Honestly aging Tumblr demographic blah blah blah yadda yadda but goddamn I love stories about Adults. I haven't been 15 in a decade I simply cannae care about coming of age stories. In fact I think stories specifically about exploring and understand one's self are significantly more interesting when they're about people in their 30s or 40s or 80s tbh. The great thing is that I can (and do) adore John/Rose as a wonderful canon ship where they're a great couple in so many ways and maybe it's weird that the end of "You Should Know Me Better" makes me cry but it does because they love each other so much even if they can't bring themselves to say it directly. However, I also hold that Anna has a huge crush on Rose and if she weren't so dismayed/distracted by worrying about Anna and John being in love with each other Rose would have 100% reciprocated the crush and the two of them could have been Science Girlfriends together, and I can also picture when John mentions how hard Samuel has been working to get the Brick Satellite completed that he's holding Samuel's hands gently in his own and looking at them with such care and concern and Samuel just looks at John and thinks "...I REALLY get what Rose sees in him" and all of these things can be true at once and it's awesome.

When I say “school should be disability accessible”, I don’t just mean we need handicap rails and EAs. Kids should be able to miss a day without failing out of school. You shouldn’t be dismissed from clubs because your attendance record is “spotty” (true story). I once missed an entire week of school because of a terrible, unending migraine. I was expected to keep up with my studies despite the blinding pain that came with working on my computer. When I heard my teachers say that you couldn’t miss exams, I asked what I would have to do to be excused from them. Their response? “Either get a doctor’s note an hour before the exam or death of an immediate family member.”

I cannot express how rigid this expectation was. First of all, with my condition, I wouldn’t have enough warning about my sickness to go to the doctor and request a note. For many people, this is exceptionally difficult, especially with the current shortage of medical professionals. Next, it ignores the fact that my schedule may not line with theirs because of my medical needs. Once, I had to visit a hospital a province away (which I was on the waiting list of for over a year) on the same day as an exam. I begged my mother not to take me because I was so nervous that I would be marked as an automatic fail. I was lucky enough to make it work, but that’s only because of my spectacular support system consisting of family members and wonderful doctors.

Disabilities aren’t always about needing a bus that can accommodate wheelchairs. It’s already difficult enough for many of us to maintain school attendance without the harsh punishments involved for skipping a day. We need to be able to miss school without being punished. Only than can you claim that the school is “accessible”

One thing DS9 does extremely well is showing how close the average person is to being a defector. It's not just Gul Dukat waffling over his shit. It's a Vorta lamenting that his species wasn't given a sense of aesthetics by The Founders. It's a Gem Hadar soldier ending a fight before he kills his opponent. And million other little examples. It shows extremely well how the people on any side of a conflict are people and if they just pushed a little more at their doubts how different they would see the world.

And it goes the other way as well. Showing how close average people are to crossing to the wrong side of history. Kira realizing she's making excuses for The Dominion occupation. Odo struggling with where his loyalties lie and his own actions while working for an occupying force. Worf joining the morality police briefly on Riza. And so many more examples.

Such a huge part of why this show has lasting power is that's it's not idealist in the way it treats it's characters actions even though it remains committed to Star Trek optimism.

underrated npmd digital ticket moment: max's beer can that accidentally got left on stage for 10 whole minutes (will was supposed to throw it into the pit where the band was) and they had to improvise how to get it off stage so joey just punctuated his "i'm going to the big game! fuck yeah!" by running over and kicking it after it sort of teleported from the waylon place to the school

the fact that we now know charles is the head of ccrp heavily suggests that otho was the direct result of some kind of ccrp experiment. whether this experiment involved pokey himself is an interesting potential area of debate. it is likely that charles knows about the lords in black and was probably intentionally trying to harness their power, as he has in other ways. this brings a really interesting element into yellow jacket in that the hatchetfield roller-rama could also just be a huge ccrp experiment as well as a money-making device for the company. charles is really pulling a lot of strings here and it's not entirely clear which they are.

also, it is known that the technical department is a cover and is really just a group of people being experimented on by ccrp. this means that charles, being the head of the company, is the one who could have signed off on/proposed the ideas of creating a time warp in ted's office using tinky's power (which I believe is canon, but someone correct me if I am incorrect) and creating clones of paul to put on the moon. we also now know that he is directly contributing to experimentation on bill using bottle imps.

in conclusion, the kids at the roller-rama and the members of the ccrp technical department deserve to get the chance to beat up charles coven
