Planting the Seeds of Discourse
Get ready, debaters! The Ateneo Debate Congress (ADC) will be hosting a local rookie tournament that aims to promote stronger discourse on highly debated environmental issues, foster a more constructive debate community, and apply environmental principles into practice.
The local competition will be held at Ateneo de Zambonga University Fr. Eusebio Salvador, SJ Campus in partnership with US Department of State, Northern Illinois University (NIU), Philippine Youth Leadership Program (PYLP), Social Networking Administration Panel (SNAP), and Ateneo Design Society (ADS).

AdZU prepares MOA for G12 Work Immersion
Businessmen and government agency officials meet for the preparation of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of the Work Immersion Program for Grade 12 students at Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall (CDCH) on August 25.
“The Work Immersion Program is a requirement of the K-12
Curriculum, specifically all students under Grade 12. They are required to enrol in this subject and have an 80-hour exposure to the actual workplace,” Ms. Cellyn Verallo, Immersion Coordinator, explained. According to her, the immersion program aims to expose the students to an actual workplace.
The following are the companies, government agencies, and non-government organizations that attended the MOA preparation are:
Freedom Printers, Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory, National Telecommunications Commission 9 (NTC - 9), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Katilingban sa Kalambuan, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA), People’s Microfinance Cooperative, Micro-Entrepreneurs Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MEMPCO), Aurora Integrated Multipurpose Cooperative (AIMCOOP), Gold Star Seafood, City Veterinary Office, Metro Stonerich, and Environmental Management Bureau.

SHS holds Miting de Avance
Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School (AdZU SHS) held its annual Miting de Avance in the Multi-Purpose Covered Court (MPCC) of the campus on September 15.
The event serves as an avenue for election candidates to present their platforms and plans to the entire student body.

Get your pencils ready, Grade 12 Pioneers! The Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) for Ateneo de Manila University is fast approaching!
The nearest ACET provincial testing center is located here in Zamboanga City, at our very own basic education campus, the FWHK SJ Campus in Tumaga. Schedule is this Saturday, September 23, 7:30AM-12:30PM.
Don't forget to bring your exam permit, 2 sharpened medium lead pencils, ballpens, and snacks. Come on time. Best of luck, ACET takers!

Fr. Jose T. Bacatan, SJ library invites the academic community to visit the 23rd Library Display of New Acquisitions on September 18-22, 2017 at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm.
The library will be displaying about 689 titles of books. After the display, these materials will be ready to use.

Oculus, LLA bag awards in Nat'l Media Confab
The Oculus Publications and La Liga Atenista (LLA) won several awards in the 11th School Press Advisers Movement Incorporated (SPAM Inc.) National Media Conference held at La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel from September 13 to 15.
Along with individual and group competitions, this year's SPAM also had its 5th Training for School Advisers, 8th Pambansang Pautakang Pampahayagan, and 5th I-Documento.
SPAM Inc. is a national orgnaization of campus advisers from all education units. Its aim is to unite campus journalism educators in the Philippines through training sessions, seminars, competitions.
