Susie knew Angelica was going to have a lot to say about all the drama that was going on around them. As always, Susie was keeping herself busy unless someone reached out to her because she knew she could only do and say so much. She had her own opinions about it all and she had to admit being able to talk about it with someone who wasn’t as personally scathed was important. It wasn’t like her siblings were going to understand. As they sat together and munched on a light lunch she chuckled. Angelica always had a colorful way with saying things, and even though she could be a little mean, it was still a little funny. “I’m for sure team Lil. I mean, I haven’t heard Phil’s side much so I feel a little bad for picking sides but....it’s just weird. I mean, the two have known each other for the longest time but it always felt more like a...sibling connection.” She sighed. “Hey, be nice Angelica. Kimi is...she’s probably just super confused. I at least hope that is the case.”

Angelica always made sure to take a longer lunch if she was going out to meet Susie, actually wanting to enjoy her time rather than rush through it. Especially now when they had so much to dish on. She felt like she hadn’t been able to talk to anyone about what was going on. Of course Lil had stopped by more lately and she’d been giving Chuckie shit for it since she found out but this was different. Talking to her best friend about drama was unmatched. She took a bite of her salad before looking over at her friend. “What do you think though? I’m team Lil here, Phil is like the human version of a Hot Pocket anyway,” the girl said scrunching her face for a second before continuing to chew. “Also like ew, right? Kimi what the fuck?” A laugh couldn’t help but pop out a little before she tried to stop it by putting her hand to her mouth.

Susie normally tried to keep herself composed and friendly around Berlioz. She felt bad for how things ended and she really tried to not let it ruin the relationship she had with Berli now even though she wondered what that was half the time. She liked him a lot, but she had thought that it wasn’t supposed to be. A large part of that was because of her inability to let go and enjoy things and a part of that was because she had been younger and impulsive (in her own way) when she dated him. The guy he was now was so different from who she knew that she wondered how he still saw right through her despite the years they both had to grow. Susie likes to think she has grown, but maybe she was the one who hadn’t. She let alcohol ask that pressing question and now she was tipsy and insecure about her answer to his. A sad smile graced her lips and she tried to look away, but she had been caught by his eyes the moment he had started talking and there was no looking away now. “I...No. I wish I could. Maybe I could if I actually let myself for once...I don’t know. We are different people now. I don’t...you look so down, Berli. I don’t...I don’t think you looked this sad when we dated and I...If I had anything to do with that, I am sorry. I don’t want to...I never wanted to be the reason you’re sad.”

susie had only started putting candy by the cash register for dil. they really didn’t get a lot of kids into the store and susie was content with putting the candy in the back room for herself when she was really stressing, but then dil asked for it almost every time he visited her and she hadn’t had the heart to not have it ready for him. at his question though, she raised her eyebrow at him. she knew he was probably just as stressed by their friend group right now as she was but she was not the one to get picky with. “nope. eat up what we got, pickles.” she gave him a small smile so he knew she was mostly joking. “you ate out the blue ones last time you visited me. speaking of, what can i help you with?”

after everything that had happened in the group with kimi and phil, dil had found himself hanging around the record store where susie had worked more and more. she had a grounded quality to her that they really appreciated, now more than ever, unsure where they stood once shit hit the fan, she was sweet and patient with them, plus sometimes the record store had candy in a bowl at the register which was just another added bonus. dil was currently digging through said candy bowl as his friend fiddled about in the counter, and he pouted as he came up short in his search. “you know if you guys have any blue ones in the back?” he asks, holding up the suckers, despite pocketing a few in his pockets anyway.

Susie did not go out to clubs often. She didn’t have the time and she honestly was not a fan of the smell. Still, she had agreed to go on some blind date and she figured she could work that in her schedule as her much needed break. With everything going on with her friends she needed some Susie time and even though she felt like she was always taking Susie time, she really wasn’t. She was working and taking care of her parents and trying to map out her future so this was a little off course, but needed. Of course the supposed date never showed up and she spent most of her night drinking water and trying to be patient, but after an hour and half she gave up. As she was heading out she ran right into Berlioz and couldn’t help but smile a little bit. He was her music buddy and he was a really nice guy to have in her life. “I was just leaving. I was here for a date but they totally bailed on me. Of course, they were just so intimidated by my good looks.” She laughed, obviously joking. “I am driving. My mom’s car because I’m super lame like that. If you wanna join me, you can. I don’t mind that at all! Did you have a good night? I can’t believe I’m only spotting you now!”

Now that the holidays were over and done with Berlioz could just take a breather and go back to his normal habits. There wasn’t much to do and he was growing restless at home so he decided to go out and see what the night brought him. Besides, he was supposed to be meeting someone later but could just tell them to meet him elsewhere. He changed into some better clothes and sprayed cologne before grabbing his things and heading out. Once he arrived at the club he had a few drinks and mostly kept to himself for the first hour when he got a text that the person had arrived. He quickly stepped outside and to the side of the building, did what he needed to do then headed back inside. As he opened the door he came face to face with Susie who seemed to be leaving. He hadn’t even seen her inside, but then again there was a decent sized crowd that night. “Susie!” he let out. “Uh, hi. Were you coming out here? I mean, obviously you were walking out. I was in but then I came out and I think I’m going to go back in. Maybe.” He realized he was rambling and that’s when he felt the alcohol hit him. Finally, he stepped aside to let her out and didn’t make any move to catch the door to head inside. “Um, nice seeing you. I hope you had a good night,” he said awkwardly, trying to salvage the brief conversation in any way he could. “You know, I might head out too. My friend left already and it’s just not the atmosphere I want tonight, I guess.” He bit the inside of his cheek. “Are you driving? I could walk you to your car.”

Susie knew that things were tense, but her parents insisted on throwing their annual New Years Eve party and since she was stuck helping organizing the thing, she was going to make sure that all of her friends were there. She had catered for most of the food, but her mother had whipped up the best desserts she has ever made, and that was saying something. When Lil arrived on time as always she smiled and showed her to the food. She was really hoping that when Phil and Kimi showed that things would be okay. Hopefully they got whatever was going on with them out of their system. “I did not. I wish I had the time to, but I was on dessert duty with my mom.” She dipped a chip into the guac and sighed happily. “This is really good. I should order from this place more often.” At her question she shook her head. “No, not yet. But don’t worry because I bought extra booze this year and have been practicing my drink making. What can I make you, honey?”

Lil was feeling conflicted about being at Susie’s party. On one hand, she was grateful to not be at the stuffy party happening at the country club, but on the other, she was dreading having to see Kimi and Phil. Susie had to have known that no one would dare say no to her and a holiday party. Had anyone else thrown it, she could’ve gotten away with not attending, but this was Susie. “Did you make this guac yourself?” she asked the host, coming over with a plate full of food. “You know, if it weren’t for the drinks and all this food, I might’ve stayed home,” Lil teased, though it was only partially a joke. “I’m kidding. I would’ve come just for you, anyway. You haven’t seen either of them arrive yet, have you? I’m just trying to get a few more drinks in my system before I have to restrain myself from getting an ambulance sent to this party.”

Sometimes Susie went to Angelica’s store just to see the girl smile. It was nice to know she could put on her best face to make Angel’s feel like it was being ran by an actual Angel. The irony was a little funny, but Susie had to admit the clothes were pretty fire. She had to hand it to Angelica; she really did know what she was doing when it came to the things she cared about most. When Angelica had stopped to talk to a customer Susie let out another giggle. “She’s right,” she said in agreement. “And I’m just a regular here.” When the customer walked away satisfied, Susie turned to Angelica. “How much longer do you got? I was thinking we could hit up the food court before the mall closes for the night. If you are here ‘till close, I’ll just go pick you something up.”

It wasn’t often that she had a smile on like this but when she was working it was another story. This shop had become the most important thing in her life, which meant she was the most pleasant when she was there. One of her cashiers had to call out sick so she was running it solo today. It had been a slow morning but she knew it would pick up later. For now she was enjoying the calm, folding clothes to be put back back onto the rack. Looking over at the item the other was holding she gave a small smile. “That color would look so good with your eyes, just so you know.” It was a genuine comment but she put on the charm a little more when people were here. “And no I’m not just saying that because I own the place.”

Though Lil hated that she was right, she was, much like Susie always had a knack for being. Phil was going to snap back at her as hard as she came at her brother, but Susie’s confidence in her made her feel a little better about going at it. “Thanks. I know it’s going to be ugly when I finally talk to him about it, so I’m kind of avoiding it for now,” she admitted. “It’s so weird, right? I mean, I don’t even know how it started, but I never thought I would see this, especially after they had this huge fight at the bonfire. I can’t tell which is worse.” Probably the sleeping together, but pulling them apart from a fight in public was also embarrassing. “I’m actually staying with Tommy and Chuckie right now, and they’ve been amazing. I mean, Tommy’s always been the best friend anyone could have, and Chuckie and I are just hanging in there.”

Susie was happy to hear that Lil and Chuckie were leaning on each other to get through this. That’s why they had each other in their lives; to make the hard stuff not so hard. “I didn’t even know they fought that hard at the bonfire. I really need to be checking in more, don’t I?” She felt like a failure to them most of the time. She knew she should be more present but she got so consumed in all the work she had to do that she didn’t reach out enough. “I just stopped by the other day and Tommy was the only one home. I have to check on Chuckie too....we should all get together sometime and just do something fun to distract us all from this. I think it could be a lot of fun.”

Tommy nodded as she called them a family. Though he was only really related to Dil and Angelica, all the others were just as much of family to him. “I agree. I think our bond is strong enough to make sure that doesn’t happen, though.” At least, he hoped so. With the way things had been going, it was hard to say, but someone had to stay positive through it. He huffed a sigh. “Yeah, sure. How have things been with you, besides all of this crap?”

“Exactly. We are too annoying and too persistent to get rid of each other that easily,” she joked, nudging his shoulder gently. At his question she sighed. “The usual. Busy, busy, and did I mention I was busy?” Between working at the record shop and pretending she was going to go to college soon and taking care of her parents and writing her own music, she was booked pretty full. “Please though, we should not be talking about me. I am the worst at it.” She stood up. “You know what? Let’s put on a good movie and order some pizza. I am so hungry and I like watching movies with you. You always have the best comments.”

As the leader of their friend group, Tommy was sure feeling lost right about now. He thought that maybe Susie would have some advice to ease his worries about everything, but it seemed like no one had the right answer. “Exactly,” he agreed with another sigh. “Hopefully things will get better soon. It’s hard feeling like everyone is torn apart from each other.” Tommy was quite literally in the middle, trying to pull everyone together but not wanting to make anyone mad or upset in the process. “I really thought Halloween had helped everyone get along again, but,” he shrugged, “It’s exactly what you said. One thing after another.”

“Well, yeah. We’re a family,” Susie said with a small smile. They really were. A very dysfunctional one right now with some questionable choices, but still a family. “Things will work out how they are meant to work out. And it might not be great at first and it might be wonderful...but it will work out. We have all been through so much together I don’t...I hope this isn’t something that just makes all of that history go away.” She patted his shoulder. “Do you want to talk about something else instead? We can honestly talk or do whatever. My time is yours tonight.”

Susie nodded her head in agreement. She went to Tommy because he was sort of the leader of this group of friends in a sense. He was normally who they went to when they didn’t know what else to do, and while Susie and sometimes Angelica were there to be an extra voice when needed, she knew that the pressure was probably stressing Tommy out and she wanted to check on him too. “There isn’t a right answer. ‘Cause we know exactly how everyone is gonna react if they haven’t already and yeah, it’s not our lives and our relationship but it...still feels really weird at the same time?” She shrugged. “At the end of the day, life will keep moving on, I just don’t like seeing so many people upset.”

Susie really felt for Lil. She felt for all of her friends in this particular situation, but there was only so much she could do. She could listen to everyone, and try her best to figure out some harmony. She could stay out of it and let things work itself out, if it will. She could do well....both nothing and everything at once. But all that mattered right now was that she was there for Lil in whatever way she needed her. She sighed, bringing her friend close to her in a half-hug. “Oh, there is no way Phil is not going to snap at you. But you have just as much fire in you as he does, so I know you can handle it. It’s...a really weird situation I never thought I would see any of us getting into, but you have a right for feeling how you did. That would be like you or Kimi sleeping with my older brothers. Disgusting. Gross. I would be losing my absolute mind over it.” She gave her a small smile. “I’m just hoping you and Chuckie don’t fall apart....I really need you two to keep your heads up while this....works itself out.”

all susie has ever wanted to do was make her family proud. she worked hard to keep everyone happy. she was the youngest of four and even though she was the baby of the family she was still the one with the most pressure to be the best at everything.

 she never felt like any of her talents were that. she worked so hard to be good at as much as she could to the point where she really started to hate a lot of the things she could do.

susie’s two passions in life are singing and dance. she took ballet as a kid and then later on did some hip-hop and tap as well. she has loved singing since she was a kid and it is the only talent of hers she does believe in. she knows it sounds dramatic, but she really feels like she was born to be on the stage. she just wishes her parents believed in her like that too.

her parents expect her to be the next mayor of amity park but she doesn’t want to do that. she likes being educated and she likes helping the community out, but she doesn’t like the pressure. all of her life there has been pressure and she doesn’t want the same amount of pressure to follow her into her adult life too. she is pushing her luck with her parents being okay with her taking a break before she goes back to college for a second time, but she doesn’t care. getting that job at the record store was the first and only time susie has ever done anything for herself that she is happy with.

she did have a small accident in high school that kept her from really going for music. she got swindled out of 1,000 dollars by a fake music rep and it really set her back for a while. she is so cautious and so careful and she was deceived so easily for the sake of her dreams.

she can play six different instruments right now. she plays the guitar, drums, violin, piano, trumpet, and bass. she honestly could be a one-woman band if she wanted to. she would rather not though.

susie keeps a lot of her own feelings to herself. the only people who can break that habit of hers is her childhood girl friends, lil, kimi, and angelica. her relationship with angelica is complicated at best, but she does really care for her a lot and does want her to succeed. even when she gets on her nerves. lil and kimi are her little angels, her darlings, she will protect them with her life.

she is a bit of a mom friend when it comes to the rugrats. she has been in their lives since she was a kid and watching them grow has been so amazing and susie is just glad she can be there for them all when they need her. 

she has a very large collection of vinyls that are her babies. her favorite things in the world. nothing relaxes her more than putting on a vinyl and letting the music take over her.

she is kind and she really doesn’t try to have enemies, but if anyone messes with the people she cares about most in this world, she will snap and it will not be pretty. she is a very loyal person and she will get messy if she has to for the sake of her friends.

her dating life is...nonexistent. most of the time it’s hard enough to find someone who can keep up with her and the other times she is just so busy she doesn’t even have time to look. she would love to put herself out there more and date and all that stuff but she just...doesn’t even know where to start.

she still lives at home. she knows it is so embarrassing, but she hasn’t had the heart to move out yet. her siblings have all flown the coop and susie feels like someone has to look out for their parents, so there she is doing it. that doesn’t mean she isn’t looking at her dream apartment every other day on her phone.

she has just recently started offering out vocal training and a few instrument lessons for others. she figured it was the best way for her to really do the thing she wants to do and give back to the community without making her parents feel like she was letting them down.

all in all, susie just tries her best to be a good person and a good friend. she puts everyone else’s problems above her own, but she justifies it as being the best kind of friend she can be.
