Big fan of characters realizing they don't get to die. They have to live. And grow. And be a person. And deal with shit they thought they'd never have to. And be fucked up about it. I would like more of this. Enough dying for honor or as redemption. It ain't. You're just a corpse. There is no moral value in dirt time.

Yes yes dark and gloomy villain this dark and gloomy villain that.
Let's be real we want the happy gleefully unhinged queercoded villain that will crash a situation with the biggest bop ever, having the time of their life and succeeding. Because good for them. Living the dream.

Okay I know we’ve been making fun of Bruce for spray painting the floor the second Alfred is gone, but it was such good foreshadowing of him pulling back the carpet in Riddler’s apartment and seeing the map written on the floor with Riddler’s plan. They parallel each other through out the film. They both are shown watching through high tech binoculars. The both come out of the shadows the first time we see them. The point of Bruce ruining his floor is not a jab at his lack of self control. It’s to show his obsession. The same obsession Riddler has himself.

One thing I really liked about The Batman was how it made Riddler legitimately creepy. Watching the movie, I could understand how the people of Gotham must have been afraid of where he would strike next. They approached this classic Batman villain as a legitimate serial killer and they never once tried to make him gimmicky or silly. Yes, Riddler is a Batman villain but he's also a complex and terrifying killer and everyone understood the implications of what letting a man like him run around the city would be. He wouldn't have stopped killing if he hadn't been stopped. The fear he instilled in people was a mirror to the fear Batman instilled and ended up, ultimately, being a push towards Bruce realizing that he has to be hope for the people more than someone the average person should fear.

A conversation absolutely must be had about the amount of times they showed Batman's relationship to kids and orphans but it's late and I have work tomorrow so I'm going to keep it short.
The fact that the first person to follow Batman to safety was a kid shouldn't be ignored. The conversation between Batman and Riddler about orphans shouldn't be ignored.
Do I absolutely think this could just be a way to link Batman and Riddler? Yes. Do I also 100% think this was meant to be foreshadowing to Robin? Also yes.
