               I thoroughly enjoyed making a Google Tour. I honestly had no idea what it was when I read the assignment but after researching and looking at others that have been made, I really can see the benefit for my students.   After much thought I decided to make something that I will be able to use in my classroom.  Every year we study the continents and the oceans.  My goal is to make this unit fun and exciting.  As you all have already learned, I have a love for travel, and I try to pass that on to my students as often as I can. While I wish I could take them around the world and back, I cannot. So, I must settle for showing them as many pictures and videos as I can. With all of this in mind, I decided to make a tour of North America. My intent is to go back and make 6 more of the other continents.  My tour made 12 stops total.  In Canada, there were 5 stops with a stop at Niagara Falls before we crossed over into the U.S.  In the U.S. there are 4 stops with a stop at Amistad Reservoir before going into Mexico. Mexico had 3 stops in the tour. My hope is that the students will read about something that they might not have thought to research before this lesson.  I know I had to dig to find a point along the U.S. and Mexico board to use as a stop. I did not know about Amistad Reservoir before doing this project. It is very interesting to read and study.

GooseChase

 Creating the Goosechase was a bit challenging at first. I was making it more difficult than it was.  The most difficult part was to come up with an idea that I could use in my classroom.  I loved looking through the ideas in the game library.  I even searched it on Pinterest to get some ideas.  Once I came up with an idea, the website was very user friendly.

There are so many different uses for this in education.  After researching and making a game of my own, I can now come up with a list for each subject.  I almost chose to do one with vocabulary words that they could act out. I also could have made one with nouns and verbs, and I still may create that one to use with my students in the next couple of weeks. I finally chose to make a scavenger hunt that was weather centered.  I am a weather fanatic and I love coming up with ideas on what we can use to make the weather unit more engaging.  My hurricane hunt includes important vocabulary, safety plans and an interview with an adult about a local hurricane.

This weeks assignment was to create a infographic about emerging technology within education, industry or healthcare.  Naturally I choose education because that it my world.  I took at many different emerging technologies but I went with 4 that I use or plan on using in my own classroom.  I used Piktochart to create my infographic.  I really enjoyed making this. I can think of a few ways that I would be able to make some infographics for my class or the parents of my students.  I used Google search to find a list of different technologies.

Hey!  I am Tara Gurley and I am in my 6th year of teaching for MCPSS. When I am not “Ms. Gurley” then I am “Mom”.  I have two girls, Peyton is 10 and Mackenzie is 8.  They are the reason for everything I do. 

 My vision board is a mix of personal and professional goals.  Finishing my masters will allow me to further my education in a field that I love but also will provide financially for my children.  Other professional goals include winning teacher of the year one day.  There have been some amazing teachers at my school and I look up to them and strive to be as amazing as they are.  This school year a major goal is to make distance learning a positive experience.  I am truly ready to have my students back in my classroom but right now that is not happening so I am going to strive to make the best out of it as I can. 

Personal goals include visiting all 50 states and getting a book published. I wrote a book nearly 10 years ago and I dream of seeing it on the self at Barnes and Noble one day.
