“Of course, sir.” Theodore responded instinctively. “I always do. They don’t usually do much anyway. too scared, I think. They can’t touch me, and it makes them angry. But like I said, it’s fine. They’re always like that anyway.” And they always had been, as far as he remembered. But they never touched him, so it was fine! Right? “Plus, it’s not like I can overpower them.” He added softly. “I’m half the size of most of them. And it’d make Targent look bad if I stooped to their level, even if only from inside. I’m your son and I’m going to act the part.”

There are so many things that I wish I could tell you without fear of making your brain implode. Alas, I am far too committed to the noble cause of keeping the timelines intact.

“I’m sheltered, not stupid. Unlike you.” He says - although in a language that is most definitely not english. Then, he continues, though not in the mystery language he’d just used.

“I know enough to know I’m the only Theodore I’ve met that stayed with dad. But he’s nice and he cares about me. I don’t need to know how other timelines went because they aren’t mine. Just because your dad was mean doesn’t mean mine is too. I’m not going to abandon him just because some stranger told me he had a bad childhood.”
