I understand a lot of the choices the anime is making for season 2, but everything they are doing with Sakae feels so disingenuous to the manga and it’s frustrating. 

They’re skipping over the entire journey of learning who he is and what he is doing that we are still in the middle of even in the manga.

I hate this bit from the anime because it's clear they're just trying to foreshadow the next episode.

BUT it implies that Komon and therefore Aoi know about what Sakae was up to. Which just adds to question 2.

I hate how much we dont know about Sakae.

When he met Yahiko he was wearing a uniform. Not to mention his hair was (presumably dyed) black at the time. However when we see him in Sasa’s memory he looks the same but with his hair golden, which implies to me that it was before that. Plus we dont see Aoi anywhere in that memory. So it seems to me that Sakae was working on his own killing demons before he became employed by the mononokean, which is presumably how he ended up meeting Aoi.

Then we know Sakae was working for the mononokean after that in high school and he died at the end of his time working at the mononokean, which was right before Ashiya was born. And since he still had dyed hair when Aoi disguised themselves as him, I would assume he kept it dyed the whole time.

So since Nara recognized Abeno’s blond hair immediately as being like Sakae, I would assume that she met him before he worked at the mononokean up until the point he died. Which assuming they had Ashiya’s sister young (like right out of highschool) would have been at minimum 4/5 years after that (going off the fact the fact that Ashiya’s sister can drink plus moved out shes probably at least least 20). I assume Sakae was around 25ish when he died and worked at the mononokean for at least 5 years out of high school.

So the big questions I have.

1. Why did he get involved with Nara/have children while doing all this? Hanae already has a lot of trouble keeping up relationships not related to Yokai and the Mononokean. Is he even Ashiya’s real dad??? Or did he get involved with her and has something to do with the fact that it seems like she got possessed a lot.

2. How did Sakae meet Aoi? Was Aoi cool with him murdering Yokai or did he keep that a secret from them? Because even if Aoi somehow was cool with it, the Mononokean nor the Legislator would be. Is that why his employment was kept secret?

3. What is/Sakae’s goal in all of this?
