it makes me insane when people act as though the relationship between RNs and MDs/DOs is like. one of the doctor is The Boss and the nurse is The Subordinate. not how it works... doctors rightfully get paid more because of their extensive knowledge and practical experience and no hospital could run without them, but no hospital could run without RNs, either. we're part of a team, we're co-workers. and RNs never just accept orders without being allowed to question them - doctors are human, they make mistakes, often it's a nurse who catches a medication error or other order that is not good for the patient

#some people really think all nurses do is get people water and fluff their bed lmfao #yeah some doctors act like pretentious dbags but id say most of them are well aware how valuable nurses are and take nurse input seriously

alsoooo even in my own cohort i know theres at least one person whos pro-life and, last i knew, wanted to go into labor & delivery. i mean if youre a fucking nurse you shouldnt be "pro-life" (pro forced birth, anti maternal health) but im fucking scared for her patients if she goes down that route

#nurses can be shitty ignorant people and i hate seeing RNs swinging their degree/license around #pro-life nurses make me MAD MAD because one of the ethical things we are taught is Autonomy. ie the right of the patient to make decisions #even if WE PERSONALLY FEEL its not a good decision for them #its not ethical for me to try and make you take for example hypertension meds even if your BP is so high im afraid youre going to have a #stroke/heart attack #and it wouldnt be ethical for me to say no you HAVE to gestate this pregnancy if thats not what you want #i hate people </3 #like my job is to present you with your options and educate you on what would happen if you chose whatever option. nothing more

also wrt covid vaccine stuff, i hate hate hate hate hate seeing RNs swinging their credentials around to try and lend credibility to their antivaxx beliefs. thats using your degree and credentials to espouse beliefs that hurt people and thats not okay.

#ive even seen RNs who are covid deniers or deny that a lot of people have died from it #clearly you werent an ICU nurse during the pandemic. ive talked to so many nurses whove worked through it #a lot of nurses burnt out and have suffered trauma/PTSD/etc from what they went through during the peak of the pandemic #its deeply disrespectful to them to just...deny that it happened. and youre a wholeass RN? gtfo

ive seen antivaxxers complaining that people who wont get the covid vaccine are ineligible for organ transplant and it boggles my mind

you trust medical professionals to take out your whole-ass diseased organ (well, in some cases they leave the old one in but thats besides the point), install an insanely precious, rare, and valuable new one that someone lost their life to be able to give to you, to provide you with a medication regime that will hopefully allow your body to accept the new organ

but you dont trust them that getting the covid vaccine is the right move! what!
