What is Hair Transplant Surgery and its Types ?
Hair transplant surgery is a procedure to treat baldness by moving healthy hair follicles from one area of the body (the donor area) to an area with no hair (the recipient area). There are two main techniques for hair transplants: FUT and FUE.
Types of Hair Transplants:
FUT: This involves taking a strip of hair from the back or sides of the head, dividing it into smaller grafts, and planting them where hair is needed.
FUE: Individual hair follicles are taken from the donor area and transplanted. This method doesn't leave visible scars.
FUE Hair Transplant:
In this technique, individual hair follicles are harvested from the donor area and placed into micro slits in the recipient area. It's suitable for smaller transplants (around 1000-1500 grafts). It's scarless and generally considered pain-free.
Advantages of FUE:
Scarless and good for short hairstyles.
Generally, pain-free due to anesthesia.
Limitations of FUE:
More chance of damaging hair roots due to different follicle directions.
Fewer transplanted hairs compared to FUT.
Limited grafts can be harvested from the safe zone.
FUT Hair Transplant:
In FUT, a strip of skin with intact hair roots is taken from the back or side of the head. Grafts are separated and transplanted similarly to FUE, but more grafts can be harvested.
Advantages of FUT:
More grafts can be harvested in one session.
More hair grows from transplanted follicles.
Transplanted hairs come from the safe zone.
Limitations of FUT:
Leaves a scar on the back of the head.
May have been considered painful, but our procedure is painless.
