The night was gorgeous, you could see the stars easily. Not a single cloud in the sky. The flitter of November snow is beautiful on your skin as you take in the view from the balcony. The snow-covered ground has you in awe, it’s like being in a magical little snowglobe.

Whistler is breathtaking every time you go but covered in snow at night all light up, just hits differently. The air is cool against your bare skin but it’s a welcome contrast to the crowded house behind you. You’re pretty sure Brock invited everyone he knew in Vancouver and more. You can’t be mad though, Elias is having the time of his life and that’s all that matters.

Quawan Charles was only 15 when we he was taken from his home on Oct. 30, 2020. He was last seen with a “friend” and the friend’s mom. His parents reported it to the police and were told that he was probably at a football game.

He was found on Nov. 2nd with wounds so horrific they’re being compared to Emmit Till’s. The family is not being provided with the official autopsy results, so they have to raise their own money to get a second autopsy before his funeral because of the chances of a cover up.

You hear whatever song you soulmate is listening to in your head.

If you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.

You swear if he listens to that damn song one more time, you’d lose it. It was the third time this week. 

You use to love this song but as of recent, your soulmate had been listening to it almost nightly. Sure there had been periods when it was silent at night and other times when he was listening to clubbing music.

But this song was going to be the death of you. Sure you understood liking a song, but this was unnecessary.

You had no idea who this person could’ve been, but when you found them you were going to smack them.

Your phone pinging distracted you from cursing out your soulmate in your head.

It was a text from your friend. She’s sent you a tweet. You open it up, it’s a post from the Canucks.

You don’t usually follow sports teams on social media, even though you do love watching hockey though.

The post is a video. You click it and it plays. Your speakers are overwhelmed with that damn song again. The team celebrates to the song, camera panning along dancing and singing players.

One person stands out to you, he’s just sitting there. He’s not dancing or singing, his face is annoyed.

It’s quick but you catch him yell something.

“I feel bad for my fucking soulmate.”

You can’t help but laugh. You agree with him, you don’t put two and two together just yet though, thinking maybe I’ll try and joke around with him. There’s no way he would reply.

Instead you open your Instagram and find the players profile. You know exactly who it is.

Your thumb hovers over the message button. You find the courage to actually press it.

I really hate that song now, so thanks a lot. You type out and hit send.

I am so sorry. I swear it was not my choice. Is what he replies not even three minutes later.

Your eyes widen, it can’t be.

With Biden taking the lead in Georgia, I want to reiterate again how absolutely incredible Stacey Abrams is. After having her election stolen from her in 2018 by the Republicans in power, she registered and mobilized record numbers of new voters. She champions grassroots campaigning for voters. And she turned her state, a state with a horrific history of voter suppression, blue. I know votes are still being counted, but this phenomenal shift is because of the monumental efforts of Stacey Abrams. 

And make no mistake, Biden taking the lead in Georgia and both Senate races going to the runoffs are because of the incredible voting efforts of Black people, especially Black women.
