My Recovery Update
I had another physical therapy session today. My therapist noted that my left knee is still sore but less so than last time. I’m happy to report that I can now bend my knee enough to pedal in full circles on the bike, a definite improvement! Therapy continues every week and the brace is still in locked mode when walking. Slowly but surely, I am getting closer to the end of the road to recovery. 🙏

REVIEW: Golden Corral in Concord, CA
Spaghetti, Fried Chicken, Meatloaf, Corn, & Mashed Potatoes w/ Country Gravy.
It’s weird how the register and the dinks station were literally right next to the entrance. It created more traffic right by the door. To think that the drink station will have all their drinks their, but some of the juices were separated and located at the salad bar. Buckets of dirty dishes were left on clean,…

Great Non-fiction Reads
Ronald Takaki is an Ethnic Studies professor in UC Berkeley in California & is an author of 6 books. My favorite books by him is this and Strangers from a Different Shore.
Finally, my very own copy of this awesome book. I bought it used, but I couldn’t care less. I was introduced to Ronald Takaki’s books when I was a junior in high school, thanks to my awesome AP History teacher, Mr. Anker,…

Disability Got Me Binging
Since I currently can’t do much…
Crocheting like granny on steroids? You betcha! Binge-watching and reading all day, every day? Check! My current life temporarily includes just my bed, tv, tablets/phone, and my crafts supplies. This is what happens when my doctors put me on disability with plenty of restrictions.
Thank goodness for ebooks and digital coloring pages that are available and…

Sky or Heavenly
What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?
CELINE
My given middle name of Celine comes from French and Latin origins meaning “heavenly.”. I also read online that my name also roots from the Greek word “Selini,” which means “moon.”
Why the name is picked out, I am not quite sure yet. Thinking about it, Celine does go well with my first name of Mikaella. In…

I'm Thankful for Technology
Thank you for Technology
Advancements on technology are neverending. For the most part, I am thankful for that. Many of these advancements have made our lives a lot easier. It really has and it’s just getting started.
I am thankful for much of technology for what it has done to me and my everyday life. For sure, many people may feel the same about it.
Through all the technology we have…

Recovery from MPFL Reconstruction
What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?
Back in early December 2023, I was rushed to the emergency room via ambulance due to Patella Dislocation. It was by far the worst I have ever had because my kneecap has gone out of place multiple times before but it automatically goes back in place. Not that time.
The pain was excruciating and the injury was obvious. Spending…

We Miss Hawaii!
It has been over a year since we were last in Hawaii for my sister’s wedding. For the most part, we enjoyed our week-long stay in this beautiful place. It was like paradise for us. Especially for me and my only daughter. The ambience of the place was oh-so welcoming that it made us forget much of our worries. Though it has only been a little over a year, we have been hoping to be able to go back…

Definitely Oahu
If you won two free plane tickets, where would you go?
Waikiki Beach 🏖️
If I won two plane tickets, I would go to Oahu in Hawaii with my most favorite person in the world, my daughter. We both fell in love with the island and miss the place so much. We can’t wait to go back!

Gadgets & Coffee
What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?
I wake up every morning drinking at least a cup of coffee. My gadgets are my daily use of luxury and are a great part of my everyday life. I bring them with me everywhere I go. They have multiple uses for my everyday life. Communication and convenience are the two main reasons. My phone and tablet are how I get in touch with people and how I stay…
