y’all know that trope where two people have been separated/apart and when they finally see each other they’re practically clinging to each other and you can practically feel the happiness and relief radiating off of them? that’s my crack
I love characters who act selfishly to protect the people they love. Absolutely will 1000% hit that trope like a line of coke. I have no moral qualms about this.
Thinking about how Lexa said to a Clarke “you just care about him more” and then Josephine said to Bellamy “you just care about her more” and jfc it’s like they purposely dangled them in front of us for seven years knowing there’d be nothing to come of it
Clarke changing her mind and asking Bellamy to go to the mountain after Lexa tells her “love is weakness”, and explicitly telling him she is changing her mind because she was “being weak” does more for early bellarke than anything else.
Whatever J.Roth might wanna tell us, Bellarke was a slow burn romance in the making that was snuffed out for bullshit reasons.
there’s so much pathologizing over why enemies to lovers is a popular trope (something something the normalization of abuse something something) when the simplest and less moronic answer is that narratives thrive on irony and reversals, and there’s no greater irony than characters going from hating each other’s guts to loving each other unconditionally. raw thesis-antithesis-synthesis.
