Amara’s eyes widened as he went on to speak and she knew that was his intention, to scare her out of talking to him. “Wow. Sounds like quite a story and monologue to such pleasant chitchat I was talking about before. Montreal is different from LA, I’m almost positive if you delivered that speech in LA, they’d hire you to become an actor.” She said, sighing. “That’s terrible though, that you went through that. I understand how parents are awful.” 

“As long as I don’t have to wait as long as Leo did to get my Oscar,” Theo returned promptly. “And as long as I don’t have to wrestle a fucking bear or whatever that movie was about to get one.” He shrugged. “They’re people,” he said. “And people, for the most part, suck pretty bad. It’s not like you become an angel or a saint just because you make another person.”

Robyn watched as Theo looked down at her and she felt like a wreck under his gaze. He knew her so well. She moved to pace before turning back to Theo. “I know and I love you for that. But I don’t want to ruin our night,“ She admitted. She heard his words and she shivered, biting her lip. "You’re always into me and I don’t know if my boyfriend would be okay with another man screwing me against a mirror,” She said playfully as she stepped back to lean against the full length mirror.

Theo tilted his head a little, studying her. “It’s not going to ruin our night,” he said. “I want you to be honest with me, babe. I want you to know that you can tell me anything.” He grinned at her. “I think I could persuade him to be alright with it,” he said, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close against his chest.

Robyn turned to face Theo and she nodded. “I’m fine,” She wasn’t. She felt like a terrible girlfriend and she didn’t know what to do. “Thank you,” She said as she looked down nervously. She watched him as he went to the door and locked it. “I’m starting to think that you’re really into bathrooms,” She joked. “What’s your idea?”

Theo looked at her for a minute. “Yeah?” he said, leaning down a little to look into her face. “Are you sure? You can tell me anything, you know. It’s not like I’m gonna be in a position to judge you, me of all people.” He grinned at her. “Well, I’m really into you,” he said, with another grin. “Mm, to explain it quickly, I’m thinking of fucking you up against the mirror.”

Boy, this guy was a treat. “For people who can handle it? You sure have a strong opinion of things.” And here she thought Canadians were supposed to be nice. “I wasn’t whining, just observing. I actually like the cold. It’s just an adjustment, like most new things.” She spoke, narrowing her eyes. “You sound bitter almost.” 

“Admittedly, I haven’t been paying a whole hell of a lot of attention to this conversation, but I’m pretty sure I never said you were whining,” Theo said, with a shrug. Which was true. He hadn’t. “Well, I used to live just over there,” he said, pointing up the street. “But see, my dad sent me away to rehab because they were ashamed of me and apparently thought I was below their help, and then I ran away from home because, you know, fuck them, and then I was homeless for a while, so -- yeah, maybe a little bitter, but I’m only human.”

Quirking a dark brow, unamused, Danielle hadn’t been aware that doing her job was now qualified as being ‘thirsty’. “Shame,” she replied in a monotoned voice as he clarified that it wasn’t his car. “How do you know he’s not ruining mine?” She asked, somewhat rhetorically, continuing the jot down the license number. “You think I like paperwork?” 

“Uh, cause you’re getting paid for it? There are a lot of people who aren’t lucky enough to have a job, even one with paperwork!” Theo said the last word with exaggerated tones of horror. “When I was living on a park bench, if I’d had the choice between that and doing some fucking paperwork, I think I might have gone with the latter. But I’m sorry if your job is ruining your day. It must suck ass to be able to pay your bills.” He pointed behind her. “By the way, your perp is about to get into their car. Might wanna serve them with that ticket if you want the dough.”

Amara knew the tone of sarcasm as she shrugged. “Yeah, I can tell. Like fucking beach weather out here.” She shot back with raised eyebrows. “Ah, I see. Not hurting for money would be an understatement then.” Amara sighed, looking him up and down. “Do you live around here?” 

Theo shrugged. People who asked stupid questions deserved answers that were less than straight. “For people who can handle it, yeah, it’s not that bad,” he said, with another shrug. “For people who can’t, well, they usually pass the time whining.” He shook his head. “Used to,” he said flatly.

Robyn relaxed as she saw Theo come into the bathroom. “No, it’s fine,” She said with a small smile, putting her things away in her clutch. “You look really good tonight. I know I’ve said that like ten times tonight but you do,” She stated. “Do you want to go back to the apartment or stay at the party?” She asked.

“You alright, babe?” Theo asked, leaning against the doorway for a moment before making his way over to her. “You look amazing. More than amazing, really, but I’m an artist -- not a writer -- so I can’t describe it quite right.” He shrugged and grinned at her. “We can stay here for a little bit. I have an idea.” He went back to the door and locked it.

“Is this your car?” Danielle asked the approaching person, pointing toward the illegally parked vehicle with her pen. She briefly glanced up from her scribbling to assess the suspect. Sure, it was a cruel move to be giving out parking tickets on a holiday about love, but she had to pay her bills, after all. And perhaps she was a little bitter about not being able to spend the holiday with her fiancée.

Theo snorted. “I wish. I don’t have a car, but I’d love to have one. Even with the ticket you’re so thirsty to hand out. Do you get, like, a bonus if you hit a certain amount of people, or do you just like ruining somebody’s day?”
