I’ve headcanoned willow as romance repulsed aroace since season 1 aired and headcanon hunter as aro

I also didn’t like the implications in the show for hunter getting close to her. Like it seemed like he was treating her as a replacement for belos, someone assertive to tell him what to do, someone he was used to being around

Like he LITERALLY only called her “Captain” until season 3 and started liking her bc she pushed him around, pulling him into the ground, telling him what to do, etc. like I don’t think it was intentional but yikes, doesn’t seem very good in that light

Oh and willow didn’t show ANY interest in hunter until he got magic, guess him being disabled made him less desirable what a good message for kids /sarcasm

Also the fandom around huntlow is just not good, like I literally got called a bigot for not liking huntlow despite being someone who they said needed the rep (chubby, white and another race, not straight, unpopular in school, need I say more?) not to mention how the shippers treat willow. They only like her when she can be “hunters strong gf” and can be glued to his side like a puppy

And aside from all that it’s just a REALLY boring ship and iirc was mostly forced in my stoyrboarders so it wasn’t even Dana’s vision for the show, which explains why it was so rushed and left bad implications.

TLDR: huntlow is boring, left bad implications, and made the fandom boil one of my fave characters down to “hunters strong gf who can fix him”

idk about you guys but personally i don't think the ship that has the traumatised character be pushed around by someone who they see as an authority figure who sometimes mirrors their abuser (even if it's unintentional) is a "nice and wholesome" ship that is good for them and their recovery

Unless tumblr decides to nuke my blog T_T they're already nuking CSA survivors for just talking about their experiences (major yikes!) Are there any problematic ships that are your NOTPs? hmmmm, I guess Huntlow, which yes is problematic, Hunter only starts falling for Willow because she presents herself as an authorative figure in ASIAS. And they keep that trend going, mean sure have Hunter run away from his authorative uncle only to give him an authorative girlfriend, good job guys! I feel bad for Willow too because she's a wonderful character but they unintentionally made her toxic towards Hunter, and she doesn't deserve that maybe it's because I've been in Hunter's position myself but it just wigs me out a lot with the way it wound up being portrayed. It also annoys me people just blame it on the show's canceling so they couldn't flesh it out properly If they had no time to properly work it out, they shouldn't have included it last minute period.

Hate how Vivzie keeps mouthpiecing Stolas by having him be all “I didn’t cheat, cheating would have implied I hurt your feelings/betrayed you and I didn’t so I didn’t lol.”

These people really called him a brat {I understand he was a teenager but you would think that if they're being mistreated by the Empor what makes them think he's not either}

Made fun of his voice {fuck Kiki and {as much as I love her} Eda for making jokes about it}

Had him breaking down every chance they could get him to break down

Gave him more scars {both emotional and physical}

Were planning on having him cover in Belos blood and guts {seriously everyone was gonna be okay and not get hit but him ??? !!!}

Took away his best friend even though Luzs survived and was okay

Was abused by Belos and hell Kiki tried to kill him

Was possessed and given more scars

And so much more

Hunter was really Dana's punching bag and I'll never forgive her for it

I feel like we haven’t given The Owl House enough shit for cannibalizing a 16-year-old from the inside-out, killing his emotional support animal, changing his eye color, giving him new scars and having him attempt suicide on-screen and then Not talking about it after. Like, just straight-up never bringing it up again

Owl House seems to have an innate talent for introducing a lot of super interesting storylines and concepts into the show.

And going absolutely nowhere with any of them. :/

I'm sorry, but Dana Terrance wrote the Owl House and decided it makes sense for Hunter's arc to pair him up with Willow? And then wrote Amity's arc and thought it made sense to pair her up with Luz?

Amwillow and Lunter would have worked so much better from a character driven standpoint.

Amity never got enough screentime to actually learn how to treat Willow with respect. We got Understanding Willow, and then a B-plot an entire season later that showed that plot thread was unresolved.

But if Amity got a crush on Willow instead of Luz? It'd force character development on both Amity and Willow's ends.

As for Lunter, the most ironic way for the Caleb plotline to end is to have history repeat itself, but this time Belos can't blame it on a Witch. Huntlow had some parallels, but having it be Luz would dial it up to 11!!!
