A FINAL NOTE...
Thank you to those who have invested in The Stranded over the last (almost) three years. Whether you were here from the start or just for a moment, you added to this experience and for that I am grateful. This certainly made me a better writer, plotter, and think-outside-the-box-er. What a whirlwind three years it has been. I never would've dreamt that we would be in for such a ride back in 2020! I'll always look back on this fondly. I'll be keeping this blog intact as a sort of archive. Members, if you need anything, you know where and how to find me. One last time: thank you. Farewell, Meridium.

CHAPTER TWELVE FINALE
WHEN: June 9, 2023 WHERE: Throughout the South Beach
As quickly as it started, it ends. A stillness returns to the air and to the objects around you as they settle into stagnancy again, save for the light rustling of a warm breeze. It is quiet, with no more charged hum to the air... that is, unless you’re near the obelisk or the new amphitheatre.
Between those two locations runs a line, a lengthy path that spans under the water and over the sand. It’s easy enough to see, even when under the ocean, because it glows a faint, familiar golden color. If you touch it, there is no result. At least not yet.
Much like the settings around you, you return to stillness as well. Your body stops tossing itself through the years and sticks to one; preferably this one, though you may see some lingering physical attributes from other ages, other times. You can recall everything that you said and did as the other versions of yourself, the truths that may or may not have come out, the thoughts that ran through your mind. There’s no denying that.
The sand no longer glows in the evenings. Instead, it’s as if the light that had emitted from there is concentrated entirely into this one, perpetually illuminated line between two Meridium monuments. Moreover, those who were impacted in the wake of the doppelgängers by a disembodied voice no longer hear that.
Perhaps this glimpse at other versions of yourself has offered you insight. Or maybe it has left you simply wanting to move on. Whatever the case, you remember every bit of it. Now it’s up to you what you choose to do with that information.
To the muns...
This concludes Chapter Twelve: The Retreat!
Unlike in the case of the doppelgängers, characters will remember everything they said and did as the younger or older version of themself. The past or future versions of your character that briefly appeared will have no memory of their visit to Meridium, unlike the present ones. (For instance, the child version of your character will not recall their random visit to a mysterious island.)
Additionally, the characters may find that there are lasting physical results: a lingering injury is healed or an old one from the past is revived; they look older or younger in general; or maybe they’re back to normal entirely. The choice is yours. Those who were impacted by the doppelgängers can no longer hear the disembodied voice.
All settings have returned back to normal, save for those that were posted about on the main blog: the sea stairs / amphitheatre and the obelisk. Those updates can be found on the locations page. Those locations will stay in this new format. Feel free to have your characters experiment with them!
If you would like for there to be lasting changes to a character’s house, personal items, or appearance, feel free to explore those options. If you want to run ideas by me, my DMs are always open.
You may take as long as you need to wrap event threads.
During this interlude between chapters, keep your eyes peeled for Meridium News, tasks, and maybe even another AU Discord ‘event’!
Thank you for joining in on yet another chapter in the Stranded story. I hope that this gave you the chance to learn something new (or old) about your characters!

EVENT: THE REFLECTION
It doesn’t stop with the places.
The almost sparkling, shimmering sensation that fizzes at the edges of the locations that you’ve been watching change travels... to you. Up arms, legs, through torsos, through your head. It’s everywhere, all at once, not painful but not pleasant either, a bright and overwhelming feeling that precedes the change.
And then you’re catapulted through time. It could be in either direction: forward or backward. Suddenly you’re decades younger. Perhaps you’re much older. Whatever the case may be, your body shifts rapidly and without warning, leaving you at the mercy of Meridium’s skewed time.
If you travel back in time, this younger version of yourself does not have the same memories as your previous one did. Perhaps if this version of yourself is young enough, they do not recall Meridium at all. It’s like you’ve arrived anew. They have no knowledge of what has transpired in this place. Maybe they don’t even recognize the people around them.
If you travel forward in time, you may or may not have glimpses into knowledge that your previous self doesn’t know. Will that help or hurt? Will this future version of your self choose to share what they know? Is it certain that these things will even happen? Who’s to say?
Whatever the case, if and when you return to your normal self, you will recall what you just said and did. For better or worse.
Time is the essence. Good luck.
You are welcome to incorporate this portion of Chapter Twelve into existing threads or to create brand new ones to use your ideas.  Please continue utilizing the tag ‘stranded event 12.’
Chapter Twelve: The Retreat will tentatively come to a close on Friday, June 9, unless we decide as a group that we’d like more time.
Now is the time to play out a version of your character that you may have only ever imagined before. This event will have lasting consequences, including more new locations, which I will continue to reveal. As for other repercussions... those remain to be seen. Have fun!

CHAPTER TWELVE: THE RETREAT
WHEN: May 12, midday. WHERE: The South Beach.
The world bends.
Or maybe it shivers.
It shatters into sparks.
One way or another, suddenly and without warning, the settings around you begin to change, as if time itself has derailed. Houses that were fully built and have been standing for years are abruptly nothing but pieces of wood waiting to be assembled. Like there’s been a rewind.
This isn’t true for all places. Others take a grisly leap forward: brand new homes or structures are crumbling, weather-worn and falling in on themselves. The sand shimmers as the structures upon it change, locked in limbo, back to their usual state in one blink and changed by the next.
The items you hold may shift in form: a ripe yellow banana may suddenly turn brown in the blink of an eye or revert back to its previous unripe green. And some things stay completely the same.
The very landscape around you is shifting, like you’re watching a fast-forwarding screen. One second something is normal. Then it has changed completely. What secrets of the island will be revealed? What previously concealed things may come into light? And how long will they linger?
This is a constant flux... and it’s only just the beginning.
To the muns…
The world around your characters is glitching, changing, sparking and shifting and sliding without warning. This does not necessarily need to apply to all locations or things. Some may stay entirely the same. Others may leap backward in time. Different ones may go forward. The choice is yours.
Furthermore, if you have thoughts about things you think your characters could potentially discover thanks to this time warp, I’d be more than happy to hear them. Please reach out to me via Discord if you have ideas! I’d be eager to discuss. I will be sharing details about the new/old locations revealed by this change in the interim weeks of this chapter... format TBD!
As of now, this event will last for four weeks, with a mid-chapter plot drop occurring on Friday, May 26. The chapter itself will end on Friday, June 9.
Note that you are welcome to continue regular threads alongside those pertaining to Chapter Twelve. As always, please tag your event related posts with ‘stranded event 12′ or a similar variation.
Time is of the essence. Good luck!

Hey, Nina! I’m so glad you’re bringing another character to Meridium. Sylvester’s voice rang through clearly in his interview; I’m eager to see more of what he’s done in his last decade on the island and how he’s faring now. Welcome ashore!

Kang Sae-byeok (Red) is seeking her daughter’s half/step-brother.
Label: UTP Name: UTP, last name possibly Lim Birthdate: age 25 to 35 Gender: cis male/UTP Years on Meridium: 0-3 Group: UTP Faceclaim: Alexander Hodge, Ross Butler, UTP
Bio: Another flexible backstory. (TL;DR Before the island, my character left her infant child with her child’s father and barely looked back.) I made faceclaim suggestions for a younger half-brother that fit established aspects of this npc family, but I am WIDE open to retconning anything about the family’s history to fit the character you’d like to bring, including whether he’s an older or younger sibling, half- or step- or adoptive, etc.

Kang Sae-byeok (Red) is seeking a former prison penpal.
Label: UTP Name: UTP Birthdate: UTP Gender: UTP Years on Meridium: 0-25 years Group: UTP Faceclaim: UTP
Bio: This character was incarcerated at some point before their arrival. They frequently communicated with Sae-byeok through a prison penpal program. It’s a super open backstory, in part because of half-truths our characters may have shared with each other. I think this dynamic would present interesting obstacles to write out! I’m happy to brainstorm with you.
