this book came to mind when i was reading yj 2019, because if there's one thing that's consistent about kon, it's his steadfast dedication to trying to live up to what he believes is the ideal superman. he says himself earlier that superman can't just solve everyone's problems at the drop of a hat because the people don't want him making those choices for them. superman being framed as the safety-net of the people versus the 'fix-it' for any and every problem helps, in context, to frame what 'supermanning' entails, but when kon has to reckon with a problem he really can't fix by just saving a jumper..... he says whatever's gonna make the girl step away from the ledge, even tho everyone else knows that it's not what KON wants.

did kon WANT to marry lophi? did he wanna be a father to her baby? did he really want the traditional masculine role of husband and provider? we know the answer is no. we know because between 1996 and 2019, the only consistent thing about kon is he doesn't know how to make HIMSELF happy, but he'll go ahead and save a girl's life. he'll marry her to protect himself in the short-term, but not really look for a way out, and just go ahead and play husband and father because that's what superman would do.

except it's not what superman would do, because we know 'superman' itself has long since evolved into an Ideal for clark, which kon still struggles to understand. one of my favorite things to think about when looking at kon's trajectory throughout the years.

Now I want Krypto to be like this because I always liked N52 Krypto bigness and lengthy fur... But since everything in that era had to be edgy he often didn't look like a friendly dog as I think he should

So I thought he should be like a white giant alaskan malamute or an anormally big samoyed, that way he would be big, fluffy, wolf-like and still cute and friendly! But a lot of people like labrador Krypto! That's how he looked for most of his publication history, I think

So the great pyrenee joins the best of both worlds! He is basically a gigantic white golden retriever, bigger than any other dog I mentioned, fluffy and looks enough like a labrador

great pyrenees are so fucking awesome theyre just big. if i didnt think that owning one was a supremely bad idea for me in particular id get one. i just think itd become my boss or something. im too lazy for a working breed truly
