forgetful. The words got stuck in his mouth and he cleared his throat instead.
“Uh. Yeah. It’s kinda early.”
“huh.” she’d thought seyeon had drawn the boundaries clearly, between high school and college. between the two of them. maybe old habits die hard, even with new ones built up on top of them; his eyes aren’t as soft as they used to be, but the smile is the same when he responds to his nickname. “uh, sure. you can...” seoji thinks of cheesy, embarrassing pet names she’d thought the world of in high school, and cringes. “seoji’s good,” she says, laughing the childish sweetness off, now just a tart aftertaste.
but it isn’t sour, she finds, though it’s no longer sweet.
she makes a face at his comment. “i used to get the key from our manager, remember?” seoji was always the earliest, back in high school — she’d always been the first one to practice and last one out, and their captain had given up altogether and just let her have honorary custody over the gym key. almost a year is a long time to be together, but they’ve been apart for more than that now. maybe it’s natural to forget; she doesn’t remember everything they did, when she used to know the exact floorboard that would creak and give their stolen dates away in the high school gymnasium. “jaehee unnie won’t let me do that now...”
seoji looks around for something to do, maybe say something that’s not as painfully distant. “ha...” she kicks her foot a little petulantly. this wouldn’t be half as awkward if her puppy eyes had succeeded on jaehee, but sometimes that’s the way the cookie crumbles. she could do with something sweet right about now, though. glancing at seyeon, she figures it can’t get more awkward, anyway.
“wanna get breakfast?”
( she’s not sure if she’d prefer a yes or a no. )

looking for @tmyunseo !
it’s almost eight, and the custodian gently starts shooing errant students into the showers so they can start putting everything back in order. seoji is among one of them, and she obediently gathers her things to do a quick wash up so she doesn’t stink up the shuttle bus on her way back to the dorms. there isn’t much time left before the gym officially closes, but she gets through three bubblegum pop songs before she emerges from the showers, fresh and clean. she’s still humming along to more & more and towelling her hair off when she realises— her bag’s missing. or, more specifically, there’s a doppelganger bag in its place that looks almost like it but she just instinctively knows it isn’t hers.
“ajusshi!” seoji runs after the custodian, mystery bag in hand. “have you seen a bag that looks kinda like this, but not this? it had, uh,” why can’t she remember any identifying features of her own bag right now? “just! like this! but different,” she emphasises, then hits on something that’s different from her own bag— “it didn’t have this tag!”
the custodian frowns and shakes his head, “you’re the last one out... i didn’t see any other bags around, but look,” he flips the tag over, “you could contact the owner of this bag to ask?”
“oh!” seoji nods, quickly taking out her phone ( and thank god she brought her phone along to blast shower music, or she’d really be doomed ) to text the number:
💬 » [ YUNSEO 🎒 at 7:54pm ] hello! i’m seoji! 💬 » [ YUNSEO 🎒 at 7:54pm ] i think we accidentally swapped bags... :< 💬 » [ YUNSEO 🎒 at 7:54pm ] 📍 location sent! 💬 » [ YUNSEO 🎒 at 7:54pm ] the gym’s closing so i’ll be here instead, we can swap our bags back here! c:
a second look at the tag reminds her — that’s probably the guys’ volleyball vice captain. she heard he’s got a bit of a reputation ( or, she’s heard some of his shouting, actually ) but jinyeon and daehyun vouch for him, so she’s sure there’ll be no problems. she’ll meet the guy at her favourite pet cafe near campus, get her bag back and play with a couple of little puppies! a win-win for everyone, really.

seoji is like an energetic puppy of a little sister to him - he wouldn’t want her to be bored out of her mind, trapped in a endlessly-moving bus for three hours - so he quickly figures he can write the essay once they get settled in jeonju (hopefully their homestay will have a working television with netflix and hulu to keep the younger entertained). writing on the bus wasn’t ideal anyhow - the jolts and bumps in the road and such - and of course he could brainstorm while the show ran its course.
switching over to his file explorer to try and find the massive files, he pipes up again as the vehicle rolls to a stop light. “i wonder if coach still holds practice at the same time as he did when we were in high school. would be awkward if we showed up at 7pm ready to go and the court was full of ajummas doing aerobics or something.”
she pouts when he pours cold water all over her wonderful, shiny hopes and dreams of finishing the second season of umbrella academy. “oh.” seoji leans on him and huffs. “i totally forgot we’d have to download it!” she whines a little, smushing her face against his shoulder in protest against the internet gods that be. unfortunately, she has watched stranger things — but she binged it, which means watching it a second time is just as good as watching it for the first time, probably. she’s never been one to get too sulky, and seoji bounces back from her pouting quickly with that suggestion.
“okay! stranger things it is then!” jinyeon loads it up, essay document minimised in favour of finding the episode files. she knows he’s putting work on hold just to keep her entertained, and she snuggles up with a grateful smile; he really is reliable. “thanks, oppa~!”
“eh?” she looks at him in surprise; that thought hadn’t occurred to her. she’d texted a couple of the juniors on the neighbourhood team that they’d drop by, and they hadn’t mentioned anything about different practice times... had they? she scrolls through her message logs and doesn’t find anything, but their conversations had quickly gone off on tangents in the spirit of catching up. “well... we could join them too?” seoji gives the older male an exaggerated shrug, “i bet ajumma aerobics aren’t anything to scoff at!”
they get through an episode and a half before her eyelids start feeling heavy, seoji’s head knocking back against the headrest twice before she gives in and dozes off. “wake me up when we’re there,” she mumbles, and punctuates it with a big yawn.

tmdaehyun:

(...)
without much hesitation, daehyun spun around, aiming the camera at seoji instead. “and here we have one of ksu’s newest talents, ha seoji, libero extraordinaire, tiny but powerful.” he introduced her to the camera before lowering the device some, keeping her in the frame but allowing him to address her without the object in his face.
“what do you think, wanna let the general public in on our top secret training sessions?” he asked. truly, there wasn’t much top secret about it, the agreement was simple, daehyun practiced his spikes and seoji tried her best to receive them. with time, daehyun had gotten fond of the excitable younger girl and he did genuinely try his best to be a good older sibling figure to her which included buying her food after practice. “maybe if they’re lucky we’ll even let them in our post-practice celebration, does that sound good to you?”
her thoughts are still on the summer training ( summer! training! camp! the quintessential college mt experience, she can’t wait! ) as coach kwon starts directing them to split off into extra free practice or to at least just clean up their side of the court. seoji’s buzzing with the excitement; she could do with some drills to work it off — not that she wouldn’t be doing them without the announcement, but this just gives her a second push for it. most of the girls’ team is starting to clear out, leaving the nets up because they know at least lia or seoji are going to be using them. said first year takes a couple of gulps from her water bottle first, waiting for it to settle before she resumes practice.
she could probably ask kitae or daehyun to join her— and then that consideration’s taken out of her head when the latter has a camera directed at her, reminiscent of jaehee from last week. she laughs and gives the camera her most charming eye smile, throwing out a peace sign. it’d been fun to film the previous video, and she definitely doesn’t mind doing a second one. plus, the flattery from daehyun doesn’t hurt either!
“top secret training sessions?” she repeats after him, over-dramatised reaction emphasised with her hand over her mouth, and promptly breaks character with a bunch of giggles. their practice sessions are always something she looks forward to; she knows his ego is a little unwieldy but she thinks daehyun’s spikes are exhilarating to receive. there’s something about trying to foil the perfect spike that keeps her on her toes and relentlessly practising, and the male team’s ace is the best person for it. “of course!” she chirps, swinging her hand around in the familiar variety game show gesture, reminding him, “you have to buy me strawberry milk if i receive your spikes!”
seoji runs around the camera and reaches out to flip it, so she’s got both daehyun and herself in frame. “alright! top secret training of ksu’s volleyball team, led by...” drumroll against the taller male’s shoulder, “kang daehyun! top top top ace of the boy’s team!” she punches the air, then runs out of the frame as quickly as she’d entered it, towards the awaiting ball cart. “let’s go!”

avocado milkshakes
teaching basic manners to @tmeunwoo !
it’s a weird thing to be known for, but seoji’s unintentionally befriended some of the scariest players on the volleyball team without really meaning to. or, well, she’d meant to befriend them, with cute smiles and offers of post-training bubble tea, but she hadn’t thought she’d be actually successful. as is, she’s become the unofficial go-between for any first year terrified of kitae or eunwoo and said second years.
so now she’s armed with the knowledge that jeong eunwoo, for predictable reasons of being an imbecile, decided to glare at one of her poor batchmates when they tried to return something he’d left behind. out of the goodness of their hearts, and eunwoo was rude in response? unacceptable! all of this which finds seoji’s frowning as she makes her way to the canteen, ready to give the older male a piece of her mind. if she’s honest, she doesn’t really know why he lets her do it when everyone else who tries to put him in his place is met with hostility — still, she doesn’t care to fight his fire with fire, but with her own brand of warmth instead.
“hey!” seoji loops an arm half-around eunwoo’s neck, frowning. “you can’t just glare at people if you don’t know them, y’know. i heard you were mean again!” the seat next to him is empty, as she’d known it would be; he’s almost always alone in the canteen. she squishes him into a hug to soften the scolding, slipping into the seat next to him, completely safe in the knowledge that he isn’t going to bite her ear off like everyone just expects him to.
“i swear, i really will make you finish a whole avocado milkshake if you’re mean to one of my classmates again.”

crust and sugar over
free practice with @kitm !
seoji is short on breath and her knees are starting to wobble if she stands in one spot too long, but this isn’t where she’d stop practice just yet. at least, not if it were just her in the gym; she’s got a few more dig drills in her to go! however,  physical exertion is starting to seem like a less pressing problem ( a girl’s gotta build her stamina up somehow! ) than the one in front of her: kitae is frowning.
which really, isn’t anything out of the ordinary for her roommate, but it’s not usually directed at her or seen during their practices. everything had seemed fine when they started, though, and seoji doesn’t know what’s brought on this bout of grumpiness. she doesn’t like this version of cranky kitae, or sad kitae, or any kitae that isn’t the inexplicably soft and indulgent roommate she’s come to be comfortable with.
so seoji grabs her towel from the bench and buries her face in it to dry off, then runs over to the older girl, a little spark of a playful smile when she hugs the other girl from behind, not minding the sweat. they’re equally as bad anyway, and there are showers just in reach. “do you wanna finish up now? c’mon, i’ll get you strawberry milk! or ooh, we can get bubble tea!” she pokes at the nonexistent laugh lines in kitae’s face, blowing her a kiss. “time to sweeten you up and turn that frown upside down~!”

thankfully, the ball of sunshine that was named seoji had been like her and made the main team her freshmen year, and now yurim got to say that she had a favorite freshmen though she avoids saying it out loud. she doesn’t want to be accused of favoritism or anything. being the libero, seoji was a good ten centimetres smaller than her which made her extra adorable. she scooped the younger female into her arms as she jumped and gave her a tight hug.
“bulgogi? wow, you’re really out to get my wallet, huh?” she gently messed up the top of seoji’s hair before throwing her arm around the female’s shoulder. “i guess as your lovely senior, that’s the least i can do, but i’ll thankfully take the drinks,” she says with a slight chuckle before leading her out of the campus and towards the streets. she’s been here four years so she knows exactly where to go. “how are exams coming along? have you decided to call it quits like i did during my first finals?”
yurim picks her up with ease and she laughs at that, hugging the other girl back just as tightly. “it’s a deal!” she chirps, easily slipping under the taller girl’s arm, then, teasingly, “i gotta, ‘cause how often are you gonna treat me?” though it’s not the occasional food outings that keep seoji running to yurim; she just likes hanging out with her. she doesn’t feel any distance between them, a rare thing for a friendship between a first year and a fourth, and if seoji were any bit of forward thinking at all she’d be sadder about yurim’s impending graduation. as is, she doesn’t think much about future possibilities and worries, so seoji simply enjoys the time spent with her.
they walk out of campus and oh, is it a sight for sore eyes. seoji can’t remember the last time she got out of campus. ( wrong, it was a barely week ago with jinyeon. ) she wouldn’t say her navigation’s bad, but she’s definitely new to seoul and possesses a uniquely terrible memory, so she’d be lying if she said she knew where they were going. but yurim is, as always, assured and confident; seoji links their arms and stops focusing on the road they’re taking so she can pay attention to their conversation.
“ah...” she pouts at yurim. “maybe i shouldn’t have run off to play during reading week... or forgotten to study... or practiced with lia unnie after coach stopped practices...” the absolute confusion she’d felt in her first ever exam still haunts her, three days later. she’s lucky she’s got some time before the next one. “i won’t really get booted off the main team if i fail like jaehee unnie said, right?” she perks up, remembering— “well! grades won’t matter when i go pro!” seoji huffs a little, nodding to herself, and does a little fist punch in the air. “it’s fine!”

plus, seoji knows the city miles better than he does, and if jinyeon got lost in jeonju alone there was no chance he’d make it back in time for his final season, coming from the guy who ended up lacrosse field when he was supposed to be in the languages building.
once the laptop has booted up he fingers in his password at lightning speed, his eyes bouncing around the glaringly white word document he’d left open, sparsely titled. sports psychology was the class he definitely learned the least in, and the fact that he can’t even begin to think of an introduction proves that passing the busy work assignments is not a sign of prowess. “what if i just…no…oh, wait, there was that one unit that - right, she said we couldn’t write on that one…aish-” a unfinished swear hisses it’s way from him, the antsy leg jiggle turning into full-on, arms-crosssed, mind-simultaneously-reeling-and-blank frustration. sniffing, he leans his head back against the seat cushion, sun streaks falling against his face, once again pestering the younger girl for an opinion. “maybe i should write it on the way back, yeah? diamonds are best made under pressure and all that?”
as much as she loves her new college team, seoji misses the easy camaraderie she’d found with her old teams back in jeonju — both her high school volleyball team and the neighbourhood recreational one she’d joined just for that extra boost of practice. she hadn’t been the most experienced or the best in either team, not by a mile, but she’s definitely learnt new things in the past three months, she thinks. it’d be fun to play with her old teammates again and working with the new plays she’s no doubt they’ve developed. after all, she’s not the only volleyball nut in jeonju.
which is why she’s taking a little road trip back down to her hometown during the reading week. it’s a whole week of no lessons, even if it’s meant to be for ‘studying for exams’; a couple of days spent on volleyball instead of studying won’t hurt! at least, that’s how she got jinyeon on board for this trip. ( that, and her extraordinary skills of airbnb booking. ) she bounces in her seat, excited even though her window seat most definitely just got stolen by said senior. she’ll be magnanimous, anyway; she owes, at minimum, half of her journey as a libero to him.
she’d been new to the sport and ( literally and metaphorically ) aiming above her head, used to the smashes badminton and certain she could replicate it in her spikes. but her height had put her at an disadvantage once she got to the front of the net, and seoji was left floundering in her first year of high school. the odds were stacked against her despite joining the neighbourhood recreational team in an attempt to brute force her way out of her disadvantageous height — that is, until she met jinyeon. he’s the one who taught her how to relish digging a good spike as much as it is to deliver one, re-sparking her interest in volleyball and helping her find the fun in the sport.
she’ll freely admit he’s been a huge influence on her trajectory, and meeting her senior three years later on the same college had been exciting, but she’s gotten a little worried about him lately. there’s no way around it; he definitely misses the court, being on reserve. anyone who’d gotten into ksu would. she feels disappointed on his behalf, that he rarely gets to go on court, when she’s sure he would excel. and maybe that’s the unspoken reason she’d invited jinyeon to join her out on her little road trip in the middle of recess week, though he’s starting to worry about his essays.
well, that can’t do — this was meant to be a re-energizing trip! so seoji laughs and shrugs, “write it whenever, oppa!” she curls up in her seat, cupping her cheeks. “i thought you brought your laptop along so we could watch netflix, though... i haven’t finished umbrella academy!”

The footpaths of KSU were littered with only a few students just casually hanging out on the grounds. For once she didn’t have to weave her way through the armada of people to reach her destination. Exam week really made zombies out of students.
Once she opened the door, the cool air from the air conditioning unit blew on Lia’s sweaty face making her smile in satisfaction. She carefully maneuvered herself to the drinks and grabbed a few bottles of sports drinks and water. “Be careful, Lia. Do not knock a stand over just like the last time,” she talked to herself as she walked leisurely along the aisles. “Is that Seoji?” Without even double checking, she tapped the freshman’s shoulder and gave her a bright smile. “Of course I would be seeing you here! How’s the studying going, love?”
did she spend most of her reading week back in jeonju? yes. has she studied for any of her upcoming exams? no.
what’s ha seoji doing right now? carefully picking out snacks at the gym’s closest convenience store, so she minimises the time spent sneaking in and out during her break and hopefully, avoids getting caught by coach kwon or jaehee.
unfortunately, even their coaches care about their grades, so practices have been put on hold. but it doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to practise by themselves, and as long as she doesn’t fail anything, seoji’s pretty sure it won’t be a problem. she’s just, well, being safe; there was some heavy emphasis on getting acceptable grades to stay on the team, and given her academic track record so far, she’s pretty sure any extra practice done by her would be frowned upon.
that’s not stopping her, though! she’s got a plan — namely, get the snacks and get to the gym, and cross her fingers that she doesn’t get yelled at by anyone. she promises the coach kwon in her head that she’ll keep practice down to an hour— or two— or three, at most, really, and then she’ll be back memorising as many facts as her brain can hold.
she jumps when someone taps her on the shoulder, but it’s lia and she immediately smiles up at the other girl. “unnie! i’m,” cue unsubtle gathering of the two bottles of sports drinks and kimbap rolls, as if seoji could hide them from lia, “getting some snacks!” ( please don’t notice the non-answer to how’s studying going? ) she glances at the identical bottles in lia’s hands and grins, realising they’ve got the same idea. “gonna take a break from studying?” she asks, and nudges the older girl, puppy eyes galore. “let’s go together~”

seyeontm:
Seyeon didn’t usually make it a habit to be this early. But with summer break starting and volleyball being the only thing on his schedule for the next few weeks, heading to the gym right after his morning jog. Looking back, maybe it was somehow meant to be, all things considered.
Seoji’s silhouette was familiar even nearly two years later and he felt his stomach churn with guilt. He wasn’t a monster, thank you very much, and at 21 he knew that the way he’d ended things with her had been hurtful in a way he hadn’t been able to understand at the time.
But– well. This is where things started to get awkward. “The gym opens in ten minutes,” he pointed out quietly to draw attention to his presence.
“Long time no see, Ha Seoji.”
she’s waiting for jaehee, not close enough to whine at their manager to get the gym open earlier the way she had in high school. ksu isn’t wholly uncomfortable in its unfamiliarity, but seoji’s always been attracted to the shiny and new and making it her own, starting with keeping up on her early morning practices.
though perhaps she could have scheduled picking up old routines in new places a little better.
she used to imagine what-ifs for meeting seyeon again, as if life could be a cheesy teen flick. this would have been the moment when the protagonists finally meet eyes; time slows and the background disappears — and it’s just them.
but those what-ifs are at least two years old, and the reality isn’t anything as heart racing or earth shattering like that. maybe its the time stretched in between them, or seoji’s done some growing up. now it’s just weird. she doesn’t fix the little baby hairs sticking out of her ponytail like she would have done in high school, just blinks twice and then smiles, a little tentatively.
“hi.” her bag strap slips a little, and seoji adjusts it so it sits properly on her shoulders. “been a while, ‘yeon—” the nickname slips out, mouth forming the words before she thinks it over. when she corrects it, it sounds like an exhale. “seyeon.”

they had agreed to do an assignment together in an attempt for the work to pass by quickly and easily. woong sat in the student lounge closest to the volleyball gym, scrolling through his phone as he waited for seoji to come. he’d never been the most motivated student, but he especially wasn’t right now. there was nothing he’d like to do more than to go to a bar, order a couple bottles of soju, and down them shot by shot. he fiddled with his phone, scrolling but not really looking at much, trying to distract himself from the temptation to leave to find some friends and text seoji that they’d do this another time.
just as he was about to cave, he spotted the freshman coming his way. “hey, seoji,” he called as he waved, trying to get the younger girl’s attention. he waited for her to get closer before leaning forward on the table, lowering his voice just enough to make his tone sound conspiratorial. “how much do you care about this thing? i was thinking about dipping, we’ll still have time to finish later.”
this was supposed to be an easy course? choi woong is a liar. maybe she should have known better, when their second lecture sent her head spinning off into daydreams about the last practice match’s plays, but she’d stuck around because she’d thought the fourth year knew what he was talking about. but the course hadn’t gotten better, and now she’s really stuck. seoji’s procrastinated long enough though; she’s run off in the middle of reading week for a trip home with jinyeon, and now the assignments she was supposed to finish in that time are calling her name. at least woong’d agreed to do the assignment together in the hopes of finishing it up quickly, she thinks she’d be handing in a document with just her name on it.
“oppa!” she plops herself down, laptop in her arms and not much else; she’s got jacket pockets for the little things and a lanyard for her card wallet, and that’s about all seoji bothers to bring for anything academic-related. she feels a little out of place in the student lounge, when everyone around her looks focused and serious, keys click-clacking on an off-beat rhythm. maybe she’ll absorb some of the studying vibes by proximity — but her laptop isn’t even out of its case when woong leans over, a spark dancing in his eyes with yet another ( bad ) idea on his lips.
seoji raises an eyebrow at his suggestion, as if the possibility of dipping might sound remotely disappointing... but who is she kidding. her expression melts into a grin, already zipping up the laptop case. she’ll make use of it later, she promises.
“sure!” she says, leaning her chin on the edge of her laptop case. her cheer caries her voice a little too far, and she sheepishly ducks her head in apology when someone looks up and frowns at her. all the better that she’s getting out of the student lounge, then. woong may not be good for course recommendations, clearly, but he’s got the fun part down pat. “sounds better than writing an essay, so lead the way~!”

she thinks she’s been doing a pretty good job seeing that she’s practically adopted seoji by now. she took a liking to most of the freshmen though she wondered how many of them would actually make it to the main team. seoji is apparently one of the good ones though since she’s made it onto the main team as a freshmen. that’s even better than herself.
with it being exam week and all, she decided that the younger female could use a little break hence why she’s bribed her out of the dorm for some free food. well, free for seoji and not yurim. the older female had promised to pay. “look, i got my monthly allowance from my parents, and i’ve also been staying away from online shopping so we can eat pretty much anything. we won’t be able to pig out once the season comes around so let your pretty little unnie know what you want.”
seoji counts herself as having lucked out with her club; none of the seniors are too into the age hierarchy, reasonable enough that she’d been able to strike up friendships that might not have flown if they’d been a bit more uppity. and of all of them, yurim ranks at the tippy-top of seoji’s list of seniors she adores. she wouldn’t say she idolises the yurim, but she’s definitely taking a few pointers from the older girl, with how she carries herself and manages the team dynamics ( their manager aside ). yurim manages to be both cheery and no-nonsense, her presence on the court palpable even though she’s just returned; being on court with yurim always makes her feel steadier.
though, now that they’re all off court for exam season... ugh. seoji is as restless as she’d been while preparing for the CSATs, cooped up studying. she’d thought a sports university wouldn’t have academic standards that were too rigorous, but she’d been decimated by her first two finals already and jaehee’d nicely ( threatened ) reminded her that she’d need to at least avoid academic probation to stay on the team. but she’s in a sport’s university! she should be training, not studying!
( but she’s just turned twenty, she can’t stomp around like a child and pout anymore, as bored and grumpy as she feels about finals. )
she’s gotten so restless she’s started doing squats while she attempts to memorise her intro to psychology facts, and yurim’s invitation out’s a much more appealing option than that. yurim hadn’t had to bribe her so much as send a single text and seoji’d been down, excited emojis aplenty in her reply.
“unnie~!” she swings her arms around yurim, jumping up to meet the older girl’s extra ten centimetres on her. “you’re the best!” seoji nuzzles yurim’s shoulder with her cheek, affectionate and cheeky, lips pursed in genuine thought. she hadn’t thought about what they’d be eating when yurim texted, much too excited to just get out of her dorm guilt-free. there’s so much to eat! tteokbokki? hotteok?
ha. there’s only one thing to ask for, when someone else is paying: “bulgolgi!” seoji cheers, then adds, “but i’ll get the drinks, fair’s fair!”

what’s in my bag?

hold on, hold on!  ( * giggling, seoji waves both hands towards the camera. )  i should introduce myself first, right?  ( * a quick bow, almost knocking the camera out of jaehee’s hand with the abrupt motion. )  hello! i’m ha seoji, libero for the girls’ volleyball team!  ( * they know that, whispers jaehee from behind the camera, and seoji flushes a little. she quickly shakes off that embarrassment though — she’s got a bigger one coming. she hasn’t organised her bag in ages, yikes! )
well! here we go, uh...  ( * the first thing out is her practice gear. she did get to come early to set up, so of course those are right on top; what, did you think seoji wouldn’t take this chance to sneak in a bit of free practice? )  my gear! practice attire, knee guards—   ( * one of them is fraying at the ends, and seoji covers it up with the worst sleight of hand ever. )  yeap! they’re always right on top, since they’re the first things i’ll need for practice, y’know? and of course, deodorant and toiletries and everything, but  ( * boy is she glad she didn’t use a transparent plastic bag to keep her towel and toiletries today. )  boring! moving on!
i have our varsity jacket and the ksu hoodie, i was having lessons and, like, i can’t focus if i’m too cold!  ( * what she’s not mentioning, though, is how she falls asleep if she’s comfortably warm... which is definitely what she did before coming to practice. )  also, ah— ( * in her much too enthusiastic display of the newly-gotten team jacket, a couple of hair ties, a black ballpoint pen and her lip tint fall out of the pockets. )  pens and hairties and lip tint! i just keep them in my pockets for easy access, hehe~  ( * seoji has a pencil case, she just, well, forgets to use it. also, there are way more hair ties than she remembers putting in her pocket, and oh? )  i thought i lost this! it’s my favourite hair tie, isn’t it cute? i love the peach on it!  ( * waves the hair tie towards the camera, forgetting to hold it still so the crocheted peach can be seen. whoever watches this is going to get a glimpse of something round and peach coloured, and that’s it. )
anyway! this compartment has all my snacks~ the most important part of my bag!  ( * out come the vitamin c gummies and breath mints and energy bars and inexplicably, four packets of green tea. )  i’ve hacked the ‘no processed sugar’ rule, heh. vitamin c is good for you~  ( * seoji waves her half-empty packet of vitamin c gummies, and quickly stuffs it back into their compartment before jaehee can interject. )  and staying hydrated is important, so this is my one litre water bottle! it’s heavy, but it does the job, so i don’t have to refill it too often. also, bpa free! so, good for the environment and stuff.  ( * waves a hand around; she doesn’t really know what it means, but it’s on the bottle and she’d read it out on instinct. )
( * rummages around, looking for her first aid kit. )  usually i’ve got my first aid kit with me, but i can’t find it right now... oh!  ( * points at the camera, remembering where it’s been. )  i lent it to my roommate, and she hasn’t returned it to me yet!  ( * aside: can i say hi to yeojin? the camera tilts a little when jaehee shakes her head, and seoji pouts. fine. )  i usually have it with me though! it’s really important, it has all the medical tape and band-aids and patches, y’know?  ( * nods a little, not really remembering what’s in there beyond what she usually uses. )
and... that’s it!  ( * she pats her now empty bag. )  also, i got this from ikea, would you believe? i think the colour’s so pretty! ( * shakes the bag for emphasis, a cheery cream yellow, then realises she doesn’t know how to end this off. )  that’s it! uh, again? jaehee, is that it?  ( * ducks out of the camera frame, pouting at their manager in confusion. jaehee gives her thumbs up and seoji returns it with a sunny smile, popping back up into the shot. )  that’s it, yeap! bye!

guess who binge watched haikyuu to join this rp... hi hello i’m rini (18+, gmt+8, s/h) here to introduce ha seoji, the female team’s libero — she’s a freshman but don’t let that fool you, she’s worked hard to get her spot and she’s going to have to work even harder to keep it! here’s her stats, bio and plot pages, and below the cut are more misc facts + smaller plot bunnies. drop a ♡ or just hmu if you wanna plot!
MISC
started volleyball a little later than most, in high school! she’s got experience playing other sports & some physical aptitude, and makes up for everything else with a shit ton of practice
her specialty is defense, ofc — she used to want to be the attack kind of ace, but she lacks the height & power for that. instead, she focuses on receiving & connecting, and she finds foiling an opponents’ attack just as satisfying as scoring a point
while she tries to make sure the ball goes up, her control over where it goes isn’t the best, so she’s working on that! also on learning to communicate w her new team yknow gotta sync up
believes in the power of hard work and effort, so she goes 120% for anything she cares about, be it her goals or her friends... though her effort is guaranteed, sometimes her interests change at the drop of a hat. thankfully, she’s stuck with volleyball for longer than that!
unfortunately that effort did Not extend to her studies or anything that wasn’t friends & volleyball,,, so sometimes it rlly takes seoji a second to get stuff through her head. if she doesn’t care about it then she doesn’t :/
she hasn’t run into any major failures yet, and she doesn’t really know how to cope with even the tiny ones. effort isn’t supposed to fail her, and she doesn’t have a plan b for it, but she rlly should... bc spoiler she’s gna fail big time eventually hehe its character building >:)
usually cute and bubbly, complete extrovert who believes in putting herself out there and running from interest to interest, attention span of a goldfish, very excitable
might come off as a bit naive/flighty, but she’s got a steadier presence as a supportive friend & the team’s libero! she also gets very introspective after matches, after the high of winning / pain of losing wears off
all in all she’s rlly someone who follows her heart completely, and ( for now ) what she wants is to be the best libero she can be!
PLOTS **these are more thread ideas & can be picked up without much/any plotting if you’d prefer! they can be combined w the more in depth ones linked in my plots page too c:
