You’re the only reason why people are greeting me today. I say ‘thank you’ but it doesn’t feel right. I feel like I don’t deserve it. At least not yet. I don’t think I’ve been good enough to be everything a father should be. I can only make the excuse that I wasn’t ready or that I wasn’t prepared so many times. I know I’m still rubbish and I’m not decent enough. At least not yet. I’ll keep on trying and I’ll learn everyday. So one day you’ll look back and think “my daddy was great”. So I’ll carry you and read you stories every night, until you don’t ask for them anymore. I’ll deserve that name. Attitude of gratitude for the letters, gifts, tokens, food, presence, words, kindness, love, wisdom, and support that I’ve received in the past weeks for my birth month. Some people would equate happiness or elation as the complete opposite of depression, just like some people would equate love as the opposite of hate. As the Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel has said, indifference is the opposite of love, in that vein I believe that the opposite of depression is hope and faith. Hope that not everything is in vain. Faith that you make a difference. I can count on the fingers of my right hand the number of people who are aware that I too suffer from this. Granted it’s not the crippling one, because I get up in bed knowing I have to do something for the day. I know my life is not just my own. I live for the people in my life who need me, and for the random people who need a quick picker upper through a song. I might not have touched as much lives as other people but I try my best. I used to look for happiness because I thought it would make me feel better, I looked for happiness in my friends, the women I’ve dated, my family, and the people I bring smiles too. I’ve realised for a while that I shouldn’t look for it from other people, it has to come from me. To be able to give myself and other people hope, I have to be happy on my own and share it with others. Do other people make me happy? Obviously, it’s a resounding yes, but that only complements the happiness I have. I’m also aware that this does not work for everyone, not everyone does something they love or are passionate about, I know, I understand, but it shouldn’t stop you from hoping. Hoping that someday you’ll find it, or that someday you’ll have time for it, because I know some people have found theirs but feel they don’t have time to pursue their passion. It’ll come, sooner or later, for now have hope. Because hope keeps you moving, hope makes you get out of bed, hope keeps you trying, hope keeps you trusting, hope keeps you loving, and I hope in my heart of hearts it keeps you living.

My little buddy Rian came up to me last night and asked me "Kuya Prince why are you sitting down?", if you know me this might actually be the first time in 3 years that I did this. I just smiled and said "I'm just feeling a little under the weather.", I had a splitting headache last night and was only playing guitar for more than half the time because talking made it hurt worse. This is something I could've stopped or avoided doing. Busking isn't my job, this is something that I do in my spare time. I could've just went home. I could have just not played at all but when you love something you do it regardless of the pain it causes you. I hope you find something in your life that you are passionate about. Something that makes you disregard all the discomforts it may entail. I may not be blessed in a lot of other ways but the universe gave me music and I'll spend all my life trying to give it back. 🌊❤️ (at Bonifacio High Street)

People don't believe me whenever I say that I keep every meaningful bit of stuff they send my way. This specific one is from January 2014. It means a lot to me and I've met and bonded with people over their messages. I've kept receipts, tissues, cards, anything with writing on it that's more than a song title request. Sending my gratitude to people who spend a bit of time making my busking a little more special. Makes me realize it's all worth it. That being said I'll be playing tonight and tomorrow, next to CK.
