Chelsea FC 2004/2005
The Blues won the Premiership title, taking it by a comfortable 12 points over second-place Arsenal. After their first full season under Jose Mourinho.
Featuring players like Peter Cech at the height of his powers, defenders John Terry, Glen Johnson, Ricardo Carvalho and William Gallas; midfielders like Joe Cole, Damien Duff, Arjen Robben and a strong Claude Makelele; and forwards like Didier Drogba and a dangerous Eiour Guojohnsen, this Chelsea side remains the maybe the strongest in recent times when every player could reach the peak of their play, winning the Premiership, the Carling Cup and advancing to the semifinals of the Champion's League.

Arsenal, 1930s
The dominant force in English football in the 1930s was undoubtedly the Gunners. Led by managers Herbert Chapman, Joe Shaw and George Allison, Arsenal dominated the English football landscape, winning the FA Cup in 1930 and 1938 and the league title in 1931-32, 1932-33, 1933-34, 1934-35 and 1936-37.
The Gunners were led by stars Alex James and Cliff Bastin, a pair of players lured to Highbury by the promise of higher wages.

The 1993-94 Manchester United team won their first league title since 1967 and won the first double in club history, winning the Premiership and the FA Cup.
With midfielders Ryan Giggs, Paul Ince, Andrei Kanchelski and Lee Sharpe, forwards Eric Cantona and Mark Hughes, defensive midfielder Roy Keane and golkeeper Peter Schmeichel, this Manchester United team might have been one of the most successful in history.

One of the forgotten teams of the late 1970s and early 1980s, the HSV was the dominant force in the Bundesliga from 1976-1983 and won the European Cup (the predecessor of the Champion's League) title in 1983. Felix Magath was one of the big stars in that team.

This reaction is just great. Drogba was never lucky enough to win the Africa Cup of Nations by himself but it seems he´s very very happy his nation could finally win it.

The Valley used to attract massive crowds - and this fine picture of a match between Charlton and Blackburn in 1958 gives us some idea of how packed terraces at the south London ground used to be.

I can't believe there are more than a handful of you reading this that haven't heard of the 'White Horse' Cup final - the first match played at Wembley, the 1923 FA Cup final between Bolton and West Ham, which was memorable for the chaotic scenes beforehand and the enormous crowds that poured into the stadium. The image of PC George Scorey on his white horse 'Billy' is one of the truly great FA Cup images.

Do you get the feeling this picture was taken in the days before tribalism in the game? This delightful snap shows Sheffield United supporters in London before the 1936 FA Cup final against Arsenal - more than 93,000 watched at Wembley as the Gunners won 1-0.

This picture was only taken 55 years ago; here you can see a section of the crowd at Wembley for the 1960 FA Cup final between Wolves and Blackburn. Many of the gentlemen look as if they are dressed for cricket at Lord's with their jackets, shirts and ties.
