THE MEANING OF TRUE FRIENDSHIP
A qazi was often called upon to recite on the last rites of a burial. Often people present there would point out to their watches if the ceremony dragged on for more than 5 minutes, saying”Qazi Sahib please hurry up, we have work to do”The Qazi wondered that the friend who had just died must have sworn on companionship of his friends for life, but when his time came they can’t even spare 5 minutes of their time.
The moral of story being if you spend your life, ignoring your own health, and join in the bad habits of your friends, by spending your hard earned money to please them, then at your funeral you will have to face this scenario, Would they die with you???No, of course not, Then why are you dying for them???
True friends are those who would care about you, your health, happiness.True friends will never judge you for your mistakes but defend and be by your side when you need them. But before you judge who your true friends are, you have to know what virtues you need to bring true joy & peace for yourself.Without that true wisdom, it will be tough and impossible to know true friends.

THE TRUE VIRTUES OF A SMILE
While crossing the road today, there was a man on the opposite side who seemed to be carrying a load or worries on his head. I thought to myself "The day I am worried or tired, a little smile from someone can really make a difference." Putting that thought into practice, I smiled at that man. To my expectation, the man smiled back as if that smile had made a big difference in his life. If not anything else, we can always share an innocent smile with everyone, right?
Isn't a smile such a beautiful thing? A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.It takes a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friendship.It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature’s best antidote for trouble.Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone, until it is given away.I know, you can't always get a smile in return but still what would you have lost? Some people are too tired to give you a smile;
Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

THE TICK-TICKING OF A WATCH
Once a farmer lost his precious watch while working in his barn. It may have appeared as an ordinary watch to others, but held a deep sentimental value for it.After searching high and low among the hay for a long time, the old farmer got exhausted and requested a group of children playing outside the barn to help. He promised an attractive reward for the person who could find his beloved watch.
After hearing about the reward, the children hurried inside the barn and went through and round the entire stack of hay to find the watch. After a long time looking for a watch in the hay, some of the children got tired and gave up. The farmer gave up all his hope to find the watch and called off the search.
Just when the farmer was closing the door, a little boy came up to him and requested the farmer to give him another chance. The farmer did not want to miss any chance of finding the watch so let the little boy in the barn. After a little while the little boy came out with the watch in his hand. The farmer was surprised and asked how the boy succeeded to get the watch while everyone including him had failed. The boy replied "I just sat there trying to listen to the ticking of the watch. In silence, it was much easier to listen to it and direct the search in the direction of the sound."
People misunderstood the message of being silent. They thought the greatness was in keeping mute, the message was more to do with the mind. As along as the mind has too many desires, too many expectations, too many noises, there won't be silence. But the key is not even in suppressing the mind. The trick is to awaken your awareness and your mind will become silent automatically. That’s the true silence through which you'll hear the watch ticking

LIFE HAS A WAY OF SUPRISING PEOPLE
"A squirrel joined the service of the King of the Forest, the lion. He did whatever work was given to him, quickly and well. The lion became fond of him and promised to give him a cart full of almonds as pension when he retired. The squirrel envied the other squirrels in the forest because of their carefree life. He longed to run up and down trees and leap from branch to branch like them but he could not leave the king's side and even if he could he had to move with courtly dignity. He consoled himself with the thought that at the end of his career, he would receive a cart full of almonds, a food that few squirrels got to taste in their lifetime.
"They will envy me then," he would tell himself. The years passed. The squirrel became old and then it was time for him to retire. The king gave a grand banquet in his honor and at the end of it, presented him with a cart full of almonds as he had promised. The squirrel had waited so long for this day but when he saw the almonds, he was seized with sadness. He realized they were of no use to him now. He had lost all his teeth."
Almost half the year has passed and let's start this month with this little reminder.A lot of people save money or the moments of life thinking they will live well once the responsibilities are over.
Although you should save up for the rainy days, don't forget that life hasn't promised you a specific duration. Life cannot just be saved to live in the later years. Maybe the "almonds will be there, but the teeth could be missing'. Do live these moments you have. You never know about life, it has a habit of surprising people.

ALWAYS LEARN TO BE GRATEFUL FOR THE LIFE YOU HAVE
Thank you, O master you saved me from drowning??, Thank you Master, if not for you I would have drowned.
Both these statements may seem the same, but if understood have two aspects depending on how you see it.
First, is expecting the master to come and save you without you putting any effort, like expecting a miracle, Second is to teach you how to swim so that you don’t drown. Both these perspectives, term of gratitude can mean the same.
If I am drowning in the sea of my sorrows, I can either expect a miracle that all my troubles vanish and I don’t drown, like a miracle. Second is to give me the strength and wisdom to be able to see that almost everyone in this world goes through troubles and we need to deal with them. I can use my patience to weather the storms, my inner strength to fight the tsunami within me, and have the positivity to reach the shore.
In the end, I would be grateful to my, master for giving me the tips of how to swim, and feel grateful and say “Thank you O Master for saving me from drowning”

THINGS WE ARE SEARCHING OUTSIDE ARE RIGHT WITHIN US
The best tip I got for not losing things in life was from my uncle. I would often misplace my things and he would say, “If you want to be a systematic person, then put the things you have picked up, back in its place”
For example, if you pick up a comb, don’t carry it around the room and place it somewhere else, you will end up searching for the comb the whole day and not find it if you haven’t had the habit of putting it where you picked it up from, same goes for spectacles, car keys, remote controls etc.
The things that you pick up where your life started put them back where you picked them up from and you will never lose those things. You picked up your breath at a very innocent beginning of your life. The child with no ego, no qualms about how he or she looks, what he or she has etc.
At the end of the day, don’t forget to retire by placing the things where they belong. The things we keep on searching for outside are right within us.The idea of liberty, feeling of happiness and satisfaction, truth and illusion are all within us. Place the things where they belong and you will never lose them.

ACQUIRE THE VIRUS OF FORGIVENESS … DISPELL ANGER…
The boy was late for school and with a scared face entered the class, the teacher started scolding him and with a heavy heart he took his seat. The teacher was still angry with him as he had not given any valid reason for his lateness and was about to shout at him more when his closet friend went up to the teacher and said, “Maam please excuse him today, his dog died in an accident and he is very sad, if you scold him ,he will cry.”
We meet so many people like this nowadays, when we are angry at someone and discover that they are going through some inner hell. With this pandemic, we have lost count of how many people are going through a personal turmoil, loss. It could be the reckless honking driver on the road, lady rushing you at the supermarket aisle, husband coming home with a long face, wife fired from trying to make the ends meet.
Each one of them could be having so much anguish hidden behind their behavior, smile which we may not see, just like the child losing his pet.
So for the coming months, let’s try forgiving the bad habits of people with the feeling, “They could be going through some rough phase just like all of us, with that forgiveness, we will find a place within ourselves too.”

Facts of Life: Let’s not be just another brick in the wall of life:
When was the last time you hugged your loved ones and said “hey I love and need you”….when was the last time you stopped and admired the beautiful sunrise, sunset and nature around you…When was the last time you took time out from your busy schedule to do a deed which gave you joy and satisfaction….Many of us fail to remember the last time we smiled, laughed and behaved like kids.
In our fast and growing life style, we fail to find time to be one with ourselves and nature and we are so busy with our packed schedules that we don’t even have time for ourselves… giving oneself even 5 minutes from our day seems so difficult to imagine…why I wonder…what has made us so busy, self-centered that we forget to enjoy life.
We have become so busy in our own world that we fail to see the world and what’s happening around us..we have become selfish, greedy, and jealous of each other and are always competing to get ahead of the others in this rat race of life. Honestly, does anyone out her pray to God because it’s an inner calling…. I doubt it, we conveniently forget to thank God in our daily life and remember or go to him only when we are troubled, depressed, sad etc; then we make a farce of praying daily, visiting religious places, making promises we fail to keep, we live in a made up world of make belief where our wants and desires rule over our basic needs and wants.
It’s time to give a thought..Where will all this lead because at the end of the day we are still not happy, feel sick, disillusioned by the need and greed for more. Why can’t we be happy with what we have and feel blessed and thank God for being kind and generous to us …instead of constantly critizing and finding fault with what we have….
Let’s make a change in our lives before its too late…learn to be more positive…be more thankful for what you have..be content and happy and not be greedy, hostile and jealous of others.
It’s very simple- just DETOX the evils of your life and let the fresh clean air and love enter in and make you a human being that you will be proud to be so that when we die tomorrow we know we have left our footprints in the sand for others to follow…..

HUMAN LIBRARY …INSTEAD OF BOOKS, YOU CAN BORROW PEOPLE…
This beautiful concept of “ Human Library” originated in Denmark. Here instead of borrowing books, you can borrow people, with unique life stories for a certain amount of time, you can ask them questions and listen to their stories which are both fascinating and impressive which you may never find in books.
Borrow a person with Autism.
Borrow someone who has changed their appearance.
Borrow a refugee and hear their story.
Borrow a transgender
Borrow a homeless person
Borrow a deaf or blind person
Borrow someone who is obese
The list is never-ending, and in our quick to judge situation it is no wonder that these events are growing in size. It is time to face our fears and control our stereotypes and embrace the diversity of this world which will make us feel more secure.
But give it a thought, we don’t have to go too far to search for human libraries. We have so many people among us, we just need to open our mind to the differences we might have with them. How about borrowing and listening to a person who doesn’t have the same beliefs as yours??
If we start listening and opening our hearts and minds to humans and their differences, we will have to privilege to enter these unique Human Libraries and enrich ourselves.

ALWAYS LOWER YOUR HEAD AND LOOK INTO YOUR OWN HEART
One of my favorite lines is by my favorite poet Gulzar as follows
Umr zaya kar di logon ne auron ke wajood mein nuks nikalte nikalte…
Itna khud ko tarasha hota toh farishtey ban jaate…
Meaning “People waste an entire life digging into the flaws of others, if they had just concentrated the same amount of time on themselves, they could have become angels.
It’s always easy to judge others, point fingers at others and so easy to overlook our own flaws and mistakes. Even the practice of meditation tells us to close our eyes which is an indication to stop looking at the flaws of others, close your eyes and look inside, you might find something that needs immediate improvement.
Some habits, thoughts could help towards a better realization, if everyone could just improve themselves, the world would be so much simpler, happier and beautiful.

What's the size of God? Excellent reading
A boy asked the father: _What’s the size of God?_ Then the father looked up to the sky and seeing an airplane asked the son: What’s the size of that airplane? The boy answered: It’s very small. I can barely see it. So the father took him to the airport and as they approached an airplane he asked: And now, what is the size of this one? The boy answered: Wow daddy, this is huge! Then the father told him: God, is like this, His size depends on the distance between you and Him. *The closer you are to Him, the greater He will be in your life!*

WHY??????
Why do I feel so lost and empty
Why does my eyes water without a reason
Why has my smile and laughter faded away
Why has sunshine gone and brought rain and sadness back again
Each day I wake up with the hope that all will be fine
I try to convince myself that I will be strong and brave
I try to be positive and feed good thought in my mind
But alas where do I fail, fall and weaken
Questions keep coming up to keep me awake at night
I long for sleep but feel scared to close my eyes
Darkness fills my life at every turn, tossing and turning my life
I try to seek the light but all I see is a deep dark well of loneliness and sadness
Where are those happy, carefree days full of laughter and sunshine?
Days when I has a spring in my steps, warmth in my heart and song on my lips…
When and where did I lose myself on the road of life which was once full of love and joy but today is a dark , long, lonely road which I travel all my myself
Will those carefree happy days ever come back I wonder
Could someone please tell me that all will be right and that you are just having a bad dream?
When, when, when will I be alive again someone please tell me.

Story Of A Street Dog
Story Of A Street Dog ---- MOTI A Pariah
Well, let me introduce myself to you all I am Moti and you may call me a street dog, stray dog. Pariah , a dirty filthy animal etc … it doesn’t matter to me not anymore cause in the end … I will still remain the same- a Street Dog…A Pariah for you all. Want to have a peep into my daily life…well here’s my story for you…. I begin my day every morning around 6 am when I am kicked and shooed away by the sweepers and at times stones are thrown at me or a stick poked into my bony body reminding me that night is over and day beckons me…I shake myself and come out of my dreamy night and begin searching for tit-bits usually I manage to find some stale bread, rotis and if lucky half eaten chicken , mutton bones… but it’s never comes easily as I have to compete with many other neighborhood dogs many a times I get bitten and hurt in the process of grabbing a bite …but that’s life my friend for us street dogs we have to grab before someone else takes it. Not all days are bad, some days if I am lucky I come across a kind and gentle family which feeds me milk and biscuits… some even pat me on my head and say loving words while I thank them with a wagging tail and full belly…. But there are days too when I am shouted at, yelled at… stones thrown on me..abused and chased by kids and I have to run for my life and hide under the drain which is filthy and smelly to save my life all for a piece of bread. What makes me wonder is the amount of food people throw away…without a second thought of feeding us …but I guess in the end its God’s way of providing us with food…Man’s anger or hatred against us is something I have never been able to understand… while on one hand the houses which house breeded dogs who are same like us are given good food, water , milk etc…are care for, loved, hugged and played with and  we are chased away from the street because the so called Breeded Pets are on their way… what humans fail to see is that in the end we are all the same race just different breeds….so why this big hue and cry???? The most difficult and tough times are in winter when we have to shiver and cuddle up against each other for body warmth while our well placed brothers and sisters wear coats and are inside warm rooms fully sated and with a warm bed and blanket… or in summers when we have to hunt for water and many a times drink from dirty drains… or outside hotels and restaurants…we have to take shelter from heat and rains under cars and many a times we are crushed under the very car we take shelter from…. while our well to do friends up there are in nice air-conditioned rooms or cars ..go for walks with a nice shiny collar and leash and if we try coming close to them we are hit with sticks, kicked and shoed again and again…..which bewilders me….as they are so called dog lovers and if they can shower so much love and affection on their breeded upper class pets why not us…why be mean to us…we are not asking you to take us into your homes but can’t we just lie and sleep outside your homes and be given a meal a day… is it too much to ask for….How can man differentiate between two creatures of the same species. Who is there to take care of us when we fall sick… are too weak to walk and find food for ourselves…too old and frail to move …no one… the hard and harsh reality hits me: that I and my fellow friends are all alone in this cruel, selfish world and we have to fend for ourselves or else just lie and wait for a speeding car, truck, bus to crush us and take away what little life there was in us… But In the end, I must admit… my life in the street toughens me and make me ready to face all hardships in life… it makes me a fighter and also a sharer with my fellow beings and running carefree with my friends , tugging at them, playing with them, barking at times chasing a car etc make my dull, monotonous life worth living. I don’t’ mind being reborn as a DOG in my next life …but can God be just a little bit partial and give me a better life to live… can I have the taste of both lives one outside on the streets and one inside where I am surrounded with warmth, love and happiness….. Well it seems a dream for many of us but you never know…the grass is always greener on the other side….Lastly for me the word “ PARIAH” stands for :
P: for Pretty and Perfect
A : for Adorable
R: for Reliable
I : for Intelligent
A: for Alert and Lovable
H: for Humble
