There’s fanfiction…. And then there’s FANFICTION. The kind of shit you happen upon at like 3am or some other ungodly time because you were trying to find a fix for ur fixation at the time and you are just SUCKED IN and every sentence feels like a line of cocaine and it has quotes and imagery that permeate your brain and it’s the shit that sticks around in your consciousness forever and it never goes away and it’s always going to be one of Those Fics.

Punctuating Dialogue

➸ “This is a sentence with a dialogue tag at the end,” she said.

➸ “This,” he said, “is a sentence split by a dialogue tag.”

➸ “This is a sentence,” she said. “This is a new sentence. New sentences are capitalized.”

➸ “This is a sentence followed by an action.” He stood. “They are separate sentences because he did not speak by standing.”

➸ She said, “Use a comma to introduce dialogue. The quote is capitalized when the dialogue tag is at the beginning.”

➸ “Use a comma when a dialogue tag follows a quote,” he said.

“Unless there is a question mark?” she asked.

“Or an exclamation point!” he answered. “The dialogue tag still remains uncapitalized because it’s not truly the end of the sentence.”

➸ “Periods and commas should be inside closing quotations.”

➸ “Hey!” she shouted, “Sometimes exclamation points are inside quotations.”

However, if it’s not dialogue exclamation points can also be “outside”!

➸ “Does this apply to question marks too?” he asked.

If it’s not dialogue, can question marks be “outside”? (Yes, they can.)

“Interruption” — but there are situations dashes may be outside.

➸ “You’ll notice that exclamation marks, question marks, and dashes do not have a comma after them. Ellipses don’t have a comma after them either…” she said.

➸ “Use paragraph breaks to indicate a new speaker,” he said.

I think it's important to note that if Astarion flat out doesn't like you, he won't sleep with you. He can reject you at the party. It all renders the "if you want to romance him you have to force him to sleep with you" take absolute asinine bullshit.

It's part of his dumb little plan, but he does it because he wants to. Later on he does admit that there was attraction to the player character. Also the writers didn't intend you to metagame when experiencing his story. Your Tav at that point knows jack shit about his backstory.

I like how Astarion only swears in high stress situations, such as:

When you wake up in the middle of him trying to bite you (Shit)

When you say that things need to end between you two. (Oh shit...)

When facing Cazador (Fuck x2)

When you try to probe into his mind to access his worst memory (Fuck off)

And then when you volunteer him to go up to Dribbles (I'm going to fucking kill you)

One of these things is not like the other.

jamie's chronological progression of the night-before-exam events:

• studying until my eyes feel like they're going to fall out and it's still not enough 🤪

• crying in the bathroom

• more studying

• trying to watch videos to get my mind off of it (it doesn't work)

• sudden, terrible nausea

• abrupt cleaning of room because i remembered the test is proctored and they'll see my surroundings (i stuffed so much shit in my closet)
