Full Worm Moon
Tumblr media
March’s Full Moon will be a super moon!
The full Worm Moon will reach its peak at 1:48 PM ET on Monday, March 9 in Virgo. As the first of three super moons this year, 2020′s Worm Moon will prove a little more potent than usual. The Worm Moon comes at a time when the Earth is beginning to show visual signs of Spring’s return. The weather may feel mercurial and indecisive, which is why the Anglo-Saxons called it Hlyd-monat (stormy month). But, never fear, Spring will come! Other names for this moon are Seed Moon, Lenten Moon, Chaste Moon, Sap Moon, and Crow Moon.
Use this moon’s energy for spells related to growth and rebirth. Many early bulbs have already begun to sprout, and so too will the plans you’ve so carefully laid the past few months. If you’re thinking about making a big change - in your career or personal life - now is the time to make the leap. Perform an elemental cleansing or healing rituals. Clean and organize your altar and hearth. Welcome the promise of new life and rebirth.

So I was out in my Local New Age Bookstore the other day and they had these neat moon phase calendars, but none had the holidays or zodiac at a glance so I decided to make one. This is ostensibly for myself, but feel free to use it for personal use!

Full Snow Moon
Tumblr media
The Full Snow Moon reaches its peak at 2:34 AM EST on Sunday, February 9 in Leo. The name for this moon is pretty straightforward - on average, February sees the most snow in the U.S. For those in more southern regions, other names include: the Quickening Moon, Hunger Moon, and Tree Moon.
Deep in he heart of winter, February brings a sense of restless longing. A hunger forms in the heart for the warming of spring. This is a month when the first stirrings of life are quickening in the earth, but still too dormant to see. We must have faith that we can hold on until we see the first green shoots of early plant life. This is the time to make plans for the future, and so use the power of the Full Snow Moon to breathe life into those hopes and dreams. Encourage yourself - and others - to focus on personal achievements and advances.

Imbolc
Tumblr media
February 2nd marks Imbolc. Falling about halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, Imbolc reminds us that Spring and the Light will return soon. Only a few more weeks of winter remain, and the renewal of the Earth draws closer.
This date has long been associated with different rituals and holidays. The Romans celebrated Lupercalia, a ritual of renewal and remembrance, around this time. Ancient Egyptians took this time of year to honor Nut, the goddess of the sky and mother of the sun god Ra. Catholics celebrate Candelmas, the feast of purification of the Virgin, and St. Brigid’s Day (itself stemming from an older Irish feast). Many witches and Pagans today use Imbolc to honor the goddess Brighid, the keeper of the sacred flame and high goddess of Ireland.
Imbolc is a time to remember the light of the world, to draw inspiration and devote yourself more fully to your craft. Take a moment to think of Spring’s renewal, to plan your garden and begin your indoor seedlings. Light white or red candles to represent the promise of Sun and Spring.
As we still feel the chill of winter, you might not feel like going out and having a big celebration. And that’s okay! Imbolc represents a slow awakening, the subtle warming of the earth and air. Its sacred symbol is fire, but it is the gentle light of the candle, the first light of dawn. Celebrate with meditation, prayer, and dreams. Reconnect with the energy of the seasons in anticipation of the year’s big moments.

Green Witch’s Beauty Smoothie
Tumblr media
Not only is this smoothie healthy and tasty, it also promotes youthful beauty! With lots of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Potassium, it’s super good for you, boosting your metabolism and giving you some great oleic acid. It’s a weird combo, I know, but it works (I swear!). Not too sweet and not too green-tasting. And, thanks to the nutrient-dense attributes of the banana and avocado, it won’t leave you feeling hungry half an hour later.
Ingredients
1 Hass Avacado or 1/2 Florida Avocado
¾ to 1 whole Banana*
~Splash of vegetable or cranberry juice*
½ Key Lime Greek Yogurt or ¼ cup Coconut Milk Yogurt
Instructions
Cut fruit into small pieces. Throw in a blender w/ juice. Blend until smooth. Add yogurt and blend until smooth.
Notes
Florida Avocados are not only bigger, but have a higher water content than Hass Avocados. I love ‘em.
The riper the banana, the sweeter the smoothie will be.
Add the juice a little bit at a time, until you reach the consistency you like.
I’m just suggesting Coconut Milk Yogurt as a vegan alternative, but you can use your preferred type. Just note that almond- and soy-based yogurts will give you a nuttier flavor.
You can refrigerate this and save it for later, just know that you might find some discoloration. Don’t worry; this doesn’t mean it’s gone bad, it’s just the avocado’s naturally fast oxidation.
