Booksgiving!
Hello everybody! So recently it's been brought to my attention that booksgiving isn't all that popular? Which is crazy because it's so much fun! My friends and I are participating in this fun activity this year and I literally cannot wait! Anyway, here's how it works!
Introduction to booksgiving: The basis of booksgiving is almost completely like Secret Santa. Only difference is that it's for a different holiday and it's specifically for books. Everybody has a secret person who they need to get a book for.
(Protip: You have someone and someone has you, but you don't necessarily have each other)
Setup for booksgiving: If you're doing this in person, you can put everyone's name in a hat and have everyone draw from the hat. If you get yourself, simply call for a re-draw or swap with someone else. If you're doing this virtually, you can find a randomizer (random.org is a good basic one, although I suggest making a class dojo for your group and using that randomizer). Just make a list of the people in your group and pair them with whoever the randomizer puts out.
(Protip: I suggest getting a person not in the group to randomize the names if you are doing this virtually. Otherwise, whoever set it up will know who they have, and that's no fun)
How to participate: Now that everyone has their assigned person, how do you participate? This is the fun part. Pretty much you want to stalk your person on all their social so you can figure out what kind of book they like. You could just ask but they'll likely figure out you have them, which is lame. If social media isn't an option, consider making a group chat. You can have everyone put their interests, taste in books, favorite authors, etc. in the chat so that you don't end up giving someone a book they would hate. Another safe option is to just give them a book you recommend.
Completing Booksgiving: Ok, so you've selected the perfect book. Now you have to get it to your person. I suggest having a Friendsgiving and opening them all together. If you're doing this virtually, however, simply wrap and ship your book to your person. You can open them together over zoom!
(Protip: Don't put a return address! Keep them in suspense)
(Another protip: Send your book at least a week before Thanksgiving)
Spicing up booksgiving:
~ Wrap the book all fancy! I like to use Pinterest inspiration and make my gifts all cute before I send them.
~ Annotate the book! If you're sending a book you've read before - maybe even your favorite - annotate the book! It is a lot of fun for your friend to read your thoughts.
~ Add some handmade book accessories like bookmarks, or book cozies/sleeves.
I hope you like this idea! This really is a fun game to do with your friends and I encourage you to do it if you can! It's not to late for this year!
See you later,

My Fall Bucket List☕🍁🥧
Fall. Time of sweaters, lattes, cloudy days, and everything superior to everything else.
Autumn, as I prefer to call it, is my favorite season, the best season, if you will.
Since, it is the season of seasons I thought it only fitting to provide a few fall-tastic posts, including this one.
Not let's get to the content shall we.

I’ve waited a long time for this time of year, and I plan to make the most of it. Let’s hope I’ll be able to do a good amount of these, because I know there is no way I will be able to do them all.
Read the companion post here.
Thanks for reading!
