He's finally giving her the permission to kill the Mauler twins.
For a bit of context, in my very self-indulgent fic I've been writing, she has a... personal vendetta against the twins. But to make a long story short, they're responsible for half the scars she has.
This took me so fucking long because I had to fix Cecil's face like three fucking times. I cannot draw faces at this angle to save my damn life. Or shadows. I’m trying to learn. But I’m glad I was able to finish it in time for the new episodes.
Also, while I was doing this I got a for a new Cecil piece/pieces. It’s a two for one sorta deal, and boy howdy is it gonna be slutty. High chance there will be a NSFW version as well.

Brit is really Cecil's closest friend
These two are my BroTP. Like from what's shown in the comics, these two are fairly close. Given that Brit has been shown numerous times, along with his sister, calling Cecil old man. And teasing him. I really hope they include Brit and his sister. Like please, give me.
Now without further ado, the headcannons:
When Cecil joined the GDA, he was a cocky little shit. As a new recruit he was probably thinking high and mighty of himself until a drill Sergent, or better yet Brit, kicked his ass proving him wrong.
And when he first met Brit, Brit immediately thought, "This little shit is gonna get himself killed or his ass kicked."
Though, tbh I'm leaning more towards it being Brit who kicked his ass, which was a reality check for Cecil. Considering Brit can't be hurt.
Brit has saved Cecil’s ass on numerous occasions. Like, they've done some missions together, but they didn't really become friends until one mission where Brit saved his ass. Obviously pre-scar.
After that, Cecil began to tolerate Brit a lot more and their friendship grew.
Brit has both encouraged Cecil's urge to beat people who deserve it and had to hold him back when he gets out of hand.
Like when they'd go drinking, Brit is very much the designated adult. And has had to stop Cecil from starting something with some idiot who deserved to have their ass kicked.
There has probably been at least one incident where Brit had to keep Cecil from getting arrested.
But outside of that, Brit teased Cecil a lot. And obviously still does. With Brit messing with him often, like taunting him with the photos he took of Cecil reading a Playboy.
Brit still has those photos and continues to remind him about them to this day.
And there are plenty of embarrassing photos of Cecil that Brit still has. And Cecil has told Brit that if he shows anyone else, he will try and find a way to kick his ass. Or get back at him with the embarrassing photos he has of Brit.
But Brit is truly one of Cecil's closest friends. A confidant. Like, he considers several people friends, like Donald or Nolan. But they aren't as close to him as Brit is.
They are quite literally ride or die.

I am extremely tempted to write a Cecil fic of that mission where he nearly died. Like I have a mighty need to do it. Though given that Kirkman said that some characters are getting their own specials, it’s possible we’re gonna get Cecil’s origin. So we’ll probably get more than what we see in the comics.
I dunno. Y’all think I should do it?

Cecil is the biggest menace to the doctors at the GDA
This man has nerve damage.
Also this has been sitting in my drafts since 2021. And I figured it's about time that I get it out.
Due to nearly dying and losing like 99% of his skin, he lost a lot of feeling.
Even though the medical technology at the GDA is top notch they weren't able to restore things fully.
Some days he might not even notice someone touching him.
And he very much has good days and bad days. Meaning he'll either feel nothing, or feel everything. With some days feeling like everything is turned up to 100.
This also applies to temperature, something will feel like it's not hot enough, or too hot, but this just depends on the day.
It's why he's nearly burned himself in the shower before.
Then there are common injuries like scrapes and small cuts that go completely unnoticed unless someone points them out or he notices them on his own several hours after the fact.
Bigger injuries are a different story. Depending on how deep it is, he might mistake it for a smaller injury.
This is why the doctors and medics in the GDA find him a menace, cause he will absolutely pass out at his desk due to an injury he didn't know he had. Or completely brushed off.
Which has happened a of couple times.
It usually ends up with Brit or Donald dragging him to a doctor.
To which they have to do anytime he has to go there for himself.
Being in the medical wing for others? Not a problem.
Being there for himself? It's like dragging a kid into the dentist office by their ankles.
Thankfully the staff know how to deal with him at this point.
His nerve damage is partly why he stopped going out into the field.
Though, it wasn't entirely by choice.
He's also one of those people that insists on others getting attention first.

Cecil's Family
So let's start at the beginning, I should also disclaim, that I'm absolutely bullshitting this timeline. As I see Cecil in his late 50's or early 60's so I'm using that as the basis for all of this. In my personal fic I have it that he's 58, so I'm sorta using that as my base line. But feel free to put him at whatever age you want.
And buckle up, this is rather long. I can't condense things to save my fucking life.
Oh, I do also have another young Cecil fic planned that has his dad in it. Sorta basing it off a story my grandpa told me involving his own dad when he was younger. I will also get more headcannons out about Cecil's dad, and other family members if people want them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cecil was actually named after his grandfather who died in 1944 during WWII.
Now widowed, Susanna ‘Sue’ Stedman was left to look after their two kids, Cecil’s aunt Sarah, and his father Lyle.
Now, Sarah and Lyle are only a few years apart, with Sarah being the older of the two as she was born in ’35, while Lyle was born in ’37. Making them 10 and 7 at the time of their dad’s death.
A year following the death of her husband, Susanna would marry another man in 1945 by the name of Peter Briggs. And he… was not the best father/husband.
And he wasn’t a fan of raising another man’s kids
But a year after being married Susanna and Peter would have a kid together, this being Sarah and Lyle’s half-brother Ollie Briggs
Unfortunately, there were complications when Ollie was born which led to Susanna’s death. Leaving all three siblings in the care of Peter. Who was certainly not thrilled to be taking care of three kids by himself, especially if two of them weren’t his own.
Because of that, the three ended up in an orphanage. And thankfully, they were never separated, due to the help of a pastor who ran the orphanage. But as soon as Sarah turned 18 she had already been working for awhile and found a way to help her brothers and be there for them.
And as soon as Lyle was able to, he quickly got a job to help take care of his younger brother. Landing a job at a mechanic shop in the town they lived in.
(I kinda like to think that Cecil was born in Alabama, mostly cause that’s where his VA is from and I swear, if you listen carefully when Cecil talks you can hear a slight southern accent.)
Now, Lyle had built a bit of a reputation in town. While he was a good man, he certainly didn’t take bullshit from anyone and would kick someone’s ass in a heartbeat if they were doing something wrong.
Cough cough, this is where Cecil learned it from cough cough
This man had an extremely strong moral compass. If you were being a jackass, harassing anyone, being a bigot, you best hope you don’t do it in front of this man.
Because of this there were a few times he wound up in jail, with the pastor who helped him growing up or his sister having to bail him out.
Eventually when he turned 20, so in 1957, Lyle would be drafted and have to serve in the Vietnam war, getting discharged in ’65 when he was injured and lost a lung.
Ironically this man chain smoked like there was no tomorrow, while serving and after he was discharged. Resulting in Cecil picking it up sometime in his late 20’s.
A month after getting back, Lyle did go back to his job. And would meet Cecil’s mother, Bonnie Lynch.
Bonnie is a little bit of a bitch, and you’ll understand why in a moment.
Now, she was born in 1940. I don’t exactly have anything in terms of her family or her own history. I think the only thing I had was that she came from a well off family.
Those two got busy and a couple months later, surprise, she’s pregnant.
Now, Lyle is a good and honest man. And he tries to do the right thing and proposes to her.
However, she turns him down. And straight up tells him, “I’m not interested. I’ll have your kid, but as soon as they’re born. They’re all yours.”
She is the deadbeat mom.
(I have this little headcannon that Lyle kept that ring he proposed with and eventually gave it to Cecil for when he finally settles down.)
cut to cecil saying he’s married to his job
But regardless, Cecil is born sometime in late ‘65 and his mom just straight up leaves after like a month or two.
Now Lyle isn't alone in taking care of Cecil. As his sister is willing to help. Considering by this point she's married and has at least two kids with a third on the way.
Ollie on the other hand was off at college, thanks to the help of Lyle and Sarah putting money towards his education.
But Lyle is still a single father raising a child and it wasn't easy.
Bonnie would go on to be an even bigger dick, because 10 years later, she would end up having two more kids who she would actually raise. Well, "raise". She let those kids do whatever they wanted.
So somewhere out there Cecil has two half-brothers he’s met once and then never talk to again.
The one time they met with him was when their mother died, in like 2012, and he just didn’t want to get to know them. He thanked them for telling him and sent them on their way.
By this time, he was already director of the GDA, so, it’s not like he has a lot of time for family stuff anyway.
But he tries. Especially to see his aunt Sarah who is getting up there in age, and suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Though, by time we see Cecil in the show his dad has long since passed, having died from lung cancer in '96.
Cecil's family isn't overly large. And it's certainly not the happiest story. But his family is a loving one, and looks out for one another.
He does have a lot of cousins though.

It was me who drew the fanart! I struggle a lot with social anxiety and being self conscious about my art so I initially deleted it at first. I also have the drawing in different photo angles too, though the other angles suck lmao . I'm genuinely really happy you like it, I'm sometimes too harsh on myself lol. I feel motivated to draw some more fanart now 👍
Tumblr media
Oh and here's the sketch if you're curious
Thank you! I really appreciate you re-sending it to me. I'm so sorry I didn't get to responding sooner.
But so I'm ecstatic that someone sent me fanart, no one has ever done that before. Also, I love your art style. It's so pretty.
And don't worry, I'm often harsh on myself too. And I also get a lot of social anxiety. But I think this looks really great!

Brief update
Still working on things, I promise.
But I'm getting everything written up and such. I had to go searching for the old headcannons for Cecil that I came up with. Like, I came up with them back in 2021.
Also there might be a slight change to part 3 of the young Cecil fic that I've posted. As someone sent me a message, with fanart of what the reader looked like. And it was really sweet that they sent that. No one has ever sent me fanart before and I thought it was really nice of them.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what happened to said message, so apologies to that person for not responding to it. Meant to do it sooner, but it seems to have just, disappeared. Like, my inbox says there's three messages. But there's only one. If you resend it I'll happily respond to what you sent me.
But with the Young Cecil fic I am possibly planning on turning it into a CecilxReader fic. Though, it might end up being a long con, since this was just supposed to be a standalone piece of Cecil as a teenager that I had written a couple of years ago.
But hopefully the next things to come out are either headcannons of Cecil's family or art. So, hopefully I can kick my ADHD ass into gear and get things done.
I'm playing the impossible balancing game of having so much I want to work on, but not being able to decide what to do first.

I'm so hyped to find another person who writes for Cecil! It was a nice surprise when I saw you updated lol
Well, I'm glad I can add to the Cecil content. I've got a few more fics planned as well as headcannons. I just need to either write them down or polish it lol.
I do have some art planned, I just have to actually sit down and force myself to work lol.

Military School Pt.2
Apologies for taking so long on this. Life got a little hectic around Christmas time, and I just haven't had the time since. But things have finally calmed down enough that I had the chance to make those edits.
But here is part 2, I will get part 3 up as soon as possible. But it might take a bit since I have to re-write it. And hopefully I can get more Cecil art done. As well as drawing his dad because, fuck it, why not.
Link to Pt.1
TW: blood, injuries, mentions of the foster system
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walking through the empty halls with his father, there was a growing tension between the two. He was dreading the ride home, knowing as soon as they stepped through the door, he was gonna be on the receiving end of a tongue lashing. While his dad rarely yelled at him, this situation was different. He was on the verge of getting kicked out of the only high school in town and there weren’t many options for him.
Exiting the school, he was hit by the warm evening air. Despite the sun nearly being down, the air still felt sticky. Looking around he noticed only a handful of cars in the parking lot. Given how long he had been sitting in the office he wasn’t surprised. Normally he would’ve been home by now, but he wasn’t expecting to get into a fight after school. A fight that the jackass senior started and was blaming him for. In his own defense, he didn’t throw the first punch. But it didn’t matter.
Reaching his dads’ car, he reached for the door handle before being stopped when his dad called for him. “Hold up. Let me check your nose first.”
Turning around, he faced his dad and braced himself. As his father’s fingers prodded at his nose, pain erupted, and he violently jerked back.
His dad hummed, “Hmmm… should be an easy fix. I can put it back into place as soon as we get home.”
His father stepped back and walked around to the drivers’ side. Sighing, he pulled open the passenger side door and slid in. Shutting the door behind him. As he buckled himself in, his dad started the car and pulled out of the parking space.
For the most part it was a quiet ride, the radio was off, and the only other sounds would be the occasional passing car that would break the silence.
A few minutes go by when he finally mustered the courage to say something, “So, should I be packing my bags for Marlin academy?”
For what felt like forever they both sat there in silence, nothing but road noise filling the void.
His dad sighs, “Were you telling the truth? Were you really just protecting your friend?”
“Yeah, that senior threw the first punch when I went to talk to him.”
“You really went to just talk?” His dad raised his brow.
“Yeah, I really tried to deal without fighting this time.”
His dad got quiet for a moment, “I know you wouldn’t throw the first punch without a good reason. You’re not getting off easy at home by the way, you will be doing all the schoolwork you’re gonna be missing as well as extra chores…” His dad paused for a second, “You really went off on that kid, not gonna lie though, he did kind of deserve it. Probably learned to act that way from his dad.”
“Kind of like how I got my foul mouth from you?”
His dad chuckled softly, “Yeah kind of… Listen, you can’t keep getting into fights, or at least ones that severe. One day someone will call the cops on you, and I won’t be able to help you. I know you don’t like it when assholes get away with doing bad shit, but you can’t always take justice into your own hands. You’ll find yourself in a situation where you’ll just have to accept the consequences.”
Looking down at his hands, they ached in pain. And he knew they were gonna be bruised tomorrow. He started to use the rag to try and wipe off the blood.
His dad must’ve seen him messing with his hands, “Knuckles hurt?”
“Yeah, a little bit.” He replied as he rubbed his thumb in between in knuckles.
His dad smirked, “I’ll get you some ice when we get home. Hopefully you didn’t break anything, I can’t do anything about that. Honestly… and I’m not trying to encourage you or anything, but I’m impressed that you were able to kick his ass.”
He smiled, “Kinda makes you think that he’s not all that great of a football player.”
The older Stedman laughed, “Haha, no shit. I wonder what’s more hurt his ego, for getting his ass handed to him by a 14-year-old, or the fact that he’s gonna be missing some games till he’s off probation?”
“Probably both.”
Silence quickly took over, nothing but the sound of the road and the occasional passing car.
After a couple minutes they finally pull into the driveway of their little home. Hopping out of the car, he started to make his way to the front door when he heard his dad call him.
“Go get the first aid kit and meet me in the bathroom, gotta get the mail first.”
Nodding his head, he bounds up the front porch and unlocks the front door. Going inside.  and goes straight for the first aid kit in the laundry room. Grabbing it, he darts to the bathroom down the hall and sets it on the bathroom counter.
Looking in the mirror, the skin under his eyes and across his nose was starting to change color; his lip swollen. Dried blood stained the lower half of his face and neck.
As he inspected his face, he heard the door open and shut. Keys being tossed into the bowl by the door. And his father’s footsteps coming towards the bathroom.
Turning to the door, his dad stood there. “You may want to leave your shirt on, it’s already ruined. Might as well use it to keep blood from getting anywhere else.”
Nodding his head, he stepped aside to let his dad grab what he needed.
“You know the drill, edge of the tub.” His dad washed his hands, glancing over at him briefly. “Do you need something to bite on?”
Thinking back to the last time he broke his nose, he remembered how he had bitten his cheek so hard last time he could taste blood for nearly two weeks straight. “Yeah, I don’t want a repeat of last time.”
His dad held out a scrap of leather that came from an old belt. Taking it, he remembered all the times he’s had to bite down on it when he got hurt. Usually from doing something stupid, like the time he climbed the tree in the backyard and the branch he was stepping on broke out from under him; resulting in a nasty cut on his leg that required stitches. Putting the scrap between his teeth, he braced himself.
Finished at the sink, his dad sat down on the toilet, “Alright, the sooner this is done the sooner I can start dinner. You ready?”
Taking a deep breath, he nodded. He watched as his dad used a little rod to push the broken bit of bone back into place. Biting down on the leather, he squeezed his eyes shut. Trying his best to block out the pain.
With a click, he felt his nose pop back into place. Slowly opening his eyes, tears blurred his vision. Through blurry vision he watched as his dad’s packed his nose with gauze. Which only sent more pain throughout his face. Blinking, he cleared his vision and looked at his dad. The same serious expression plastered on his face.
Soon his nose was all patched up and his dad leaned back, “Alright you’re all done, you know the drill be careful with your nose. Painkillers are in the cupboard, make sure you take it now, so it’ll kick in sooner.” His dad stood up and was about halfway out of the bathroom door before stopping, “Oh, and take a shower before dinner, you’re uh… smelling a little ripe. And be sure to tape up your nose as soon as you’re done.”
Nodding his head, he watched as his dad strolled out of the bathroom. Leaving him to get cleaned up. Standing up, he went to his room. Rifling through his closet for clean clothes. Grabbing the first thing he saw; he quickly went back to the bathroom, taking the painkillers before hopping into the shower. Within 15 minutes he’s cleaned up. Before exiting, he taped his nose up. Silently, he walked out of the bathroom and towards the kitchen, ruined shirt in hand.
Walking into the kitchen, his dad had his back to him. Focused on the stove, finishing up their dinner.
Holding up his shirt, he makes his presence known, “Hey dad, inside or outside garbage?”
His dad turns his head, “Hm? Oh, uh, outside, just make sure you bury it under the other stuff. Hate for the raccoons to shred your shirt on the front lawn.” His dad chuckled. “That’d be an awkward conversation with the neighbors, don’t want them to think I beat you. Dinner will be ready any second, made some soup, so be quick.”
Going out the backdoor, he walked over to the garbage can. Pulling off the lid, and pulling a few bags out, before burying the shirt deep in the trash. Replacing the lid, he went back in the side door and looked into the dining room, his dad already sitting at the table.
His dad motioned for him to join, “Dinner’s ready.”
Sitting across from his dad, the two of them silently ate their dinner.
As he ate, the situation of the whole situation started to settle in. Causing a knot to form in his stomach. Setting the spoon down, he stared at the bowl in front of him. Wondering what was going to happen.
His dad noticed, “You okay? Does it hurt to eat?”
Shaking his head, he continued to stare at the bowl, “Do you think they’re gonna believe me? I know you said you weren’t gonna send me to military school, but it’s not like there any other high school in town. Except maybe the Catholic school.”
His dad set his elbows on the table and put his hands together. He was quiet for a minute and sighed. “I’m not sure. Honestly, it seemed like principal Owens was on your side, considering how ‘jackass’ had reacted, but I’m not sure. I’m certainly not sending you to the Catholic school. Nothing against the church, I just don’t think it would be a good idea to send you to a Catholic school. You’d get yourself kicked out on day one. No offense kid, but you swear too much for someone your age. But that’s on me. As for the military school, it may be our only option, considering driving you back and forth to the next town over wouldn’t make things easy.”
His dad leaned back in the kitchen chair, “You may have screwed the pooch on this one kid. But no matter what happens we’ll figure something out, we always do.”
He laughed nervously, “You could always send me to live aunt Sarah or uncle Ollie, and I could go to school where they live.”
His dad stiffened up, and his expression changed to one that was a mixture of sadness and concern. “Hey, hey! I don’t want to hear that. I threaten you a lot with military school, but I’m not gonna send you off to live with relatives. I refuse to be one of those parents that pawns their kid off on someone else when they get out of hand. I know I’m a bit of a hardass, but I just want what’s best for you.”
His dad rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. “I didn’t have my parent’s growing up, and I don’t want you to go through something like that. It doesn’t matter if they are my siblings, I’ve got nothing against them, but I want to raise my own damn child."
A sad silence took over the Stedman household, both of them staring at their dinner. A twinge of guilt rose in his chest; his dad rarely talking about being raised in the foster system after his mom had died, but he should’ve known better than to bring it up.
He sheepishly broke the silence, “Dad, I’m sorry. I don’t know why I said that.”
“Don’t be, we both got screwed in the family department.” His dad scoffed, “I mean for fucks sake the only person I’ve met on your mother’s side, is your mother.”
The rest of dinner passed quietly, and the two did their evening routines, winding down from a hectic day. Hunched over his homework, he heard a knock at his bedroom door. Looking at the door, his dad stood in the open doorway.
“Lights out kid, you may not be going to school tomorrow, but you’re not staying up all night.”
Nodding his head, he closed his math book and sat up, “Yes sir.”
His dad then walked away leaving the door open, light from the hallway illuminating his room. Getting up from his desk, he shut off the desk lamp as he walked away. Padding off to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Looking in the mirror, a large purple bruise had begun to grow. Spreading across his cheeks and his nose. Sighing, he spit out the remaining toothpaste in his mouth and went back to his room. Exhausted, he crawled into bed. Reaching up he shut off the lights above his bed and quickly passed out.

Made this a couple of weeks ago, mostly for fun. My main OC bugging the hell out of Cecil. What about? Who knows. I know, but I'll never tell lol.
I'll eventually get her full ref sheet out. She's... been a work in progress for a long time. Honestly, posted her before, but she looked a lot different then.

Hi! Do you take request?
Yeah, sorta. I can take requests, but I can't guarantee how quickly I can get those requests out.

You cannot convince me that this didn't happen.
Also, yes, I know, said I was gonna get the second part of the fic out. But I've been busy the past few days and out of the house, so now I can finally sit down and do shit. And I draw faster than I write, and I wanted to christen my new art tablet with a meme of an art piece. And the comic was mostly started.
This thing, this damn comic, has been sitting in my folder for about two years I think. The reason I say that is cause the original version I drew that's in my old style I started like a year or so ago. Never finished it, never plan on finishing it. Looking at my old art style makes me cringe lol. But, I actually started this one like, back in July I think.

I’m back! And I’m exhausted. School is officially over, and I have my bachelors degree. So you know what that means, art and fanfic time. I can actually get shit done now.
First thing is to get out the next part of that fanfic. And then write up all the headcannons I’ve had bouncing in my head these past few weeks. And all the art! I’ve got some suggestive pieces planned.

So update, apologies for being like, silent and not getting things up. School got really fucking busy, and will be for the next few weeks. I will try to get stuff out when I can. Cause I've got like 3 papers, one big ass project, a presentation, and like 3 or 4 finals coming up soon.
But in like 4 weeks I'll be free for awhile before I jump into my PhD in like a year.

Military School Pt.1
Sorry this took so long to get out, a self-indulgent Cecilxreader fic that I started to write took over my life for a couple on months. And then school started.
But I wrote this about two years ago, and I only meant for it to be shared with people on this Cecil server I was in. But, considering its gone now, I figured why not. And Cecil is supposed to be like, 14 or 15 in this.
This is part one of a three part story. The second part should be up possibly by the end of the week. Gotta make some edits to it first.
Plot: Cecil gets into a fight that nearly gets him expelled from high school, and almost gets sent to military school.
Link to Pt.2
TW: blood, injuries, and mentions of violence and sexual harassment (very briefly on that second one)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sitting there in an uncomfortable chair, Cecil leaned forward. His elbows resting on his knees and a bloody rag pressed against his nose. Though, given the fact that his shirt was already covered in his own blood, the rag was pretty much useless. Craning his neck, he looked at the senior who sat across from him. The senior he’s labeled ‘Jackass’ looked like shit, his shirt stained with blood. The skin around his nose and one of his eyes starting to turn purple.
The senior pressed a bloodied rag into his face, as his lip had been busted and his nose broken. Two of the seniors’ fingers were in a makeshift splint; and while he had heard something pop, he wasn’t sure if they were broken or just dislocated.
But it didn’t matter; he was still screwed regardless. Up until this point he had gotten away with getting into fights with assholes or bullies. Middle school kids were too embarrassed that they got their ass kicked. Sure, there were times when someone would snitch, and he’d get in trouble. But most of the time he’d get a warning or detention, considering the other kids never got hurt enough to warrant suspension, or worse, expulsion. But high schoolers were different, you fight back, hurt their ego, and they’ll find a way to make your life miserable; especially if they had been on top of the food chain.
But here he was, sitting outside the principal’s office contemplating everything that went wrong, how he let his temper get the better of him.
Craning his head up, he got a better look at the ‘jackass’ sitting across from him. And he was met with a glare that could melt steel. Lowering the rag, he checked his nose; thankful that the bleeding finally stopped.
He returned the dirty look to the senior, scrunching his nose in the process. Which only sent a wave of pain through his face, and he was convinced that it was broken. It wasn't the first time it's been broken, and it certainly wouldn't be the last. But knowing his dad, a trip to the emergency room wasn’t likely, as his dad would rather just set it at home.
Looking at the floor, he stared at the ugly linoleum. He could see a few stray droplets of blood on the ugly brown linoleum, that was probably outdated when it was put down. And he wondered who had the bright idea to choose brown of all colors.
But his thoughts were interrupted when he heard a shouting match break out behind him. The door to his right muffled the voices, but he quickly straightened up when he heard his dad shouting.
The ‘Jackass’ spoke up, “Sounds like you’re in trouble you little shit.”
He looked at the senior and could see that he had a shit eating grin on his face. But he watched as the smug look turned to regret as blood started to run down his chin, and he moved the rag from his nose to his lip.
“I wouldn’t have kicked your sorry ass if you had just left my friend alone.” He spat back.
He leaned back in the chair and looked up to the stained ceiling, attempting to make sense of what was being said. All he could tell was that it didn’t sound good for him. Occasionally he could make out his dad insulting whoever else was in there.
The shouting quickly died down, and he heard a third voice talking, then footsteps.
On his right, a door quickly opened, and he turned his head to look. Standing in the doorway was short and portly man who looked both terrified and exhausted.
He sighs, “Both of you in my office, now!”
Forcing himself up from the chair, he reluctantly walked through the doorway. Quickly spotting his dad standing across from the ‘jackasses’ father.
His dad quickly looked at him, and ice filled his veins. He could see that his dad was not happy. Catching his eye for a moment, he quickly looked elsewhere as he walked into the office. While he was never scared of his father, for once he was nervous. The fact that this fight had gotten so out of hand made things look worse for him.
As soon as he was within grabbing distance, his dad pulled him close. Quietly seething at him through his teeth, “You are in so much trouble!”
What little color there was in his face left as he rarely saw his dad this angry.
The portly man walks around the room and sits down behind his desk. On top sat a little placard, ‘Principal Owens’.
With a sigh, the principal sat down. “Mr. Stedman, I’m afraid we have a serious situation on our hands here. I don’t take kindly to violence occurring on school grounds, especially when it leads to serious injury. And to be completely honest Mr. Stedman, this isn’t looking good for your son.”
He felt his chest tighten. And while he wanted to defend himself, he bit his tongue right as the ‘jackasses’ father started to yell.
“I want that little bastard expelled and arrested! Look at what he did to my son!” The man spat, gesturing to his son’s injuries.
Principal Owens cuts in with exasperation, “Mr. Lawson please, before any decision is made, I want Mr. Stedmans’ to explain himself.”
Now with everyone’s attention turned towards him, his mouth suddenly went dry, and he had no idea how to explain himself. Where to even begin, and if they would even believe him. Considering it was his word against ‘jackasses’ and his cronies. He had a few friends that could certainly vouch for him, but he didn’t want them involved in this mess.
He could feel his dad’s grip on his shoulder tighten, and in that moment, he was almost too terrified to even look towards his father. Taking a deep breath, knowing that even if he told the truth, he could still be screwed. “He’s been harassing my friend for days. And when I went to talk to him, to tell him to leave her alone, he took a swing at me. I didn’t start the fi-”
Before he could finish his sentence, Mr. Lawson lost his grip on his son for a moment as the senior attempted to lunge at him, calling him a liar. Thankfully, his dad quickly put himself in between the two teenagers, and Mr. Lawson pulled his son back.
Principal Owens stood up quickly and slammed his hands onto his desk, “That’s enough! I will not have any more fighting! Especially in my office.” Looking over to Mr. Lawson he said, “Control your son!”
He watched as the ‘jackass’ huffed in anger.
As soon as things started to calm down for a moment the principal looked at him, “Cecil, what do you mean he’s been harassing your friend?”
Breathing a sigh of relief, he began to explain things. “All of this started two weeks ago, when he started to harass my friend. He kept making all sorts of sexual comments towards her, or him and his friends kept harassing her after school. I went to go talk to him, to tell him to knock it off. But all he did was attack me. I didn’t go looking for a fight, but no one else was telling him to stop.”
As the words left his mouth, he could feel the tension growing in the room. But he noticed his dad’s grip loosen a bit.
The principal narrowed his eyes at him, as he leaned back into his chair. “And why didn’t you think to report this to the office? And why hasn’t she come forward?”
What anxiety he felt, was quickly replaced with anger, “I tried, and no one did anything! She tried, but no one would take her seriously. If you really don’t believe me, ask her. Ask the teacher that caught the ‘jackass’ messing with her yesterday.”
He still couldn’t remember his name, though at this point it wasn’t worth trying.
“Young man, I will not tolerate that language in my office or my school.” Owens said. “Which teacher are you talking about?”
He wracked his brain trying to remember who had caught the older student, but his memory was failing him. “I don’t know, I think it might’ve been the P.E. teacher. I wasn’t there, she just told me about all of this, this morning. She said it’s been happening after school for the past two weeks. She said that the teacher saw and stopped it but didn’t do anything else.”
Principal Owens sighed and rubbed his face. And for what felt like minutes, everyone was silent.
His dad cleared his throat, “Principal Owens, I’d like to know what you plan on doing? I agree that what my son did was wrong, but if what he’s saying is true, I hope ‘jacka-’, Mr. Lawson’s son is punished as well.”
Biting his tongue, he had to stop himself from laughing at his dad’s slip-up. Over the past couple of years, many of his teachers had complained about his colorful language. Resulting in a lot of parent teacher conferences, where they quickly learned where he got it from.
But before Principal Owens could respond Mr. Lawson interjected, “Are you kidding me? My son is the victim here, I want the little menace arrested.”
He felt his heart stop for a moment and his dad’s grip tighten again.
“Now hold on.” Principal Owens says. “Before the police get involved, I want to make sure that everyone is telling the truth.”
Mr. Lawson’s face was turning red, “I know for a fact that this isn’t the first time that little bastard has done something like this. Everyone knows he’s done this before.”
“Sir please calm down; I know all too well about Cecil’s previous incidents. I’ve seen his records, but his past incidents have never been like this. And I don’t think the police need to be involved yet.”
He internally breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that the cops wouldn’t be involved just yet.
Lawson opens his mouth to start again, but Owens stops him, “I think the best course of action, for now, would be suspension for both. I want to see if what Cecil say’s is true. If it ends up being a lie then your son can return to school immediately, if not, then he’ll have to serve out his suspension. And he will be put on academic probation when he returns.”
‘Jackass’ begins to whine, “What?! You can’t do that? I’m needed on the team. I need this to get into college.”
The older Stedman cuts in, “Kid, if you have to rely on to being a football player to get yourself into college, you probably shouldn’t be going. Besides if my son is lying then you have nothing to worry about.”
Both Lawson’s looked at his father, moving their anger from Principal Owens to the older Stedman.
Before either Lawson could say anything, Owens speaks. “Now Mr. Stedman, I cannot let Cecil off with just a warning, he did injure another student. If he’s telling the truth, he’ll have to serve out his suspension, and a few weeks of detention when he comes back. But if your son is lying, I will be forced to expel him.”
His father, now much more levelheaded, spoke. “I understand.”
“Now please, go home. I have an incident report to fill out.”
As he and his dad walked out of the principal’s office, his father spoke to him quietly, “We’ll talk about this when we get home.”
He nodded his head, “Yes sir.”
