I'm damn sure it's her left leg, think of how Jonathan cuts it open... I don't understand that mistake, I don't understand it! Like that S3 poster with El bleeding out of the wrong side of her nose🤦🏼‍♀️
could it maybe be a trick photography thing? i don’t know shit about how cameras work but ya know how some cameras flip left and right? maybe either the camera the pap was using or the cameras they’re filming with do that??? or smth like that i don’t know ?? it would be extremely unlike them to make that mistake given how meticulous the makeup department is with everything so i do doubt it’s a mistake but still as long as we’re assuming that’s el which i do think it is idk what the deal could be

I think El has a nightmare that she's back in the lab or she actually goes back to the lab to try to get her powers back...
ugh i’m concerned that it has smth to do with the pennhurst plotline bc i don’t even have a clue how she would fit in there..... mostly in a very literal sense since pennhurst is only a county over from hawkins and all the latest theories have el and the byers in california. but yeah if she’s there with the peter ballard character (which i mean ofc doesn’t necessarily mean they’re filming Together but just seeing them together and seeing how their costumes could potentially fit for the same scene has me Hm) but yeah i’m rambling idk what i’m saying but i don’t have a clue where el could fit into the pennhurst plotline unless she’s going undercover or smth in which case .... why and how would that happen

So, her scar in that picture was on the wrong leg, bc El's scar is definitely on her LEFT leg!
are you sure?? bc i thought that at first too but then i was doubting myself and i’ve been a bit too scared to check lmao dhsksbsj i was thinking of the scene when they’re in bradley’s and mike’s putting pressure on her leg and it was on the side near the camera i thought aka the left side but then i was like eh maybe her left leg was just crossed and not visible
idk maybe it’s just a trick of light but it really does look like there’s a scar there so why WOULD there be one if it’s not that scar .... i mean my thoughts are either it’s a mistake and they fucked up which leg it is, or it’s not actually el but we all from what i’ve seemed seem p confident it’s her

so you’re telling me
millie is on set in a hospital gown
and they covered her face so we couldn’t know whether it’s a flashback or not
but on her leg you can see the scar from where the mind flayer hurt her
so basically
you’re telling me
that el hopper, after 2+ years of escaping the lab, and after losing her father, and her powers, and her home, and nearly everything important to her that she’s gained in those last 2 years.....
..... is going to be freaking institutionalized again, either in the lab or pennhurst or some other form
did season 3 not make me cry enough? i thought this season was supposed to put together the pieces of my heart that the s3 finale shattered

My theory: Brenner defected. We know he's ruthlessly ambitious, completely amoral, and he had his work taken away from him right as he made an earth-shattering discovery, so it would make sense that he defected to the Soviets, knowing they would fund his research without concern for the human cost. As for the Keys, I'm guessing they were originally meant to shoot down American ICBMs (like Reagan's "Star Wars" mentioned in S1), but were then they were repurposed to try to open a Gate. (continued)
(continued) Plus we know the Russians knew about Demogorgons, seeing as they had a cage ready, but seemingly no idea about the Mindflayer, which means if they had an informant, they were there in November '83, but were gone by November '84.
—————————————————————
Yes!!! Ugh I don’t wanna say that I hope Brenner is with the Russians but like...... I do rlly hope he’s with the Russians!! He’s gotta come back somehow and idk man I don’t have many different ideas and having him be reintroduced as this new Russian scientist would be such a fun reveal and it would answer so many questions.
Also, like, I kinda feel like they need to have some more native English-speaking characters in the Russian plotline? Bc Hop doesn’t speak Russian. And while I’m sure the guards and stuff who speak to him will use English, I really doubt all the dialogue that needs to be understood by Hop would be spoken directly to him? Like I’m sure there’s gonna be parts where he’s eavesdropping on some Russian scientists and stuff like that, and in that case they would probably be speaking Russian which Hop would not understand, and if they spoke English for no reason it would be awkward? They need another character who Only speaks English so they have a reason to force native-Russian speakers to speak English so that Hop can also understand. Idk I’m prob not making sense ignore me! And I’m wording this wrong in saying that they “need” to have this because that’s certainly not true and there’s billions of ways they can work around the language barrier, I guess a better way of wording myself is that if they had someone on the Russian side who solely speaks English, that would make it a lot easier to navigate the language barrier
Also Ive never heard your idea before about the keys being repurposed weapons but i DEFINITELY love that!!!

What was the most emotional scene in the show for you?
Man does any other scene even come close to how emotionally raw the season 3 epilogue leaves me feeling? Nooope
But some runner-ups would be: End of 1x03 when they find Will’s body, Hopper resuscitating Will at the end of season 1 combined with flashbacks of Sara dying (a scene that honestly did not hit as hard until recently I think in the past I was too emotional over the Goodbye Mike scene to get upset during the resuscitating Will scene, but now that so many years have gone by and Goodbye Mike isn’t really all that sad anymore, seeing Joyce and Hopper crying during that scene HITS sm more now than it did 4 years ago for me), the scene when El is at Kali’s and she’s thinking back to old memories then looks for Mike & Hopper in the void, Hop apologizing to El over the radio in s2, Robin’s coming out scene, the scene of Nancy and Karen in s3, EL’S REACTION TO HOP NOT COMING OUT OF THE MALL (!!!!), aaaaand to throw in a couple happy-emotional moments, the scene of the rest of the party pranking Dustin at the beginning of s3 & blank makes you crazy are some happy-emotional faves

Remember pregNancy? "She's crying in a bathroom, what could that possibly mean?!"
Remember PregNancy? How could I forget the scene where Nancy graphically gave birth in the mall? And Jonathan cut the umbilical cord with the same knife that had been inside El’s leg? And Steve wrapped his newborn daughter in a signature Scoops Ahoy© beach towel, now for sale for $19.99 at Target? Best scene in the show. I will say, though, seeing Mike faint while watching Nancy in labor was disappointing. I would have liked him to meet his baby niece before she was flayed

How do you think the Soviets went undetected in Hawkins so long? We know they started to plan to move their operations to Hawkins at least in the summer of '84 (or a bit later), so if they started that before December, they would've had to be extremely cautious so Hawkins Lab didn't pick up on what they were doing. I don't know how long it takes to build a mall+base, even with a corrupt mayor on your side, so do you think it's possible they were there earlier than that, as Murray claimed in s2?
I’m not sure exactly when their plan started, but I would honestly guess that it was before the events of season 1, or right around then. I mean just look at the difference in technology and understanding of the Upside Down. A year after the gate had opened in America, American scientists were still scratching their heads and didn’t understand anything except that it could be killed with fire. Seven months after the gate had opened in America, the Russians already had a prototype machine to open the gate themselves. The Russians clearly had a much deeper understanding of the Upside Down than the Americans, and the Americans had the advantage of having access to it. So honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Russians actually knew about the Upside Down before the events of season 1, but then struggled with figuring out how to open it for so long. If not before s1, then I think they learned right around the same time as the events of season 1. Maybe there was a mole in the American government, maybe the the Russians were able to track the change in energy from El opening the gate, maybe Brenner ran off to them, idk, but I think November-December 1983 is the absolute latest their plan to open the gate could have started, and it’s very likely it was even earlier.
As for actually moving in to Hawkins, I bet that happened right around the end of 1984. In November 1984, the lab was in shambles and about to be shut down, which means they wouldn’t be monitoring things as closely. Mayor Kline would be desperate for some good press, and would definitely have jumped at the opportunity for a new mall in town. And the general public’s attention would be diverted to the alleged chemical leak. It would have been the perfect time for the Russians to move in. So yeah I think late 1984 is when they started coming.
However, there is an interesting question I think where even though they probably didn’t come to Hawkins until after the events of s2, were their plans to come to Hawkins existing pre-s2? Alexei said that they decided on Hawkins because the gate had been opened there before, which subtly implies that the Russians didn’t decide to come to Hawkins until after Eleven closed the gate, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were already considering it beforehand anyway. Maybe even before the events of s2 the Russians started making some initial plans (like some of the farmland purchases) just in case they decided going to Hawkins was their next course of action

wait, there's a chance nancy and robin could be teamed up??? omg how do we know
they were spotted filming together a while ago! they’re filming at berry college as the set for pennhurst (the mental hospital lucas mentioned in s1 ep2 that he thought el had come from)! I can’t find a pic of maya there, so I don’t know if there was one and I forgot to save it, or if it was just the person who took the photo who said Maya was also there, but here’s a shot of Natalia on set there! Idk who that is right next to her, but I believe thats Tim Ives on the left

Brenner: *talks to Karen*/Karen's internal monologue: "He gave me the heebie-jeebies. He had nothing else to give"
I love that Karen’s reaction to everything in s1 was to just Check Out emotionally as opposed to like, idk, start keeping a closer eye on her kids, since one of them was allegedly harboring a Russian spy

My top 3 Murray scenarios for s4: 1. he's teamed up with Joyce (and later Hopper) again, 2. he gets stuck with the kids, who promptly drive him crazy, 3. he somehow ends up working with Owens and neither of them is happy about it
Oh man, I hadn’t even considered putting him with Owens LMAO, but god that would be great. Honestly Murray is in a really good place as a character where like they genuinely can just pair him with anyone or add him into any plotline and he’d be fine I feel. They have a LOT of flexibility with him so I’m very excited to see how they utilize it..... my personal top groupings would have to be
1. Murray and Joyce
2. Murray and El (or maybe Murray + Byers clan should all be grouped into one, idk)
3. Murray has a lead that Hop’s in Kamchatka and goes to investigate, ends up captured himself, and we get Murray + Hopper in prison
4. Murray and Erica (Partially bc Erica is kinda the opposite of Murray, where I feel like she has very little flexibility in where she can go. She can stick with Scoops Troop again, but idk I’m hoping that grouping gets broken up in s4 because I want to see all 4 of them interacting with different people for a change. But other than Scoops Troop or with Lucas, I really don’t know where she can easily go, but somehow seeing her with Murray I feel could be VERY entertaining)
5. From what VERY little info we have so far, it seems like there’s a chance Nancy and Robin could be teamed up, so them with Murray could be Something

How do you think Hopper will get back to the US? Like he can’t just get onto a plane and go?? Do you think he’ll go through the upside down or some other way???
I don’t know?? I feel like it’s gotta be the same way the Russians escaped at the end of s3, but I don’t have a clue for that. I mean they definitely didn’t just escape their lab then board some planes to Russia, they must have had some escape path ready, but at the same time I kinda doubt it was via the Upside Down just because....... how if the gate was closed? Also they had just opened the gate a few days prior and clearly were there for some time already so they couldn’t have been reliant on it? Maybe they have another gate open in Russia, and they were somehow able to use that to get to and from Hawkins even without the Hawkins gate being open yet? But that wouldn’t make sense bc they were only in Hawkins because they couldn’t open one in Russia? Idk I’m sure they have an explanation for it, and I do think however they escaped is gonna be the same way Hopper comes back. Plus, a gate is open SOMEWHERE. The Russians have a living Demogorgon, and unless the show wants to go back on all of the science of the Upside Down they’ve given us the last two seasons (which honestly, they could do, bc they have been adamant in s2 and s3 that “brain dies, body dies” is just their theory) then the gate must be open or else the Demogorgon would be dead. That could also be another reason they had for making El and the Byers move. I mean, without El and Will in Hawkins, the gate could be open for god knows how long without anyone noticing. And without Hopper there as chief, then any suspicious incidents reported to the police won’t make it back to the main characters at all. I think that’s a really interesting route the show could take for s4, where maybe the gate has been open and bad stuff has been happening for weeks or even months maybe without anyone knowing. That could also give it time for the gate to get much much bigger and spread a lot, to a point where maybe El can’t even close it easily like she did before. If they chose to go that route, I’d also be interested in how they do inevitably realize it’s open again. Maybe another missing person, which could be a sweet callback to s1? Idk! I’m rambling and have gotten completely off topic! But yes I can’t wait to see how the Russians escaped and how Hopper will too, and any of the effects of that stuff. But in the meantime I’m just gonna hold onto fluffy hc’s of the party busting him out and then Hopper’s gotta babysit the six of them on the like 10+ hour plane ride :)

I'm on a rewatch, and I've been trying to think of how the government could've explained to the public what happened at the school at the end of season 1. Because obviously, you've got EMTs and the fire department there (who must've had questions themselves), a bunch of body bags lying about, all in the middle of the night, so probably you had people poking around, and then the school was probably shut down for a time. Rumours must've been flying around town!
I know right???? In the past I always thought they would have said there was a fire, but then that was their cover-up in season 3 and I doubt they would have done the same excuse as they had already done two years ago? Unless they were trying to capitalize off the fear people had, like a “This already happened, so people are on edge that it’ll happen again” sorta thing. And you’re right school must have been closed? This happened on a Saturday night so they would have only had one day to deal with it..... the most glaring things I’m thinking of are the big burn on the blackboard in Mr Clarke’s room, and the portal that El & Demogorgon went through? I mean, the portal could have closed pretty quickly, like the one in the tree Nancy went through, but I would think the lab would wanna run some tests afterwards on it. Also, there’s probably other damage the Demo did to the building, plus they’re gonna have to thoroughly sweep the building to make sure there’s no blood or bullets or anything still around before they let people in. And look for signs of El. So yeah school must have been closed for a couple days at least, and I have no idea what kinda excuse they could have given?
It also makes me wonder how they covered up the deaths. Brenner said 6 people had been taken, so in order I believe that’s the elevator scientist, Will, Barb, Shepard, and then the two guys who went hunting whose names are escaping me right now? We know they staged it so Barb had run away, and I’m sure the two scientists had NDAs and stuff in place already if they died on the job, but I’m really curious to know what they said about the hunters?

Seriously, what's up with Ted telling his coworkers that he had a "Russian" girl hiding in his house? Like, how did that even come up? "Honey, you'll never guess what Ted at work told me" "what, did he invent a new way of preparing chicken?"
And we know he went back on it LMAO so how did this even go? I mean, we also don’t even know exactly what his job is too. We know he works sales and makes 6 figures (which would be like 250,000+ today) so like he MUST have some sort of management position right? So did this go down like the episode of The Office where Michael wants to bond with the office so he tells everyone about Stanley’s affair then tries to backtrack on it LMAO? Like did Ted think telling this story would make people see him as something other than that boring manager, but then he instantly remembered this was supposed to be confidential
