Subtle Witch Tips - Lammas / Lughnasadh
Happy Harvest!
I created a list of subtle witch tips for folks who are looking for some low-key harvest celebrations during this busy time.
🌽 Bake a loaf of Quick Bread - Unlike most breads which take hours to prove, quick breads are just that - quick! Have a search around Pinterest or your favorite recipe places and find something that strikes your fancy. I happen to be partial to beer cheese breads with caramelized onions. While mixing your dough be sure to infuse it with thankfulness for all that you have been granted this year.
🌻 Do a ritual centered around your goals for the year - Make a list of everything you hoped to work on this year and evaluate how far you’ve come. Make offerings in celebration of all you’ve accomplished and meditate on what you can best do to manifest everything you’ve hoped for.
🌽 Go for an early evening walk - Bask in the warmth and light that continues to suffuse the later hours of the day. As the days grow darker, you will come to miss the greenery and easy evening productivity. There’s no easier way to be grateful for something than to acknowledge it in the moment and be fully present in the world.
🌻 Let go of regrets with a burning spell - Lughnasadh is also a period of reflection as with the bounty of life comes the memory that death is not far behind. Sit quietly and meditate on what plans you had that are not working out, or what endeavors you should be letting go of. Write all your regrets and what you want to rid yourself of on pieces of paper or corn husks if you’re feeling particularly seasonal. Gather all of them up and burn them one by one to release yourself from such burdens as we go into the tail end of the year.
🌽 Tidy Up - While we usually think of harvest time as a period of abundance, for farmers it is also a time of cleaning. Once the bounty of the fields is collected, work begins to prepare the ground for more crops, or for the soil to sit under a sleepy blanket of snow until spring. Take some time out of your Lughnasadh celebrations to clean your space - your altar, your home, or even just your bed or desk. Evaluate that which is no longer serving you and consider donating unwanted items so that others may benefit from your abundance!
Wishing you all a very happy first harvest! ☀️

How to celebrate the New Moon 🌑
Channel lunar energy and store it in a crystal for later use
Make new moon water
Perform any spells for new beginnings, cleansing, renewal, rebirth, peace, love, and healing
Leave offerings for the moon
Cleanse any tools, crystals, or other witchy items
Cleanse yourself in the bath or shower - visualize any negative energy being washed down the drain (using soaps, shower gels, or bath oils that consist of scents like citrus, lavender, lemongrass, or anything else you associate with cleansing)
Cleanse your home
Put up new wards or renew wards that are currently in place
Take a ritual bath using herbs and oils that represent the moon (jasmine, lemon, sandalwood, honeysuckle, for example)
Alternately, use herbs and oils that represent rebirth and renewal instead (cedar, grapefruit, lemon, lemongrass, lime, etc.)
Light incense that corresponds to the moon
Start a new creative project
Seek out new friendships or relationships
Put in applications for employment, college, etc.
Break old or bad habits
Treat yourself

🌿Lammas Activities🌿
Lammas (also called Lughnasadh) is a sabbat from the Wheel of the Year that is celebrated on August 1st to mark the beginning of the harvest season
Tumblr media
🌿 Bake! Cooking and sharing food is a great activity for any sabbat, and cooking bread, desserts, meat, and enjoying fruits and vegetables is a great way to celebrate Lammas! 🌿 Enjoy nature! Fall is coming next, so enjoy the fresh air while you can. Invite friends and family on a nature walk or picnic or you can go yourself and embrace the beauty that nature has to offer! Visit a lake, a park, go on a trail, or whatever you want to connect with nature! 🌿 Take care your plants! This is the beginning of the harvest season. Take extra care of your plants and maybe even give them a treat: new soil, a new pot, fresh water, or fertilizer. If it’s time to harvest some fruits or veggies, do so!  🌿 Decorate your altar and/or home! Colors, plants, grains, wreaths, animal prints, and candles are some great ways to decorate your home and/or altar for Lammas! 🌿 Do some crafts! Making crafts is a great way to have fun on Lammas, especially if you’re celebrating with kids! Making corn dolls and corn wheels are a few of the many fun ways to celebrate! Plus, when spring rolls around, you can bury the corn doll or corn wheel in a new garden to help your plants grow. 🌿 Prosperity magic! Lammas is the ideal time to perform prosperity magic, so if you have any prosperity spells hidden in your grimoire or book of shadows, take those out and work some magic! 🌿 Work on your book of shadows or grimoire! A relaxing way to end the day would be to write a few pages in your book, whether you write in spells, information, or a journal entry. 🌿 Finish some projects! If you have some projects nearing an end, Lammas would be a great time to finish those or to make more progress if you can! Not every goal needs to be achieved, but dedicating your time and effort to finishing a few would be a great Lammas activity. 🌿 Make a bonfire! Invite friends and family to a bonfire! While you sit around the fire, share some of your bad or unnecessary habits and how you plan to change or get rid of those habits so you can have renewed strength. If you’re a secret witch, you can just light a candle in your room and privately journal your reflection!

Barry passed about 5 miles to the east of us Saturday afternoon, giving us only light rain all day. As of this morning (Monday morning), we have been getting the tail end of it. It has been raining 24hours straight and we aren’t sure when it will stop. So far we’ve had at least a foot of rain.

The calm before the storm.
Spending the day getting ready for this hurricane headed straight for us. On a side note though, I’ll have plenty of hurricane/storm water to collect.

👩🏽‍🌾, (whatever the emoji for "what sounds, scents, or scenes comfort you?"), 🦋
👩🏽‍🌾 Do you like visiting farmer’s market?
I do. We have one that meets weekly, in town, and I try to go as often as possible.
What sounds, scents, or scenes comfort you?
Sounds: The sound of rain hitting on a metal roof
Scents: The smell of coffee or fresh bread
Scenes: My goats all napping in the barn
🦋 What do you keep with you at all times?
My phone. I always have a book downloaded or am looking something up.
Thank you for the ask!
